Starmer thinks I am an enemy of the state

1000 replies

Bumblebee72 · 01/10/2025 10:14

So we have it Starmer has declared at conference because I support Reform I am now an enemy of his Government.

Who would have thought it, a middle class British worker, now an enemy in the country I was born. And they say Reform is the party of Fascists. Yet we also now have the Home Secretary saying "In solving this crisis, you may not always like what I do. We will have to question some of the assumptions and legal constraints that have lasted for a generation and more". Maybe the Home Secretary too will be deemed an enemy of the state.

Am I being unreasonable to think this should be seen as a rallying cry to get this Government out at the first opportunity.

Farage is not going to do any working or middle class person any good. He is going to privatise the NHS and totally fuck this country for good.

Farage is a hedge fund manager who only cares about helping himself and the elite and he’s trying to weasel into power by stirring up hate. How could you fall for it?

Oh dear. You are getting tetchy.

Edited

Not tetchy -light hearted. Reform are highly likely to become the next government I don't have that much to worry about at the moment.

Reform are setting the agenda already so are kind in soft power already. It is pretty unheard of for the unofficial opposition to be control just one year into a parliament.

Starmers already a bit of Lame Duck and that will only continue to grow.

Overall I'm in pretty good spirits.

Whenever Reform supporters start getting whiny about what you call them remember that at their conference they cheered and clapped a woman who called for innocent people to be burnt to death.

The left love to preach about tolerance. It’s a shame their tolerance only extends towards those who share exactly the same opinions as them.

I'm left leaning and tolerant, but I'm not tolerant of bell-ends pushing a racist agenda in order to make money for their disaster capitalist funders.

Why should I be tolerant of dickheads who will fundamentally damage this country? What has Farage done to deserve it?

YelloDaisy · 01/10/2025 12:43

I CANNOT believe Starmer gave his speech without mentioning Immigration - what the heck planet is he on.

and suddenly they are sooooo proud of our flags - pathetic

DuncinToffee · 01/10/2025 12:31

Not even Reform would be openly targetting by skin colour

But if they only remove ILR retrospectivly from mostly Commonwealth countries and exempt Europeans what would you call it?

Depends whether or not I believed that Reform have no issues whatsoever with non-whites who come here, integrate and fully support British values. [FWIW I believe that Robinson has no issues whatsoever with non-whites who come here, integrate and fully support British values, I am less dsure abotu Reform (mainly because I despise Farage and think he would be a disaster for this country, which is the main reason I despise Starmer for his insults and fastotracking support for Reform)

You do realize that ethnic minorities live and come from Europe don't you, and that white people live outside of europe?

I don't know, why are tolerant of Labour driving us into the ground? You seem to be more worried about something that might happen, than something that is happening.

Surely the question of tolerating them is irrelevant - Starmer isn't tolerating them, but he's busy increasing their support base.

Surely the question is what can you do to ensure that Farage doesn't gain power.

We have the Scottish election next spring -at the moment Labour look to be wiped out. That might be their belated wake up call.

PlayCertainGamesWinCertainPrizes · 01/10/2025 12:50

I don’t know if you’re an enemy of the state or not, but there’s no whinier, woe is me section of voters than reform voters, to be honest.

Support who you support, own it and stop moaning about it. Why are you bothered about what your opposition brands you as?

persephonia · 01/10/2025 12:51

BluntPlumHam · 01/10/2025 12:30

Are you being serious? Have you not see the violence and riots that took place last summer? The hotel that was set alight? Are you not reading the news about the racially aggravated assaults and rapes taking place? It may not be exact but it’s on track. That’s why it needs to be called out now so it can be stopped.

I don't think it's the case that Reform is elected=immediate facism. However it's not just that election, it's the election after that and the election after that. It's really bad in America right now but it's the result of a very drawn out degredation of politics not just Trump 2025. When one person breaks the rules it's shocking, but then the next time the other side will do it because the first guys did. It becomes a normal part of politics and then the next rule is broken. It's hard to reset.and stop the spiral downwards.
See America in 2008. Versus America now

Farage openly wants the Americanisation of UK politics. That can only mean making things worse then they are for everyone. I'm not starry eyed about other parties. If Farage's and Cummings methods work for them, other parties will copy them if only to ensure their own political survival. Politics will get worse. People will get more disillusioned (just as they did after Brexit) and eventually people will lose faith in democracy as a system and we won't have it anymore. Farage feeds of disappointment and division in a way other politicians don't. So it's in his interests to stoke it in a way it isn't in other parties interests.

