To cancel my gym class I’m booked into tonight?

I’ve woken up full of cold and I feel like shit. All I want is to crawl into bed, but needs must and I need to go to work. My gym asks that you avoid cancelling on the day of a class, but you have to do it more than 4 hours before the class if you’re going to. I’ll see if I can still go to the gym at all, because I know I’m being lazy if I don’t, but AIBU to break their policy and cancel?

Why are you so angry? Every response is filled with anger.
Don't spread your germs.
It's called common sense.

To ask if I was being unreasonable to cancel, because I know my gym doesn’t like that.

i should have expected the typical response from MN that when you’ve so much as sneezed once, they expect you to stay home for three weeks.

life goes on. We can’t self isolate every time we get a cold. My job doesn’t allow WFH and I can’t afford to not be paid.

Why are you still posting, out of interest? You’re very disparaging of ‘typical MN’ and you’ve done what you were going to do, regardless of advice. So, what are you hoping to get out of the thread now? A fun evening row to match your morning one? Light dinnertime titillation?

I answered a question someone asked of me? Is that okay?

That doesn’t answer my question, though. Lots of people asked you things that you merrily ignored. And I’m not the judge of what is or isn’t okay. Just amused and wondering what the point is. Do please carry on with whatever this is.

I can’t afford to miss £100 because of a cold.

I went to the gym, nobody died, and I’m feeling better today. I’ve not isolated myself from the world either!

Why did you come on here to ask then? 🤦‍♀️

Wow, just wow! How do you know no one died… totally irresponsible.

I knew you would 🙄

And you’re welcome for all the good, relevant advice about your training regime that lots of posters far more knowledgeable than you (and me) took up their time and expertise to give you that you completely ignored.

You sound very selfish.

AgentPidge · 02/10/2025 13:59

Find a better way to exercise, if you're looking to find excuses. I used to pay for an expensive weekly yoga session and would mostly enjoy it when I got there but absolutely hated going out in the cold and driving there & back. So I cancelled, and now do 20 minutes per day with YouTube, all free! So can you do the gym as one-off sessions and do home sessions as well?
And yes, cancel today's. Look after yourself.

Edit: sorry, didn't realize this had already happened.

Cooksmart · 02/10/2025 15:54

So you had the sniffles
and decided to go to the gym

but because you were so dramatic and hyperbolic in your OP (bet you regret exaggerating so much 😆!), you shot yourselves in the foot on this thread.

Notsopls · 03/10/2025 07:08

Someone with this tenuous grip on working out that they’re so concerned that missing a gym class (having only started working out the day before for the first time!) is going to derail everything, well, if it wasn’t this week, something will pop up next week and it’ll be over.

You need to find something different op

But according to you, you didn't just "sneeze once". You felt run down for a week, then you said "I’ve woken up full of cold and I feel like shit. All I want is to crawl into bed," Not quite the same, is it?

And now you've spread the germs around for what you said was a pretty nasty cold, maybe to someone with vulnerable relatives who really will be ill. Do you feel good about that?

Save your breath folks
total waste of time

You mean hold your breath (to avoid catching the germs), surely? ;)

Curledup14 · 04/10/2025 15:53

What’s the chances the OP hasn’t been back to the gym since day 2?
