Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

The Irish government needs to restrict passports and automatic citizenship to Brits with 1 Irish parent. Meaning their parent was born and raised on the island of Ireland ONLY. It's getting ridiculous.

My best friend was born in Manchester in the 1990s. both her parents originally from Co. Wicklow. entire family is Irish, she speaks Gaeilge and went to school in Ireland from 4 till 12 before her parents moved back to the UK again. She's an automatic citizen from birth, which makes sense since she's 100% irish.

its ridiculous to be giving passports to someone with 1 Irish grandparent. The Irish government won't even help actual Irish-born Irish diaspora in their 60s/70s still living in the UK to return to Ireland, but welcomes any old middle class British plastic paddy with deep enough pockets!with a granny passport and the money to buy a house!

Both parents irish, born in england, do not want or ever will want an Irish passport. I'm here til the end. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇬🇧

Why haven't you already left with Labour "running" the show? You would hardly be stupid enough to think that reform would be worse than Labour?

Lilactimes · 15/09/2025 22:38

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 21:27

Agree with everything you've said here. So true.

Yes me too

Dorisbonson · 15/09/2025 22:38

If Reform win, I'll move back to the UK from Dubai and start building homes for people again.

Find it particularly tasteless that leftists are being blamed for the horrifying rape of the Sikh woman in Oldham.
No. No way.

If you think that’s what I meant then you’re insane. What happened to that poor woman was absolutely monstrous and the men who subjected her to that are evil. Was it the fault of the left? Of course it bloody wasn’t. It was the fault of three evil, sick and twisted men.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 15/09/2025 22:38

I think this thread proves what most of us know MN resident left ha e zero clue about the real world. Nearly all the countries listed have far worse problems with anti immigrantion that the UK. All EU governments are desperately trying to find ways to sort out the problem

CallMeMessy · 15/09/2025 22:39

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 20:30

Yes I was thinking Ireland too

An Irish passport is an EU passport so you have many options…

NC543210 · 15/09/2025 22:39

Nowhere as the world is fucked frankly and I dont particularly want to.

We could go to Canada but it isn't looking too great there and we have an eu passport too... again not looking great there ( if you're an immigrant at least, which we would be)
The whole world is turning right wing because they've been ignored for far too long .

I think with the pp saying a lot of the left will up and leave... i actually think this would be the best outcome. Keep the immigrants get rid of the hysterical and hypocritical left.
They're actually the reason that Reform will get in i think. The irony.

Or the other group they'll stay and fight if needed

I am almost certain that nobody will really leave and they certainly won't fight. They'll just moan on MN instead.

I've not decided who I'll vote for yet. I didn't last time as they're all shit.
A lot can change in the time left under this useless government.
I'd say at least make some improvement by getting rid of KS but who will replace him. They're all beyond awful. So God knows tbh.

Betty1625 · 15/09/2025 22:40

Id love to live in Spain 🇪🇸my dh won't be convinced to leave UK though so my options are limited

Did anyone see this lunatic Reform woman at the Reform conference. WTF!

It's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Mad as a brush!

Yet would be more competent than any labour minister.

StupidRules · 15/09/2025 22:40

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 22:27

So I'm supposed to feel sorry for Reform voters spouting abuse and hatred??? They're digging their own grave

I've already lived in Italy and it was absolutely fine. It's completely different if you speak the language and can communicate with people.

Was it? Was that because you are white? Because obviously you don't seem to think it's absolutely fine and easy for anyone brown/black who speaks English to arrive in the UK and have an easy time of it, purely because they speak the language and can prove some sort of right to legitimately be there. They face racism and bigotry apparently, so why do you think it will be different in Italy?

They have a quite hard right wing (and some would say far right wing) government so if it's been different for you there, why exactly? Because you are white, presumably. So how does that make Italy any better or safer or different to the UK for non-white immigrants? Or don't you really care about the levels of racism in the country you move to, so long as you can stick your middle finger up to Reform and the UK?

If you think it's going to be any less racist or anti-migrant in Ireland or Italy or France I think you'll have a shock coming to you.

Agrumpyknitter · 15/09/2025 22:41

God help all the brown and black people. Racism is already on the rise. It will be back to the 70s with dog shit through the letterbox.

A Sikh girl from Oldbury was raped by two white men who told her to go back to her own country.
Tommy ten names told the guys they had the wrong target so meaning that if the girl had been Muslim it would be acceptable? We’re weaponising rape now? Again violence against women always a man. That is the face of Reform whether people on here accept it or not.

Sherbs12 · 15/09/2025 22:41

WillowDB · 15/09/2025 21:09

Reform will get in quite comfortably. Many of the comments on here are indicative of why that will happen.

Some people are in for a rude awakening.

In what way are some people in for a rude awakening?

Have you seen what the Spanish think of the English?

MaybeNotBob · 15/09/2025 22:41

Unfortunately, I don't have any options. If I had a choice I'd move to France.

But the Brexiteers Reformites have taken all my options for . . . Sovrin Tea...

Sherbs12 · 15/09/2025 22:41

Id hazard a guess that they're so confident Reform wont get in but they will.

It'll be like Brexit again. The silent majority.

Hillary17 · 15/09/2025 22:43

Family in New Zealand. We’ve had serious talks about them sponsoring our move if needed should Reform win. Both have specialist skills desired there so wouldn’t be too hard a move to facilitate.

MaybeNotBob · 15/09/2025 22:44

Who do you usually build homes for?

Crikeyalmighty · 15/09/2025 22:44

@smallpinecone and who is the ordinary voter then ? because as far as I’m aware not just Les from Rotherham’s votes or views count - I am pretty sure the 70 odd constituencies that voted Lib Dem think they are ‘ordinary ‘ voters too - or the London population - I’ve got a whole bunch of friends in the north west from an exceptionally ‘working class ‘ and pretty ethnic area - who all think Farage is a bullshitting twat - pretty sure they count as ‘ordinary’ voters too

Jumpingthruhoops · 15/09/2025 22:45

smallpinecone · 15/09/2025 22:17

It’s the one that hasn’t been tried, and proven to fail. People are willing to take the risk. Doesn’t that show you how desperate they are?

This! The switch to Liebour has been an absolute disaster.
Many people in this country are so hard up, they really don't feel they have anything left to lose. So they would happily take a risk/chance on Reform.

MyrtleLion · 15/09/2025 22:45

It's scaremongering.

Labour have only nhad just over a year to start refunding the services that the Tories demolished for 14 years with austerity. And they're doing it in conditions of a very tight economy.

It still feels bad, but the Workers' Rights Bill and the Housing legislation will give ordinary people more rights to stay in their jobs and their homes then they've had for 40 years. And that's just the start. Soon the rebuilding of hospitals and greater funding of the NHS will show as wellm

It takes a long time to rebuild what was destroyed in a short time.

The voters are backing Farage as a protest. When it comes to the real election, the best he can hope for is to come third behind the Liberal Democrats and ahead of the Tories, if he is lucky.

There is no magic wand that makes it better except a Labour government. Sure they've made mistakes, but their worst is a thousand times better than Farage or the Tories' best.

Walkingroundincircle22 · 15/09/2025 22:45

sharlink · 15/09/2025 20:39

So are you all saying you would prefer Labour to stay in ? I'll be voting for reform.

Hmm, think about any women in your family - at the heart of extreme right is misogyny and 'family values' - see Trump and a reversal of abortion rights, white middling men elevated and kiss goodbye to any hope of closing the gender pay and pension gap. Honestly.
