Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

I'm Jewish and think this is long overdue. Palestinians deserve a state, they don't deserve to have the possibility taken away because of the awful action a minority took on 7 October on their behalf.

If the Israeli government did not want there to be recognition of Palestine they could have retaliated without turning to genocide, without mass starvation. It has made me ashamed to feel people might associate me with Israel but most of all made me feel total horror of what they have done to Gaza, actions that betray the memory of my family members murdered by Nazis in the Shoah.

This is only a start, but it's something. I can't say I am optimistic, because Netanyahu has assured a generation of hatred towards Israel from any surviving Gazans - I really wouldn't blame them.

The whole thing is based on the lie that the Palestinian Arabs actually want their own state. They don't. What they really want is the annihilation of Israel.

If it would have ever really been about a State of Palestine, they wouldn't have rejected every single offer and opportunity, starting with the proposed Partition Plan.

In the West Bank and Gaza there is currently, and always has been, extremely low support for a two state solution. The only solution ever acceptable to the majority of them was a final solution, ie all of the Levant being a Palestinian state.

What is especially deplorable about the western leaders signaling their virtue in recognising Palestine, is that the Palestinian Arabs haven't even done the basic steps in building a state. We have this weird situation where Starmer and some other idiots are telling a group of people that they recognise their state, when those people don't even recognise it!

And me.

And the hostages? Did you mean free Palestine and free the Hostages Hamas are torturing?

This has been going on for nearly two years....of course aids getting in...there wouldn't be a single person left if there wasn't.

Not much recently- hence the huge concern.

They literally voted in Hamas to govern them. The parallels with the IRA are ridiculously disingenuous.

Are you familiar with the 1918 Irish General Election?

PollyPaintsFlowers · 21/09/2025 15:45

I agree with you. Not a word he now says condemning terrorism or honouring the victims of the Holocaust will be trusted, it'll be just empty words

We have an appeaser and a terrorist sympathiser for a Prime Minister

It is really quite outrageous to say that recognising a Palestinian state is incompatible with honouring the holocaust.
I honestly don’t know how it is possible to come to this conclusion.
All the people I know honour the holocaust, the victims of 9/11 and the victims of the genocide in Gaza. To pick and choose is to deny humanity

Ryah76 · 21/09/2025 16:48

lnks · 21/09/2025 15:42

You know its not one or the other. You can think that what Hamas did is horrendous whilst also recognising the need to protect the ordinary men, women and children in Palestine

100% agree

SirHumphreyRocks · 21/09/2025 16:43

Very few people "just hate Jews" and opposition to genocide does not indicate hatred of either Jewish or Israeli people. The Israeli government has had plenty of opportunity to avoid this action. And many people who hate Jews hate Muslims just as much.

Very few people "just hate Jews"

Such disgusting lies.

Antisemitism (the world’s oldest hatred) has existed and persisted in many forms for over 2,000 years. In all time periods, all over the world.

Jewish people have been persecuted for thousands of years.

Do you consider it to have just disappeared, overnight, of it’s own volition? Has it just suddenly ceased to be a problem? After all this time? Just, disapperated into the ether?

Where has all the antisemitism gone?

TicklishReader · 21/09/2025 16:48

ButtCheek · 21/09/2025 16:34

Fucking this a million times. People just hate Jews though.

Nothing about this nightmare is representative of "Jews". The world knows this, so stop throwing the term anti-semitism around to try to shut people up.

Jewish people don't want this either.

SerendipityJane · 21/09/2025 16:49

Also the title really needs amending. It's not "Starmers" support etc etc. It is the UKs support for Palestine. In the form of a decision taken by a democratically elected government in accordance with the laws of the UK.

You may not like it, but it's childish to pretend it's something that Starmer "just did" without going through the proper channels. He's not Donald Trump for fucks sake.

I make this point because I could not have opposed the Iraq war more within the constraints of the law back in 2003. And I mean opposed. However there were plenty of people around then telling me to suck it up as it was a democratic decision and if I didn't like it why didn't I go and live in Russia.