So as a reform voter you're happy with:

Uncosted tax cuts for the richest
Deregulation and cuts to workers rights
Losing your human rights through the loss of the ECHR
Losing the NHS

It's also worth noting that Reform are a business and there's no way of members of the public joining them and shaping policy. At least with Labour, Conservative, Liberal Dem etc they are actually political parties with membership not a business pretending to be one

Also worth pointing out that former senior member of Reform, Nathan Gill, has just been found guilty of accepting bribes from Russia.

Sounds very much enemy of the state behaviour to me.

MrsPickle123 · 01/10/2025 12:52

It is happening all over again.
Like it did with Brexit, Trump, everybody becoming more divided. Or even what was happening when other far right groups (I think you all can guess who they were) gained power during WWI and WWII.

A party that has 5 seats is parliament gets more proportionally far more air time than anybody else. Because it’s in the interest of the rich and very powerful people for Farage to be in power. They want us, regular people, to blame the immigrants, blame people on benefits. Blame or even hate. They apply modern war tactics to control the information space, create a sense of fear and uncertainty. When you look at statistics for illegal immigrants it is proportionally a tiny problem when compared to the total UK population. The real problem is the real wage stagnation, but it’s not a very hot topic, is it?

Farage will most likely win, because that’s what the rich wants, that’s what you’ll be bombarded with all over the media.

I am a white female from born in a different EU country who’s a naturalised UK citizen. I am fearful for my future and my children and I am afraid what can be taken away from us. If Farage wins I am definitely leaving this country and thankfully I have other options which sadly not everybody has.

We've not forgotten that a recent Labour Anti-corruption minister lost her job for foreign corruption. There are bad eggs everywhere.

I am not a Labour supporter particularly, but I thought Starmer's speech spoke a lot of sense. About time there was some common sense and basic decency spoken.

If Farage ever is elected, all that will happen is, he'll make some smug sanctimonious speech about "the party now needs a fresh leadership to take it forward.. blah blah..," Then he will hightail it quick as a flash to California for a media career on Fox News.

He will leave the impending Reform-led disaster to the likes of Tice and Nadine Dorries while he pontificates on Fox about all the ways they're not doing it right. Probsbly Liz Truss will make a frightening comeback as demented-idoit-in-chief. And Andrea Jenkins who made a name for herself at the Reform conference - she's sure to be a mover and shaker. Here she is, for anyone who missed it - she an insomniac, waiting for the clo-ock

Labour isn’t driving us into the ground - the effects of right wing policies over the last decades however have taken us way down and there isn’t a magic wand especially when a load of people think that there is some huge stash of our cash being hidden by the government

right wing reform government will show you that you can be driven below ground and into an early grave with the right policies

there is no magic wand
there is no simple solution
there is a lot of evidence around the world as to why right wing is bad and that’s why they don’t want you trusting any evidence

He didn’t say that

EsmeShelby · 01/10/2025 12:59

Unless you're a billionaire or Russian (preferably both) Reform is not going to help you.

usedtobeaylis · 01/10/2025 13:00

I still find it mad that people say 'I support Reform' as if it's totally reasonable thing for a human being to do.

ikeepforgetting · 01/10/2025 13:01

And why it’s suddenly controversial to call out blatant racism (the examples he gave) is appalling when you think about it (if you think about it)

NetZeroZealot · 01/10/2025 13:02

TwistyTales · 01/10/2025 10:24

He didn't call you or anyone else an enemy of the state. This is what he said:

Controlling migration is a reasonable goal.

But if you throw bricks and smash up private property…

That’s not legitimate – that’s thuggery.

Free speech is a British value – and we have guarded it for centuries.

But if you incite racist violence and hatred…

That’s not expressing concern – it’s criminal.

This party, this great party, is proud of our flags…

Yet if they are painted alongside graffiti…

Telling a Chinese takeaway owner to “go home”…

That’s not pride – that’s racism.

And if you say or imply…

That people cannot be English or British…

Because of the colour of their skin…

That mixed heritage families owe you an explanation…

And that people who have lived here for generations…

Raised their children here…

Built lives in their communities…

Working in our schools, our hospitals, running businesses…

Our neighbours…

If you say they should now be deported…

Then mark my words…

We will fight you with everything we have…

Because you are an enemy of national renewal
