Why did William (albeit briefly) smile at Andrew?

Skye109 · 25/09/2025 11:27

At around 0.13 seconds in. A definite smirk appears on his face and if you watch his eyes, his eyes smile for a moment. It's very brief.
William has had a lifetime of being trained and is experienced enough to know how to skillfully suppress his expression quickly, which he does.
But a quick smile is there.
Why is William allowing a fleeting smile to develop in response to something Andrew says to him? Andrew saw it, too.
Why is he even standing right next to him?
Knowing the press are there? Knowing about the optics?
I don't believe all these reports saying William is trying to get his father to cut ties with Andrew.

Smiling can be nerves or a way of acknowledging he is being spoken to. He seemed to turn away pretty quickly. What did you expect him to do?

zipadeedodah · 25/09/2025 11:31

I laugh nervously when I'm nervous. It could be that.

In any case, the Yorks really are disgustingly greedy. It's about time they were kicked out they have been taking kickbacks for decades.

ilovesooty · 25/09/2025 11:32

I really couldn't give it this kind of intense headspace.

Reachedtheend · 25/09/2025 11:33

Honestly OP the expression " get a life" comes to mind.
Apart from wondering how you could spend time even giving it head space it makes me feel so sorry for those people living in the public eye that people actually spend time scrutinising their every split second facial expression. How absolutely dreadful for them.

roseymoira · 25/09/2025 11:36

Why isn’t this on the Royal family board??

Because a weak smile is this generation’s secret handshake.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 25/09/2025 11:48

Let's get rid of them all.. bunch of rich thieving bastards

INeedAnotherName · 25/09/2025 11:48

You can get a minimum of six sessions of therapy on the self referral NHS pathway OP. I really think you need to do that if you are this obsessed over a fleeting smile. It's not healthy.

Coffeeishot · 25/09/2025 11:48

I mean he was being polite did you think he should just blank him ? I know PA is a total creep .but .Prince william just responded politely with no "smirk"

As an aside did you go looking for that clip voluntarily ?

Cynic17 · 25/09/2025 11:50

Oh come on, OP...... " person at public event is polite"....... it's not exactly surprising. Some people do still have manners, you know.

limescale · 25/09/2025 11:58

My sister laughed during my Mum's final breaths.
Obviously an involuntary behaviour in response to extreme stress.
Should we have thrown her out of the family?

Coffeeishot · 25/09/2025 12:04

Actually looking at it Prince William looks a bit awkward at his uncles smiley chat at a funeral.

incognitomouse · 25/09/2025 12:09

Jeez, it was probably just a polite acknowledgement. They are still family at the end of the day, he can't just blank him.

hellsbells99 · 25/09/2025 12:10

You are crackers op

WhiteNoiseBlur · 25/09/2025 12:11

He’s his uncle?

FuzzyWolf · 25/09/2025 12:12

Crikey, no wonder some people end up with all kinds of mental health illnesses from this kind of unhealthily obsessive scrutiny.

I also think YABU and deluded with what you are telling yourself you see.

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/09/2025 12:13

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 25/09/2025 12:15

I actually thought it was 0.15 seconds in. Probably laughing at a global conspiracy of some kind.

BlueRidgeMountain · 25/09/2025 12:18

Bloody hell you'd have a field day analysing my facial expressions - apparently I pull all sorts of faces involuntarily, and half the time I have no idea. People aren’t always in total control of their facial expressions. He may have smiled at something he said involuntarily. He might have been smiling at something totally unrelated. Who knows. But to give it this level of scrutiny isn’t healthy. As a PP has said, I really feel for the royals and other celebrities who can’t even go out with constipation without some random analysing their pained facial expressions 🙄

MoFadaCromulent · 25/09/2025 12:18

As if any of them give a fuck what their uncle did to some normies beyond the public hassle it caused the family
