Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

No where. Reform will be a flash in the pan at best. Yes we could piss off back to Ireland but works here. Friends and family are here. Non of us sound Irish so we will be see as immigrants. It rains everyday. Lovely place to go back to for a few weeks but seriously it's a big culture shock full of it's own issues and nuances.

It's just a bunch of lying prats whoever gets in. As it ever was, as it will ever be.

I'm not sure in times of far right rising in popularity across Europe it's not a great time to think white British are immune to not being welcome in someone else homeland.

I live in a lost corner of Wales but I do have Internet 🙂. We are considering Ireland because we can. I am as concerned as you are and I do think a lot of people are underestimating the Reform thing.. Farage is a conman running a private company not a political party that is subject to rules about who is funding them. This painting roundabout bollocks is well planned and local Reform groups are well funded... That TR protest thing in London was horrifying, just the amount of people worried me to death. I too am still reeling from Brexshit and all that's come after it... Like the bigots are out of their boxes and growing. There is also the fact that I feel I've just realised how fucking stupid so many people are and that's blown my mind. I cannot believe so many are taken in by a blabbermouth with a private company and no costed manifesto armed with a list of talking points. Critical thinking is dead and when America sneezes we all catch cold.

Edited

Agree with everything you've said here. So true.

Can everyone please stop coming to Ireland we barely have enough houses for ourselves to be honest!

This post has made me laugh, there’s so many people on here who brag about their Irish passports and how they’re going to escape to the paradise that is Ireland because England is so anti immigration, racists etc, not sure if they’ve been to Ireland but it’s hardly the garden of Eden and not sure they would exactly be welcomed with signs as they roll off the ferry, with free houses and places at the best schools awaiting them …

spoonbillstretford · 15/09/2025 21:27

France, Denmark or Ireland if they'd have us.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 15/09/2025 21:27

AliceMaforethought · 15/09/2025 21:23

There won't be an election for another three years! A lot can happen in that time.

Like what? Keir gone very soon. Who will replace him? Someone who will crack down on immigration which is likely to have become even more of an issue in 2029

smallpinecone · 15/09/2025 21:28

No one will go anywhere 😄

Like all the celebrities who swore they’d leave the US if Trump was elected… they’re still there.

Buddingbudde · 15/09/2025 21:26

I live in Scotland. The ‘progressive’ greens here think women that don’t want trans identifying men in their loos are hateful bigots. Maggie chapman for example is a classic example of a hateful bigot.

KhakiTiger · Today 21:19
If some of these far left so called hateful ‘progressives’ on this thread move away, then that’s a bonus from a Reform win.

Khaki Tiger was referring to 'so called hateful 'progressives' on this thread.
My question was who was calling posters on this thread 'hateful progressives'.

I have an Irish passport and could go if I wanted to. I’d hardly expect them to welcome me though, why on earth would they?

You’d be absolutely mad to move to France. Cheap wine and lovely food but the social climate is horrendous at the minute if you think England’s bad bloody hell!

Foragingfox · 15/09/2025 21:30

Yes the same France that can’t maintain a prime minister and where the democratic consensus has already gone?

When and why did the everyone everywhere turn into such arses?

DinoLil · 15/09/2025 21:30

I shall be going nowhere. Maybe a shake up is what we need.

Buddingbudde · 15/09/2025 21:31

OP you said you turned off the radio when you heard Brexit had won. You’re a fool. Keir made the same mistake you are. If you don’t listen to people, understand their concerns, address them or at least show you’re listening what hope do you have of winning their vote.

Every word Nigel says is total nonsense, but I sort of hope they win to give the other parties a kick up the backside and get out of their middle class London centric bubble.

bombastix · 15/09/2025 21:31

Switzerland

Whatafustercluck · 15/09/2025 21:31

I have nowhere to go, but as a few others have said, why should I leave anyway? I want to stay and fight for decency and tolerance and all the things that have made this country great.

But there is just so much irrational anger and rage around, everywhere. I said the other day, it feels like 28 Days Later when the virus escapes. Someone told me to 'go get raped by immigrants then' just yesterday. You try to have a respectful debate with people and it escalates like that, for no apparent reason. It feels like male aggression is totally out of control, there is no reasoning anymore, no moderate compromise. No rules of engagement. Bleak doesn't even begin to describe it. I've never experienced this feeling before.

smallpinecone · 15/09/2025 21:31

Isn’t it funny how people seem to want to run away from the problems instead of solving them?

DinoLil · 15/09/2025 21:30

But it's not a shake up.if country is in ruins after. No NHS, everyone poorer, US corporations allowed in to pillage everything. There will be nothing left

Don't worry, Reform are pulling a fast one. They're not really going to get rid of all the illegal immigrants. Compared to the governments of most countries they're extremely soft on both legal and illegal immigration, you only think I'm joking because you're ignorant. It just shows you how far left a lot of the Anglosphere and a few western European countries have become that so many people think that Reform are 'Nazis'.

ChaliceinWonderland · 15/09/2025 21:33

SpottyAardvark · 15/09/2025 20:49

What a load of hysterical nonsense.

As a pro-European centrist I certainly won’t be voting for Reform, but I won’t be panicking about them winning the next election either. Farage isn’t a budding dictator or an unhinged psychopath or even a narcissistic orange moron like Trump. He is a legitimate mainstream democratic politician with whom I happen to disagree on most issues. Just like Margaret Thatcher was. Or Jeremy Corbyn. The fact that Farage absolutely refuses to work with or share platforms with Tommy Robinson or allow him anywhere near Reform speaks volumes.

I like your style, spotty.

Wowwee1234 · 15/09/2025 21:33

Netherlands maybe, but not sure I can get the passport now due to legal changes 40 years ago.

Snorebor · 15/09/2025 21:33

I would move to Spain, actually planning on moving there anyway.

Pedallleur · 15/09/2025 21:33

sharlink · 15/09/2025 20:39

So are you all saying you would prefer Labour to stay in ? I'll be voting for reform.

Good news (for you) is that you probably won't have to vote again. That right will be taken away asap

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 21:34

smallpinecone · 15/09/2025 21:31

Isn’t it funny how people seem to want to run away from the problems instead of solving them?

There's no way to solve them though? Politics is corrupted by billionaire donors, our FPTP voting system is unfair

Reform voters dont want to listen to warnings

What are we meant to do

Don’t know but my cousin moved to rural France with her two toddlers after brexit. The oldest one, a girl, has been being horrendously bullied for being English recently despite being very ‘French’ culturally. My cousin has been almost embarrassed to admit what’s going on to us as she’s always been quite proud of moving and getting out of Britain. Her dd is counting down the days she can move back to the uk and attend uni here. Her son has more friends but has issues with things like comments during football matches and piss taking of his (actually Irish, coincidentally) name.
