A light Friday post. What is your go to mug for tea drinking? And do you use a teabag or loose tea with a strainer or teapot?

Lovely thread! I have several stylised animal print ones from this range, the fox is my favourite. Excited that Whittards have their autumn pumpkin tea back in store, lovely loose leaf fragrant blend, will be stocking up today.

I love Emma Bridgewater mugs have loads 💓

I'm very tempted by the tiny Emma Bridgewater cup & pot decorations - I have no need or place to hang a tiny china teapot on a ribbon but I still covet it.

Starlin · 20/09/2025 07:38

It has to be a Glosters mug for me. Nice handle, light coloured inside and big enough for a good sized cuppa.

With Yorkshire tea.

This is what I’m drinking now, I like a cup of tea and my book when I come to beds, this is my wrendale mug.

during the day I tend to prefer a cup and saucer bur find a mug is easier in bed

loose tea with a tea pot here

I love all of the designs they do, but they just aren't big enough for me.

I quite like this bone china one but is 300 mls enough? I don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

This would be called a ‘training cup’ in this house.🤣 Has its place, but not big enough for a proper cuppa. Lovely though.

We’ve had these threads before, and for some reason I find them utterly compelling and charming.

My kind of thread!
My DS bought me this for my 50th. It’s now 4 years old and I drink from it every day. It’s large, chunky and just feels right. Strong, splash of milk. At least 1 an hour when home.

Most days start with this mug. I like a huge mug, thin bone china, white inside. I’ve got a whole cupboard of mugs for just me, each one is meaningful!

This is my favourite mug, it is slightly curved towards the top so keeps the tea warmer for longer. I have the matching teapot and milk jug but rarely use them just for myself but they look good together on the shelf.

I love this, where's it from?

My favourite is a stripey one my cousin bought me for Christmas.

Husband has a different favourite for different times of day! His morning cup is chipped and you cant really see the print any more but he won't give it up because it's big. Then he has a medium one for daytime and small one for evening. It is sacrilege to use the evening cup in the morning.

Gymbunny2025 · 20/09/2025 08:58

Love this thread and every single mug on it 😍 I’ll try and post mine when I’m back from gym although not sure I can choose just one!

scrivette · 20/09/2025 08:59

@sugarandcyanide the brand is Cooksmart and they are usually sold in garden centres, however Amazon do the range as well. I haven’t seen this exact mug for a while but they do similar items.

Gatekeeper · 20/09/2025 09:01

Mine is a large Cath Kidston 'Crush' mug...it is the perfect shape for tea as I dont like tea out of a straight mug or cup. Dont make them anymore so I buy overprized ones from Ebay when I see them.

OMG...I finally found my ideal thread 😀

I have several mugs/cups depending how I feel, at the moment its a cup I got from David Austin gardens, the wonky rim attracted me to it 😁...drinking black Yorkshire

No pics, but imo the Lovevery mug is perfection, and I’ve recently added a couple of Emma Bridgwater mugs to our last few Ocado shops as they’re very pleasing too!

Bottlebluebell · 20/09/2025 09:37

I also have a Emma Bridgewater one that I painted myself at the studio 😬....not my greatest work....it's living at my parents so will take a photo when I'm there, I don't like it here as it has a nickname my ex used to call me and we since broke up....knew I should have just put my bloody name on it 🙄

InMySpareTime · 20/09/2025 09:40

My favourite mug beside my best teapot (Price & Kensington) and my Dangermouse tea cosy.

I’m a bit of a collector. This is my current favourite, by Hornsea Pottery.

I love your ring..May I ask where its from?

Here is mine. It’s from John Lewis. I like a bone china mug and not one of these modern buckets that weigh a ton and make you feel guilty because you can’t manage the bottom half litre of tea. These mugs used to come with gold and silver handles but nowadays only come in blue, pink or plain. I miss my gold handled mug.
When alone, I drink my ‘funny tea’ as DH calls it. That might be Lady Grey or peppermint. But when DH is around its builders. This is Tetley. We would usually have Yorkshire but something has gone awry with that recently - it doesn’t taste right, so we are working our way through the supermarket shelf. Tetley is ok-ish.
This is not much of a Friday night.

Your Friday night is much like mine! I have a similar mug to that. Are you drinking the tea black, or just with only a drop of milk? Can’t quite tell from the picture.
As you can see, my Saturdays are just as thrilling!
