Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

Why blame the people?

Why not blame the incumbent party for ignoring the people and not doing something to prevent potential extremism?

Why not hold people to account for who they choose to vote for. There are multiple political parties to select from. Blaming one political party for how you choose to vote is childish.

And how exactly you think "services" such as the NHS and the care sector would be performing without migration?

Agree we need NHS workers, but when one immigrant worker brings a family of 4+ with them then there is more demand than supply.

And there is no reason we couldn't hold a huge recruitment drive for the NHS within this country.

Stop patronising people @BeHappySloth. You really think you're superior don't you?

In our local care home, migrant workers (58 of them) have moved from India to fill long term vacancies. Without them, there would be no care, UK citizens have not applied for the advertised vacancies. The Indian workers are all here solo, living in rooms provided on-site.

My LA also has masses of jobs in care, in school cleaning and caretaking, passenger assistants, WRAC staff - all advertised and readvertised. Plenty of vacancies for our population.

UK passport holders do not need an Irish passport to move to the Republic of Ireland.

But no houses any place people want to live, no NHS, lower state benefits and an anti immigrant, nationalist movement which mirrors Reform. So be careful what you wish for!

Our state benefits are much better than the UKs! Plus we have the HSE which is still better than the NHS!

Singapore was too hot and humid for me. I hated it. My migraines hated it. I wish you all the best, but definitely keep your English home, you may be grateful for it.

Yes, I thought Singapore was an interesting place, but it's not exactly liberal, is it? Plus, gay male relationships are illegal. Perhaps @Lafufufu isn't concerned?
It seems not everyone wants to move somewhere more liberal or "free".

Crikeyalmighty · 16/09/2025 19:03

@BeHappySloth strange isn’t it all these posters coming out the woodwork who never seemed to post when the Tory’s were in power creating a catastrophic decline in services, allowing huge amounts of immigrants plus family in ‘to fill gaps’ - issues they created with Brexit. Going on now about tax etc- when actually Labour have changed very little on the tax front for the average Joe. As it happens I have managed to get a GP appointment within 4 days this week and we have absolutely vast amount of road repairs going on . My father in law has had a referral by his GP for some quick private paid treatment ( he doesn’t have to pay) and personally I think Labour are having a better go at stuff than the Tory’s did . I didn’t agree with the employers NI earnings rise but that’s about it - and I’m a Lib Dem voter. If the press keep posting the shit of ‘the gvt are useless’ then we get into the ‘it must be true I read it in the Sun’ territory - unfortunately for Labour they also have the ‘honey and tea for everyone, let’s just invent cash ‘ well meaning but unrealistic if the far left to deal with too

Exactly - they have some very strict laws and fall foul of them, some harsh punishments. I'm not sure if it is ignorance or a belief the grass is greener, but it's not.

smallpinecone · 16/09/2025 19:19

And the first ‘one in, one out’ migrant flight has now been cancelled after protests. Who could have seen that coming…

People had better unfuck their heads and realise what not getting immigration under control will mean. These protesters are doing Reform’s work for them!

RiderGirl · 16/09/2025 19:20

DH has an appointment this week to get a German passport, we've got serious plans to go to France in the not too distant future. But then we'd also consider anywhere else in Europe!

Such as? Poland? Albania? Bosnia?

Why stay in the racist , horrid uk when you have all those options. Mind boggling.

If you’re white, you’ll certainly experience a different kind of racism in most of those, but you’ll be told it’s okay, because they’re punching up.

kinkytoes · 16/09/2025 19:29

BeHappySloth · 16/09/2025 18:50

I'm not patronising anyone, and it isn't that I think I'm "superior". I just think racists are despicable. I make no apology for that.

And you're kidding yourself if you think that it isn't about racism and hate. If it was simply about concern for public services, people wouldn't be shouting racist abuse at black or brown people in the street, they wouldn't be writing racist words all over takeaway shops, they wouldn't be going out on marches to support the racist Tommy Robinson.

You aren't fooling anyone.

You are tarring everyone with the same brush.

Reactionary and foolish.

