The council should be taking down England flags in public places?

I have driven through a couple of areas in the last few days where England flags are being displayed on public lamp posts, it makes me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome in the area and I think gosh I’m glad I don’t live here, but why are the council not taking them down?

Im part of that we. We who know the intent behind using the country's flag like dog piss on lampposts to mark territory. @Love4both said the quiet bit out loud, if you do not like what the racists are doing, move somewhere else. She demonstrated greater understanding of this than your niaive or faux naive(?) take.

I'm in NI and have a lifetime of experience of flag shagging bigots.🙄 Flags go up then residents are put out at great cost to the taxpayer and trauma to the victims. The flags are both a warning and an intimidation tactic. That's something that we can't and shouldn't ignore.🤨

No I've already said I don't at the moment but I've been inspired to do so by this thread. I think it's good to fight back against the bigots who tar everyone with the same brush and cry wolf about people being racists without knowing them. It's insulting. But that's just my personal view and you are my inspiration. 😊

Seriously? You argue the cheeriness and pride you ascribe to flying the flag, but you don't fly one yourself? Why not?

An Engish person flying an English flag in England is not and never will be unreasonable. A Scottish flag flown by a Scot in Scotland is equally reasonable. Neither act is illegal.

Well there isn't a huge amount of point me personally flying a flag as there isn't anyone to see it. Maybe I might attach some to my car if I can find some tomorrow. I'm all for it, just a bit disorganised.

I've spent too much time explaining why I don't think most of those flying flags are racists. If you are against flying a flag yourself, you won't know the motivation of why other people do chose to. That's just reality I'm afraid. You can"t read minds. Unless you are God. Or Professor Charles Xavier?

I am against flying a flag when its used to divide and intimidate. I know the intent of the flag shagging, racist, bigots behind Operation: Raise the Colours. They haven't hidden it.

It’s not even part of British culture to have the flag everywhere - national days of importance and sporting events is where it’s historically been seen. We’re not Danes.

Ah - got a swastika painted in a local supermarket, along with flags hung up - same time.
Saw a few Seig heils today from the patriots with flags I went to ‘meet’ today too.

Been along to see some flag flying patriots today - lovely group, had t-shirts and suits with flags on too, and even a hat that said c u next Tuesday - family orientated, brought the kids and taught them the swear words - saw Seig heils, heard some saying we should get raped, and also our kids, was at the wrong end to get the beer on me, or a bottle, saw the nice police doggies having to he used to prevent a hotel being broken into.
Patriotism at its finest then.

I had abuse hurled at me and something thrown at my car because I drove over a pedestrian crossing where some arseholes had just been doing their patriotic duty and painting the flag. Now I have red paint all over my fucking tyres!

English people have a right to put flags where they want. If we were in Germany german flags would be everywhere. Its people proud of culture. Personally, i admire it, it doesnt offend me.

Well that's bad. And most people can tell the difference. Luckily that sort of thing is very rare here and hopefully will continue to be so if the government get a handle on immigration.
