Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

Its the first thing that he has done that I respect him for. Hear hear.

NotTerfNorCis · 21/09/2025 16:33

Hugely unreasonable. Israel created the conditions that led to Hamas in the first place.

LakieLady · 21/09/2025 16:34

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 16:05

They literally voted in Hamas to govern them. The parallels with the IRA are ridiculously disingenuous.

They haven't had a chance to vote them out for nearly 20 years though. There hasn't been an election in Gaza for almost that long.

It's hardly surprising that Hamas got a lot of support, given that they were committed to resisting any further land grabs by Israel, and the alternative was the PLO/Al Fatah, who had rolled over and accepted the settlements.

No, you're not alone.

You'll get a load of crap from posters on here, though, who have fallen hook, line and sinker for the pro-Palestine propaganda, not to mention the anti-semitism.

The truth is Hamas do not want a two-state solution. They have been offered this many times. What they actually want is to murder every Jew and eradicate them from the face of the earth. They have been completely explicit about this.

How anyone can support Hamas is beyond me. Why the hell would you want racist, misogynist, homophobic, violent religious ideologues to have more land and more international support? Fucking stupid, apart from anything else. But they have been really, really good at propagandising and lying.

Fucking this a million times. People just hate Jews though.

Me too. Absolutely. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

And me.

All he is standing up for is his personal gain in the polls

I don't really care
He is doing the right thing, if its for the wrong reaons so what?

amylou8 · 21/09/2025 16:23

It's an appalling decision.
For those of you shouting genocide, if Israel wanted to commit genocide every Palestinian would have been dead months ago.
This terrible war rests squarely on the shoulders of Hamas, and Starmer has just handed them their reward.

So what were nazi Germany doing then? Ridiculous

Locutus2000 · 21/09/2025 16:40

Upbraidy · 21/09/2025 16:18

Freedom fighters? Anyone who murders an innocent civilian is not a freedom fighter.

This tends to depend on whether we sympathise with the freedom fighters.

If we don't, we call them terrorists.

None of the two state solutions offered to Hamas have included a right of return for Palestinians living elsewhere. Would the Jewish people have accepted the setting up of the state of Israel without such a condition?

LeonMccogh · 21/09/2025 16:41

When Trump and Netanyahu criticise it you know it’s the right thing to do.

Here’s hoping for a step further and some real sanctions on Israel.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 21/09/2025 16:41

So where is Palestine? Is it the Gaza Strip? Does it include the West Bank enclave (I don’t think their leaders want to have much to do with Hamas, they are on different sides of the religious divide)? Is it anywhere that ‘Palestinians’ live?

As for David Lammy’s ingenuous suggestion that they should have a ‘joint capital in Jerusalem’ , presumably he is unaware that the enclave around the Dome of the Rock is part of Israel but run and administered by Jordan, who seem to want nothing to do with Hamas. ( Bit like Egypt, who closed the border years ago).

But hey, it might save a few votes for Labour ….

Fucking this a million times. People just hate Jews though.

Very few people "just hate Jews" and opposition to genocide does not indicate hatred of either Jewish or Israeli people. The Israeli government has had plenty of opportunity to avoid this action. And many people who hate Jews hate Muslims just as much.

There have been many many darker days in British history!
It’s quite refreshing to see Keir Starmer do something reasonable for once.
Shame it is too little and too late though.

Spiritofeden87 · 21/09/2025 16:43

Also everyone on here screaming that it’s the wrong decision.

What about the West Bank that’s governed by the Palestinian authority (nothing to do with Hamas) where Israel has just announced yet more illegal expansion of its settlements?

Anything to say about that? Anything to say about Israel ILLEGALLY bulldozing entire Palestinian communities.

This decision is for those communities too.

SerendipityJane · 21/09/2025 16:44

Whatado · 21/09/2025 15:45

Personally I would find that fact they have willing and quite publicly supported a modern day version of Hitler undertake a genocide in the world view more disgusting.

The Israeli government make me want to believe hell is an actual place.

What has been allowed to happen in Palestine will go down in History as one of the vilest episodes of modern day history.

Depends how dark the days ahead get, really

NormasArse · 21/09/2025 16:44

He’s supporting the Palestinian people who are dying daily, not Hamas. Families are starving, and aid isn’t getting through.

This has been going on for nearly two years....of course aids getting in...there wouldn't be a single person left if there wasn't.

Not sure?? Im not clued up with historic pms of Israel.

Well if terrorism being rewarded isnt your thing then don't look it up.

Absolutely.

He’s also supporting people in the West Bank not governed by Hamas but by the Palestinian authority whose communities Israel is illegally destroying.

No one's free until we all are.

I stand with Palestine

So does that include the hostages Hamas is torturing or do you not count them?

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 21/09/2025 16:46

I agree that Hamas are terrorists and should not be allowed to govern anywhere.

but Isreal have take their retaliation far beyond where they should have. They are committing genocide and anything that can help protect the ordinary people of Palestine is a good thing right now.

You’re not alone in these views, but you should be, and with any luck, you increasingly will be as the world begins to wake up and see what the Palestinians have had to endure for almost 80 years.

Navigatinglife100 · 21/09/2025 16:47

I don't know the answer but we can't simply write off a whole population of people because a terrorist organisation uses them as their cover.

We have to, somehow, recognise these people deserve to be protected.

Happyher · 21/09/2025 16:47

Netanyahu has gone way too far. Most people sympathised with the Israeli’s after the Oct 7 attack by Hamas but his response is wholly disproportionate and he is now the terrorist. No better than Putin as far as I’m concerned. My sympathies are now firmly with the Palestinian civilians
