Why did William (albeit briefly) smile at Andrew?

Skye109 · 25/09/2025 11:27

At around 0.13 seconds in. A definite smirk appears on his face and if you watch his eyes, his eyes smile for a moment. It's very brief.
William has had a lifetime of being trained and is experienced enough to know how to skillfully suppress his expression quickly, which he does.
But a quick smile is there.
Why is William allowing a fleeting smile to develop in response to something Andrew says to him? Andrew saw it, too.
Why is he even standing right next to him?
Knowing the press are there? Knowing about the optics?
I don't believe all these reports saying William is trying to get his father to cut ties with Andrew.

Oh how I miss the laugh reaction.

I was actually thinking weep might be useful ...

The Yorks should stop being invited to RF events.
The family seems intent on covering up for them.

Anyone may go to a funeral. It’s not like a wedding and it wasn’t an official event in any sense.

I detest PA, but I don’t think you can actually stop family members attending a funeral.

I think he should tell him to go away.
I think he should tell him he doesn't want to be associated with, or seen talking to, the friend of a paedophile, sex trafficker and rapist.
That's what I think William should do if Andrew speaks to him in public.
Not share a smile.

William has inbred good manners. He has been taught to never ignore someone speaking to him, to always acknowledge someone politely. He has been programmed to observe etiquette. It would have just been an automatic acknowledgement followed by racing thoughts of ‘oh bloody hell, how do I handle this’. Leave the poor man alone.

The Duchess of Kent was the wife of his mother’s first cousin.

There was no reason for him to be front and centre of the mourning party. He muscles in on every ceremony, is still a knight of the garter and has many other royal privileges and titles.

Him and his grifting wife even had a police escort to the funeral.

Read ‘Entitled’ to discover quite how venal this grasping couple are.

If they were not royal they would probably be in prison due to their intimate relationship with Epstein, as well as other scandals, but as it is they have not even been questioned due to their royal privilege.

Have you actually looked at it? I don't think he even wheeled out a polite acknowledgement let alone a chummy smile.

You’re misunderstanding - or rather reading a huge amount into my post that it’s there.

Are you assuming I’m an Andrew apologist?

Of course that’s why they were there - it’s bleeding obvious.

Im responding to the post suggesting that a) the funeral wa an official royal event and b) that you van ban people from relatives’ funerals.

Jeez.

Just read your post again - where are you getting this stuff from? I suggest you re-read mine.

LivingTheDreamish · 25/09/2025 19:50

I thought he looked uncomfortable and shut down the interaction ASAP. It was a family funeral but PA had to plant himself front and centre instead of skulking round the back like anyone with an iota of self awareness would have done. I’m sick of seeing them both. A difficult problem to solve.

Jesus give it a rest. He went to a family funeral. He wasn't front and centre of anything, he attended with other members of his family. He was only front and centre in the gutter press and amongst the deranged royal fans.

They had a police escort because of the lunatics in the world and because he is still part of the royal family (whether we like it or not) going to a royal family event.

I'm not a fan of his but dear god, he went to a family member's funeral. He didn't worm his way into anything.

Iamafricalikebono · 25/09/2025 19:54

Threads like this about the royals are always so unhinged, he smiles with his eyes at 0.13secs 🙄. It’s a family funeral, sometimes you just have to smile and nod even with family members you’d rather not speak to as it’s not about you and no need to make a scene.

MargaretThursday · 25/09/2025 19:58

It could be caught unawares. I had a situation a few years ago where someone had caused a lot of hurt. I bumped into them outside a shop and automatically smiled in greeting.
I did not want to acknowledge them at all. If I'd known they were there then I'd have gone the other way. If I'd had time to process it, then I'd have turned away and ignored them.
But I didn't, and I felt almost violated afterwards that I'd been jumped into that reaction.

The Prince Andrew apologists are out in force!

I do understand that barmy royalists give him a free pass, no matter how depraved his behaviour, but he should not be hogging the front steps, attempting to ‘share a joke’ with the Prince of Wales at any ‘family event’ in the public eye. He could quite easily have been a few rows back away from photographers. He did exactly the same at King Constantine’s funeral and other events he is mistakenly invited to.

Do you give all friends of convicted paedophiles your unwavering support or only the royal ones?

You remind me of Jacob Rees Mogg on GBNews who went into total meltdown when he was interviewing PrinceAndrew’s critical biographer.

It really is time that you royal toadies woke up and smelt the coffee!

As if any of them give a fuck what their uncle did to some normies beyond the public hassle it caused the family

Well they covered up Mountbatten so they will do the same for Andrew. We don’t know the half of it.

Because Andrew is his uncle and he knew him before all this Epstein business. Honestly, people seem obsessed with the subject, poring over every gesture.