I'm concerned about immigration but I certainly don't hurl abuse at anyone. Not do I wish them harm.

Your thought process is mind boggling!

chaosmaker · 16/09/2025 19:30

@Bigwelshlamb what I don't understand is how reform is allowed to stand as a political party when it's a company and therefore not a political party. One of the saddest things I've ever seen was farage on the boat coming down the Thames with a load of fishermen out for brexit when he was the one that never attended meetings in Brussels to represent them. It is shocking how little voters know about the people they put a cross next to in elections.

@Humdingerydoo As an Iraqi Jew with dual EU citizenship, I don't know where I'd go as nowhere seems particularly safe for my family.

Doesn't Israel allow all Jews to immigrate and eventually become citizens?

Edited

Because Israel is really safe at the moment, with all the Hamas bombs 🙄

Which countries either have no immigration pressures politically or have already sorted out hardline policy?

I can’t think of many, but maybe there are. They all seem to be facing similar issues or have out in place policy already.

We’re heading to Scotland.

Unfortunately, I don't have any options. If I had a choice I'd move to France.

But the Brexiteers Reformites have taken all my options for . . . Sovrin Tea...

You can still move to France. The only thing Brexit did was ensure that France wants you because you can bring something to the table. Sorry (not sorry) if that seems unreasonable.

CoffeeCantata · 16/09/2025 19:43

I love the UK and particularly England. It has gorgeous countryside and its culture is very important to me.

I will never willingly leave. I feel very lucky to have been born here. I’m patriotic in the old-fashioned, non-nationalistic sense which younger people don’t get because knowledge of this country’s rich culture is much reduced in education curriculums/curricula in the last few decades.

My children’s lovely partners are from Asian immigrant heritage- I’m not a fascist or racist, thanks, OP. I was also a remainer.

But I love my country and I’ll stay and hope to help matters if indeed they’re as catastrophic as you think.

usernamealreadytaken · 16/09/2025 19:46

MyrtleLion · 15/09/2025 22:45

It's scaremongering.

Labour have only nhad just over a year to start refunding the services that the Tories demolished for 14 years with austerity. And they're doing it in conditions of a very tight economy.

It still feels bad, but the Workers' Rights Bill and the Housing legislation will give ordinary people more rights to stay in their jobs and their homes then they've had for 40 years. And that's just the start. Soon the rebuilding of hospitals and greater funding of the NHS will show as wellm

It takes a long time to rebuild what was destroyed in a short time.

The voters are backing Farage as a protest. When it comes to the real election, the best he can hope for is to come third behind the Liberal Democrats and ahead of the Tories, if he is lucky.

There is no magic wand that makes it better except a Labour government. Sure they've made mistakes, but their worst is a thousand times better than Farage or the Tories' best.

“Labour have only nhad just over a year to start refunding the services that the Tories demolished for 14 years with austerity. And they're doing it in conditions of a very tight economy.”

Why do you think the coalition government had to make those cuts in the first place? Because of the utter shit show the last Labour government, who entered their term with a financial surplus, made if it. And don’t try to spout the old “banking crisis” excuse, because, you know, Covid; longer, worse, more expensive.

CoffeeCantata · 16/09/2025 19:46

OP - whisper it but..did you know there are right-wing movements in other countries too?

Have you ever heard of Marine Le Pen? The anti - immigrant movements in Scandinavia? Are you aware of the nasty racist elements in the SNP?

Just wondering.

BerkoFilter · 16/09/2025 19:50

Anyone would think that people struggle at times in any or all countries, when culture feels undermined by uninvited strangers. Strange indeed.

usernamealreadytaken · 16/09/2025 19:50

swingingbytheseat · 15/09/2025 22:51

Portugal or Wales

From the reports in the news, Wales is likely to get a Reform government before RoUK 🤣

And this is exactly the kind of attitude that I believe will tip Reform to winning.

The sweeping statements about the average Reform voters.
I think the sneering will come back to bite a few on the bum.

Yes, but look at the people on that march......
How many of them could formulate a decent argument?
All I saw were people busy pissing in the street, fighting with the police and yelling at women to 'get your tits out.'
