Violet Affleck is clearly warning parents about the affect of Covid on children, so when will our children get finally get air filters in their schools/nurseries?

I genuinely can't believe that the government/department for education are able to continue to ignore the now overwhelming, crystal clear evidence that Covid harms children's health. Violet Affleck gave a powerful, well documented, speech at the UN this week laying it all out and the media response? Accuse her of 'health anxiety'!
Other countries are taking action on indoor air quality to protect children in learning environments (e.g. France, Belgium, Germany, Thailand, Australia).
Bridget Philipson herself was shouting about ventilation and air filters before the election.
But still, nothing!
The department for education also had THEIR buildings upgraded so they have great indoor air quality, as did the Houses of Parliament, as do many private schools, as do DAVOS when the world leaders meet.
ALL of our children deserve clean air and to be safe in the classrooms/nurseries.
Why are we so bad at protecting our kids? Repeated Covid infections are ruining their health. ONS said in 2024 that we had over 111,000 children with long covid in Scotland and England alone.
It is SO simple to achieve this. The fact that we are doing nothing is shameful. Open the windows, get air filters, use a CO2 monitor to monitor the air. THAT IS IT. Why is that hard?

Somebody else that I have had to Google. She is the 19 year old daughter of actors. What are her medical qualifications?

What is so hard to understand about scientists being smart enough to ask supportive celebrities to promote science (especially when the government isn’t)?

wondersun · 03/10/2025 12:21

And the comments about the new strains being milder. Milder chronic long term illness? It’s not just about the infection.

Vanishing rare and greatly exaggerated

Thanks for sharing those links @wondersun

It’s good to keep this discussion factual.

Gosh it’s a sobering read isn’t it? And yes spot on.

Nobody is building any immunity to this and repeated infections are very damaging. Covid hasn’t become what we thought it would.

DS2 is now complaining of a sore throat. My two boys used to be rarely ill. That does seem to be changing now. Something does need to be done in schools.

Something really does need to be done. Despite some comments on here I do feel more people are starting to question whether things really do need to be like this. I hope that your children are all back on form very soon and that you can have a nice quiet weekend.

Delatron · 04/10/2025 11:50

Ah thank you @wondersun . I too feel the tide is turning a bit. When people are unfortunately still being knocked out for weeks with Covid repeatedly and kids continually ill.

I think it’s quite hard for people to accept that Covid hasn’t panned out like we thought it would. Hopefully we’ll see some action soon. The more people speaking out the better.

Have a lovely weekend too.

Missing out that repeatedly battering your immune system, with viruses that attack the body, is a really plan, is not describing anything in “a very basic nutshell”. It’s misleading.

Can’t even remember what this was about!

missed your reply entirely. But thank you!

Who the f**k is Violet Affleck and what are her qualifications?

Famous daddy looking at the name, nothing else worth having.

SunnySideDeepDown · 13/10/2025 09:42

As a parent in this world, what am I supposed to be worrying myself with?

  • UPF in our food?
  • Social Media?
  • Declining childhood mental health
  • Childhood obesity?
  • Rising cancer rates in young adults?
  • Air pollution?
  • Cost of living crisis?

The world is far from perfect but I can’t tackle it all. I’m working, trying to raise healthy, happy and polite humans. Navigating social relationships and societal expectations. I’m literally one person doing their best.

This is getting ridiculous. No wonder we’re all fucking miserable.

In an ideal world the government would tackle all of the above but they won’t/cant. So for now, I’m staying in my bubble and just doing what I can. Arguing over air pollution and mask wearing isn’t top of my list im afraid. When I gain another day in the week, perhaps.

There seem to be two camps - the it’s always been this way and those that have noticed a change. Data suggests the latter (as do eyes and ears)!

Data is always open to interpretation. I would suggest much of our collective ill health is down to us being, at population level, an obese, inactive, overly introspective, decedent and hypochondriac nation that is desperate to put a label or diagnosis on anything so that it can absolve ourselves from any responsibility or blame.

Delatron · 13/10/2025 13:14

Oh here she is. Now everyone who is ill is fat/inactive and a hyperchondriac

Not everyone. As a population, by belief is that obesity, inactivity, isolation and too much introspection are greater issues than 'long (wah, its vascular!! Run for the hills, but not before you file for benefits) Covid'.

Of course you’d ‘suggest’ that. 🙄

Well I’ve had COVID at least 3 times. It wasn’t a barrel of laughs but I’ve had worse hangovers.
