Violet Affleck is clearly warning parents about the affect of Covid on children, so when will our children get finally get air filters in their schools/nurseries?

I genuinely can't believe that the government/department for education are able to continue to ignore the now overwhelming, crystal clear evidence that Covid harms children's health. Violet Affleck gave a powerful, well documented, speech at the UN this week laying it all out and the media response? Accuse her of 'health anxiety'!
Other countries are taking action on indoor air quality to protect children in learning environments (e.g. France, Belgium, Germany, Thailand, Australia).
Bridget Philipson herself was shouting about ventilation and air filters before the election.
But still, nothing!
The department for education also had THEIR buildings upgraded so they have great indoor air quality, as did the Houses of Parliament, as do many private schools, as do DAVOS when the world leaders meet.
ALL of our children deserve clean air and to be safe in the classrooms/nurseries.
Why are we so bad at protecting our kids? Repeated Covid infections are ruining their health. ONS said in 2024 that we had over 111,000 children with long covid in Scotland and England alone.
It is SO simple to achieve this. The fact that we are doing nothing is shameful. Open the windows, get air filters, use a CO2 monitor to monitor the air. THAT IS IT. Why is that hard?

Why would anyone listen to a 19 year old with zero medical qualifications?!

Keeping school aged children away from pathogens is neither possible nor desirable.

Thankfully, Covid is over as a meaningful threat. That doesn’t mean that some people won’t still get long COVID in the same way as some got post viral syndrome from all sorts of viruses.

How is long covid diagnosed?

I think its one of those tricky diagnosis of exclusion things like CFS. And, as there hasn't been long to get their act together, I think medicine isn't yet at that point with Long Covid.

That doesn't mean it isn't real though.

Lentilcakes · 27/09/2025 17:09

I’ve just listened to a Zoe podcast which said Covid didn’t affect children in the way it did adults, the worst effect was on their mental health (I can attest to that re my DC), IDK who this person is, daughter of Ben Affleck I presume? I’d rather take the opinion of scientists than some nepo idiot.

IcedPurple · 27/09/2025 17:10

I've long suspected that many on this forum are desperately nostalgic for the Covid days and would love the clock to be turned back 5 years.

Some of the posts on this thread confirm that view.

This Zoe “The nutrition and health science company ZOE is
heavily funded through multiple venture capital rounds, not direct funding for a specific podcast”. Maybe do a little more research too.

Assuming she’s right, and I’ve spent zero seconds looking in that, what is your plan to achieve it? How much of a price increase do you propose nursery fees have added to them to pay for this and are you willing to pay it? What do schools remove from their already broken budgets to fund it, perhaps increase the class size of your children, if so too what extent is acceptable to you?

Typcial MN sh1te with whining nonsense and no actual sense added.

This, I feel we're un a time warp and back to the mn covid madness!!

I’m personally nostalgic about the time before Covid.
The time when I wasn’t housebound. I didn’t need to use a wheelchair. Wasn’t spending 90% of my day lying down (the only time I’m sitting is for meals basically).

All that from catching Covid in 2021.

As someone who had a mild Covid case but never recovered, yep I’m quite vocal about clean air. Like Violet is.
Wonder why…..

It’s all so unfair.

It often seems to me that some people just want to shout down anything inconvenient or that, deep down, frightens them. I don't think we are back to the days when lockdowns were brought in, but that doesn't mean scoffing to silence people who may have valid information is sensible.

This thread confirms that there are many of these people as well. "There's no such things as monsters; there's no such thing as monsters ..." The more aggressively you say that, the less there will be!🙄

I'm very sorry about what happened to you, but the fact remains that Covid is a relatively mild illness in the vast majority of cases.

Society is not going back to the dark 'mask up!' days on the say so of an attention-seeking teenager.

Violet is amazing!!

And unfortunately the results on your pool show why were not going to get air filters and UV light in schools (or hospitals).
‘People’ have decided it’s not necessary, over the top, scaremongering etc….
Never mind, our government buildings, the defence ministry, the King’s palace all have them because … yes it protects from Covid (and many other illnesses like the flu, colds or simply allergens).

Respectfully@wondersun this is the post that you quoted at 13.44 today it mentions the Kings palace.

Dreadful things and illnesses do happen to people all the time, its horrible for you and life changing and life limiting

But a rarity, we cant plan the world around it.

Lots of things 'could' happen but we cant live in fear of them.

I’m also nostalgic for the days before l got LC.

Very mild case. Very severe LC. Housebound 2 years.

Dont think it won’t happen to you. There was nothing wrong with me prior to catching it.

HIV starts mild. It also took 5/10 years for the narrative to switch and for awareness campaigns to start.

Unless you have scientific research showing how it’s mild (spoiler - even mild covid infections have been shown to cause lasting serious damage) I don’t see what you’re trying to achieve, other than attention.. oh, the irony.

I can work out Violet Affleck’s motives and I’m afraid I think I’ve got yours too. At best, you’re fearful.

Covid isnt a monster though and its not frightening.

Its unpleasant for many of us, and for a few it will be life affecting.

Like many other illnesses and conditions. Like car accidents, like running accidents, like choking or allergies, like household accidents, like various viruses that are floating around, like many other things.

Yes I'm definitely seeking out attention on an anonymous discussion board.

I was never 'fearful' of Covid even at the height of it. I was much more fearful of lockdowns and the other 'restrictions'.

But I'm not going to get into an idiotic discussion about my 'movies'.

Anything can happen to anyone at any time.

But we don't normally plan our own and others' lives around remote eventualities.

Not while Im walking around or cycling no.

In the car yes

Im walking around and cycling far more than Im in the car. Pedestrians are far higher risk from car accidents than drivers.

I expect she does, because it's the law and the vast majority of people comply.

However, I presume she doesn't (for example) drive everywhere at 20 mph.

Everything is a trade off of risk/reward.

Im sure it is, along with the terror experienced by people who suffer dementia, cancer, developing blindness. My parents are currently extremely ill with a number of conditions, very frightening.

My dad went deaf after his covid vaccination as well, that was also frightening.
