Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

Where do you think Muslims can go thst easily? Except perhaps Dubai.

Or those of us who "look Muslim".

Did I say that Muslim people can go somewhere else “easily”?

I said if I was muslim I would definitely be seeking my exit plan.

Yes. We know exactly what you're here for! 😂😂😂😂😂

Got it in one. Working though.

Falseknock · 15/09/2025 23:13

I have Irish roots through my grandparents. I could move to Dublin or the countryside. I have spoken to my partner about it. He needs to marry me first so we can go together.

Ive literally had my own brother voice support for Tommy Robinson over the weekend. My brother was a fairly neutral, possibly left leaning person a few years ago. Now he spouts crap about sharia law and immigration- it's like he's been radicalised online. It's scary and it's made me fearful

I share your feelings. My generous caring best friend of 18yrs attended the March at the weekend with her disabled son. I feel like I don't know her anymore, I had to unfriend her from FB because her posts are all about her support for this far right cult. It's quite laughable because her son will be the one to suffer if reform take power but she's too brainwashed to see that.

I won’t though I have two passports and will have my 3rd by then.

Either somehow Reform will do a good job which is great.

Or they will be a shitshow and I will hang around to see if their voter take accountability.

My fear though is it will be a shitshow with an explosion in racism.

If I was muslim I would be definitely looking for my exit plan.

Or they will be a shitshow and I will hang around to see if their voter take accountability.

Of course they bloody won't! They'll say the lefties drove them to it.

And this is exactly the kind of attitude that I believe will tip Reform to winning.

The sweeping statements about the average Reform voters.
I think the sneering will come back to bite a few on the bum.

Left v right aside, If someone changes their whole political position/vote because a stranger said hurry words to them on the internet then that is a bit silly.

Agrumpyknitter · 15/09/2025 22:41

God help all the brown and black people. Racism is already on the rise. It will be back to the 70s with dog shit through the letterbox.

A Sikh girl from Oldbury was raped by two white men who told her to go back to her own country.
Tommy ten names told the guys they had the wrong target so meaning that if the girl had been Muslim it would be acceptable? We’re weaponising rape now? Again violence against women always a man. That is the face of Reform whether people on here accept it or not.

Yep, this. ^^

I'm not especially worried about the economic policies of a Reform government, or even their attempts to deport 600,000 migrants, which will fail because of simple limitations of logistics.

I'm much more worried that thugs will be stopping me in the street and demanding to know who I support, or putting bricks through the windows of anyone who had a Lib Dem poster on show before the election, or beating up random brown women, after all of the current anti-hate legislation has been repealed and the CPS has been told not to prosecute violent assaults if the victim is not white.

A Reform government would be qualitatively different from a right-wing Tory government, just as the Trump administration is qualitatively different from a normal Republican administration — the thugs would be in charge, and resistance from civil society would not be tolerated. Tommy Robinson will be PCC for the Met, Katie "I would happily machine-gun the boats" Hopkins will be in charge of immigration policy, and Andrew Tate will be women's equality czar.

And what about Corbyn’s new party? I expect Labour will lose a lot of voters to them

Do you think so? I feel like the wave of Corbyn fever is lost in the past now. We'll see if they ever launch themselves properly.

I mean I 100% know that’s what they will do (I see similar with disappointed Trump supporters) but maybe they will surprise me!!

What's Truss got to do with it?

I just dislike the patronising 'fell for it' tone which the left just can't seem to shake.

ALL political parties are full of wronguns. We might as well let the ones that haven't had a turn yet have a spin of the wheel.

Can't get much worse tbh.

It genuinely worries me that people dont realise this. The economy tanked when truss did her budget as the markets knew it was unaffordable
Farage would be so much worse, much bigger scale
And it will mostly be the people that voted for him that would suffer the most
I'll be fine, I can leave if I want to

Maybe focus on the fact that she is a generous and caring person? I wouldnt scrap the friendship (if you fall into a cult you can fall out) but I would ask not to discuss politics.

It's not like that we've been together for over 20 years and we have 4 children. We can use the children instead?

Sherbs12 · 15/09/2025 23:23

@sleepwouldbenice Totally agree - Farage praised the Truss/Kwarteng budget, saying it was the best Tory one since 1986.

EmmaRose89 · 15/09/2025 23:26

Lots of people have said Ireland and it is interesting how Ireland hasn't seen the huge political shift to the right that we have seen in the UK and much of Europe.

Ireland is more moderate than most counties at present and this is partly due to the electoral system but also because people are generally content with the status quo at the moment.
I think the rise in popularity of Reform and even the vote for Brexit is largely due to people being unhappy with their quality of life which they feel has decreased in recent years. However in Ireland anyone over 40/45 has seen a massive change in the country since their childhood, mostly for the better. The economic boom has seen a huge rise in the quality of life and the country which was so controlled by the Catholic Church in the past has become much more progressive in recent decades. Most people have a very good quality of life although housing is a massive issue, especially for those in their 20's and 30's. Immigration is a social issue but is not a huge political issue. There have been anti immigration riots and sentiment, particularly in lower socioeconomic areas, but it is not as widespread (yet) as in the UK.
There is a strong sense that the Irish have emigrated all over the world and it's their duty to welcome immigrants to Ireland.

AngelofIslington · 15/09/2025 23:27

@Krenonges I’m guessing you don’t have DD’s if you think we are forward thinking up here in Scotland.
Do you honestly think the SNP is forward thinking?

We don't discuss politics which is why I was so surprised she's fallen into it so strongly. I'll always love her but I have already distanced myself, it makes me so uncomfortable that she's changed so much from the person I knew.

Hiptothisjive · 15/09/2025 23:28

I would move back to Canada. We are seriously considering it right now.

Canada is just as screwed, possibly even more so (am Canadian).

Yeah I wouldn’t agree and I’m Canadian too.

Sherbs12 · 15/09/2025 23:31

@kinkytoes The reality is that lots of Reform politicians and donors have had a ‘spin of the wheel’ as Conservatives, some of them part of the previous disastrous government - and there’ll be more of them to come too. I know they like to public criticise the establishment and the uni-party, but that rings hollow as they’re delighted to welcome the likes of Anderson, Jenkins, Kruger, Dorries, etc.