How times change, eh ?

HeyThereDelila · 21/09/2025 16:49

Completely agree. It’s a disgrace.

Keir Starmer is naive and pathetic.

Well under International law, it’s the 1967 Borders!

But don’t let that stop Israel- they have just announced a huge illegal settlement on Palestinian land in the West Bank.

Honesting · 21/09/2025 16:50

Spiritofeden87 · 21/09/2025 16:43

Also everyone on here screaming that it’s the wrong decision.

What about the West Bank that’s governed by the Palestinian authority (nothing to do with Hamas) where Israel has just announced yet more illegal expansion of its settlements?

Anything to say about that? Anything to say about Israel ILLEGALLY bulldozing entire Palestinian communities.

This decision is for those communities too.

Edited

You might be confusing areas A and C.

Absolutely this.
Enough of this violence. Move forward.

it would be a much darker time you were a small child in Gaza.

Thegreyhound · 21/09/2025 16:50

QueenOfHiraeth · 21/09/2025 15:48

I think it is a very bad decision.
I hate what Israel is doing but rewarding terrorism is not going to change that and it is clear that a two state solution is not what the Palestinians want.
Apparently lawyers have warned that this decision could also leave the country open to huge reparations claims in the future so it may have serious repercussions

I’m pretty sure the vast majority of Palestinians would be happy with a two state solution. I think you mean that the Israelis would not, which is entirely different.

GladioliGreen · 21/09/2025 16:01

Have you had a read of UK history? The slave trade, manufacturing multiple famines, concentration camps, mass killings and this is one of the darkest days?!

No, you're not alone.

You'll get a load of crap from posters on here, though, who have fallen hook, line and sinker for the pro-Palestine propaganda, not to mention the anti-semitism.

The truth is Hamas do not want a two-state solution. They have been offered this many times. What they actually want is to murder every Jew and eradicate them from the face of the earth. They have been completely explicit about this.

How anyone can support Hamas is beyond me. Why the hell would you want racist, misogynist, homophobic, violent religious ideologues to have more land and more international support? Fucking stupid, apart from anything else. But they have been really, really good at propagandising and lying.

Supporting Palestinian statehood is not the same as supporting Hamas.

I didn't say there was no anti-semitism at all. But most peoples learn from history and change. Not everyone though. There's a few in the Israeli government who also haven't learned anything from history.

And the next time you call me a liar you will be reported.

No people don’t hate Jews, they hate the Israeli government. Crying anti-semitism for any judgement against Israel is just an easy way to block valid facts.

Do Hamas want Jewish/Israeli’s destroyed, of course, and thats disgusting! Just like it’s disgusting Israeli Gov wants all the Palestinians dead and buried - we’ve heard some of them say it…

Most people don't give a stuff about Jews. Or Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Vulcans, Furries or the Easter Bunny. What they do care about is that a nation of 2 million people are being terrorised, starved, displaced, maimed and murdered. If your religion is more important than that you might want to have a word with your god about priorities.

Honesting · 21/09/2025 16:50

Well it depends what the 2 state solution boundaries are. Area c subjects Palestinians to way worse conditions than the settlers. It’s equally disturbing. And the new settlements are illegal.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 21/09/2025 16:41

So where is Palestine? Is it the Gaza Strip? Does it include the West Bank enclave (I don’t think their leaders want to have much to do with Hamas, they are on different sides of the religious divide)? Is it anywhere that ‘Palestinians’ live?

As for David Lammy’s ingenuous suggestion that they should have a ‘joint capital in Jerusalem’ , presumably he is unaware that the enclave around the Dome of the Rock is part of Israel but run and administered by Jordan, who seem to want nothing to do with Hamas. ( Bit like Egypt, who closed the border years ago).

But hey, it might save a few votes for Labour ….

The borders of the Palestinian territories are pretty clear, so the borders of a Palestinian state would be similarly clear.
