My boyfriend stayed overnight at my house for the first time on Wednesday.

We both had yesterday off so had a lazy morning watching tv in bed.

He broke wind really loud and grabbed my head and forced it under the covers, I couldn’t move from under them for about 10 seconds.

He thought it was hilarious, I told him I’m a 37 year old woman and don’t appreciate that.

I think it’s the fact we’d not long been intimate and he was being really jokey.

I told one of my friends who found it amusing and said it’s a sign he’s comfortable around me which is good, but I don’t agree!

OP posts:
UnctuousUnicorns · 26/09/2025 12:17

That would be the end of it for me. I don't do disrespect like that. He'd be taking a hike. I'm 100% serious on that.

InTheWellBeing · 26/09/2025 12:18

No man would do that to me and get to stay in my bed.

Horses7 · 26/09/2025 12:20

Ick
Has he got the brain of a ten year old ??

Larrypitt · 26/09/2025 12:21

Is he 14?

Dontitalwaysseemtogo · 26/09/2025 12:23

My husband would never do this and if a partner did, it would repulse me. Me and my DH have been together 18 years and don’t intentionally fart in front of each other it’s just not necessary!

Sera1989 · 26/09/2025 12:25

If being comfortable around you means being gross and immature now, imagine how things will be in a few years. What did he say at the time? If it was something along the lines of ‘calm down, it was just a joke’ then I think you should cut your losses

IAmThePrettiestManOnMyIsland · 26/09/2025 12:26

Aside from being rank, the immaturity would put me right off. Toilet humour never has been funny as far as I'm concerned.

Aposterhasnoname · 26/09/2025 12:26

Any bloke who used his strength to keep me in a position against my will would be dumped on the spot, and thats without the juvenile, disgusting "joke"

Katiesaidthat · 26/09/2025 12:27

My husband and his brother used to play this kind of joke on each other. They were about 13 I think...
I would chuck this one back...

lifeonmars100 · 26/09/2025 12:28

So juvenile and irritating, not to mention rather gross and an utter turn off.

Vaxtable · 26/09/2025 12:28

Revolting, he would be out the door

WhatdoesitmeanKeith · 26/09/2025 12:29

CantBreathe90 · 26/09/2025 10:22

I wouldn't LTB over this as a one-off. Some couples do have a more jokey/matey sort of relationship, which is fine for them. But be clear that's never to happen again.

FWIW, have been with my OH for almost 11 years, and he's never done this. We are very comfortable around each other!

This is about the lowest bar I’ve seen on MN.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 26/09/2025 12:30

I thought this was something you read about in urban dictionary but nobody actually did.
Having said that, I've seen posts on MN where women fart in front of their partners and they both find it hilarious, but it's not for me.

outerspacepotato · 26/09/2025 12:32

He grabbed your head and forced it under the covers and restrained you there for 10 seconds.

Why does anyone think assault and restraint are a joke?

Dump. He's extremely immature and has no qualms about manhandling you against your will.

BeeCucumber · 26/09/2025 12:33

Throw him back before he leaves skid marks on your sheets.

Weird, but each to their own. I find farts funny, the sound part that is, not so much the smell.

wrongthinker · 26/09/2025 12:33

I would just end it now, OP. First red flag should also be the last. Red flag = stop now.

Someone forcing me, holding me down by my head, and telling me it was funny - that would be the end of it for me.

potato08 · 26/09/2025 12:34

Oh, god.
Just gross

theDudesmummy · 26/09/2025 12:35

I have never had a man do this and as others have said, would have ended it immediately if they had. Personally I would have got up, told him to leave immediately, and would never communicate with him again. This would be the same whether it was the first or hundredth time I'd been in bed with him.

LoveWine123 · 26/09/2025 12:37

Being jokey jokey is farting in front of you, but forcing your head under the covers is abusive. What an asshole!

FreeTheOakTree · 26/09/2025 12:39

Just want to join the majority chorus of END IT.

Even if he held your head to smell the gardenia he had lovingly grown in your honour, I would say the same.

Fact that he farted and did this, is utterly revolting.

I would not see this man again.

Hankunamatata · 26/09/2025 12:39

I had to make it clear to dh i wasnt one of his mates. I was his wife and dont appreciate any kind of fart humour but we were early 20s

HappyAsASandboy · 26/09/2025 12:41

That would be the last time I saw him. Nobody forces my head anywhere.

WFHforevermore · 26/09/2025 12:50

Yay, another "man bashing" thread. Dont like it, fuck off off to the next man, do we need another man hating thread about it??

MischiefandMayhemManaged · 26/09/2025 12:51

That would be a one and done for me. absolutley vile.
