Why did William (albeit briefly) smile at Andrew?

Skye109 · 25/09/2025 11:27

At around 0.13 seconds in. A definite smirk appears on his face and if you watch his eyes, his eyes smile for a moment. It's very brief.
William has had a lifetime of being trained and is experienced enough to know how to skillfully suppress his expression quickly, which he does.
But a quick smile is there.
Why is William allowing a fleeting smile to develop in response to something Andrew says to him? Andrew saw it, too.
Why is he even standing right next to him?
Knowing the press are there? Knowing about the optics?
I don't believe all these reports saying William is trying to get his father to cut ties with Andrew.

Jesus they were at a family funeral. He's William's uncle first and foremost. People laugh, people smile, people hug each other. Especially when they don't see that person very often.

We always have family photos taken at our family funerals as it's the only time you usually get the whole family together. We're also known to laugh and smile.

All this intense nit picking and lip reading, body language crap is just really stupid.

The poor bloke (W) realises he has a nano-second to decide which headline would be worse:

WEAK WILLIAM SHARES A JOKE WITH WICKED UNCLE ANDY

or

PSYCHO WILLIAM SNARLS AND PUNCHES UNCLE IN THE FACE

Or he could find him actually repulsive which is the normal feeling towards someone like Andrew, and therefore not be able to smile at anything he said, either naturally or fake. Just have no reaction.

I am a therapist.

Good grief.

He probably does. But they are not really allowed to react normally to things. The press, and OP, are watching their every twitch!

InsectsMatter · 25/09/2025 15:40

The Yorks should stop being invited to RF events.
The family seems intent on covering up for them.

Skye109 · 25/09/2025 12:34

I think he should tell him to go away.
I think he should tell him he doesn't want to be associated with, or seen talking to, the friend of a paedophile, sex trafficker and rapist.
That's what I think William should do if Andrew speaks to him in public.
Not share a smile.

At a funeral? You think he should create a scene at a funeral? That's really what YOU would do?! Don't be so disrespectful! Or should he do exactly what he did and make a polite acknowledgement as that what rational human beings at a funeral do, he hardly belly-laughed and then high fived him did he?

I mean it could have gone either way 😂

ParmaVioletTea · 25/09/2025 15:57

a) get a life
b) Andrew Windsor is his uncle
c) you have no idea of the thoughts & feelings of these strangers
d) get a life

Allseeingallknowing · 25/09/2025 16:00

He was just responding politely imo

MsFelicityLemon · 25/09/2025 16:11

Could you be more specific about when the eye smile is and how long it lasts? I'm not quite seeing it. Is it from 0.13 seconds to 0.17 seconds?

HideousKinky · 25/09/2025 16:12

He looks to me to be giving the bare minimum reaction, as if to communicate he wants Andrew to stop talking to him.

No encouragement whatsoever so I don't really see your point?

Kreepture · 25/09/2025 16:14

fuck me.. OP, you need serious help.. i suggest you see a therapist.. a real one, not one like yourself who clearly got your quals off the back of a fag packet if you think for one second this kind of behaviour is normal.

Also.. please FO to the royals board with the rest of the obsessive weirdos.

ozarina · 25/09/2025 16:15

A smirk is not a smile. It's derogatory.

Butteredtoast55 · 25/09/2025 16:15

What an absolutely idiotic fuss about a very fleeting moment. If anything, it looks more like a muscle twitching in William's cheek to me (a classic sign of tension, suggesting he doesn't want to engage). Either way round, I think this level of scrutiny is deranged. If the OP actually is a therapist then God help us.

Kreepture · 25/09/2025 16:15

also, ftr, i think it looks more like him being mildly amused thinking what everyone like you will make of Andrew having the audacity to speak to him at a family funeral.

FaithlessInsomnia · 25/09/2025 16:19

Oooh, Prince William rubbed his nose with his left hand. What could this possibly mean? 🤔

Sorry OP but I can’t see the smile you refer to. It all looks a bit awkward.

I thought this as well. WIlliam is trapped in a public line up and looks as if he wishes he was somewhere else and wished PA would not talk to him so he can carry on ignoring him. He seems to turn with a massive sense of relief to talk to Tim Lawrence (who is quite astute and might well have stepped in after Andrew spoke to him a second time to give WIlliam a chance to turn his back on his uncle).

Sporadica · 25/09/2025 16:23

Perhaps William had gas?

There’s a board for this mind rot. Please use it.

Even the regulars wouldn't want this insanity foisted upon them. It should be deleted tbh, for OPs mental health.

Yes, that's the correct time frame.

I heard it was because Kate farted.

MargotMoon · 25/09/2025 18:01

His eyes smile!?? Get a grip

Calliopespa · 25/09/2025 18:08

Well we obviously all see things quite differently.

I thought William looked about as unfriendly, disinterested, awkward and cold as it would be possible to manage without actually being positively aggressive about it.

Peoplepleaserincrisis · 25/09/2025 18:10

Oh how I miss the laugh reaction.
