Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

England

smallpinecone · 15/09/2025 22:13

Canada is just as screwed, possibly even more so (am Canadian).

I have black, immigrant in-laws there and they don't report the emboldened racism that's becoming more accepted here, but yes, I've heard things aren't brilliant in other areas.

OneFairMintFawn · 15/09/2025 22:18

OneFunBrickNewt · 15/09/2025 22:12

South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Seychelles.
Possibly Canada; all these countries we can both work (teaching/medical)

Why stay in the racist , horrid uk when you have all those options. Mind boggling.

TheEyesOfLucyJordon · 15/09/2025 20:33

I'm staying. I like the UK 😍

Me to

CheeseyOnionPie · 15/09/2025 22:19

sharlink · 15/09/2025 20:39

So are you all saying you would prefer Labour to stay in ? I'll be voting for reform.

Yep. I’d prefer Labour over that fascist racist twatty party.

Anyone who thinks a multi millionaire like Farage give two shits about the working class is a prize idiot. He’s done enormous damage to the UK with his lies around Brexit and so many are falling for it again.

Look at how the red state farmers in the USA voted and how they’re feeling about it now their crops are rotting in the fields.

Buddingbudde · 15/09/2025 22:19

WilfredsPies · 15/09/2025 22:15

Reform voters don't want to listen to warnings 🤦‍♀️ You aren’t getting it, are you? If you have ever called a Reform supporter and idiot or a racist then this is partly on you. The reason that horrible little man is doing so well is because every time someone has stuck their head over the parapet and raised a legitimate concern about anything, they have been shouted down and told that they are knuckle dragging bigots and that they are just too stupid to debate. Anyone remember Gordon Brown forgetting his mike was still on? So then along comes Nige, with his salmon coloured trousers, a pint in one hand and a fag in the other, telling them that of course they’re not bigots, and they just need to put their trust in him, and he’ll make it all better and fix the utter fuck ups caused by Labour and the Tories. And because he’s bloody good at distraction techniques, and because people are desperate to believe that someone can fix this shit show, nobody is paying attention to things like his plans for the NHS. And then when the inevitable happens, you and your privileged mates are horrified and can’t understand how it has got this bad, and are looking to fuck off to some lovely little ‘bigot’ free paradise. You think calling people names is warning them? You think that every single person attending protests up and down the country is a far right wing fascist racist? Of course they bloody aren’t. But the left has shouted people down for so long, that now we’ve got a situation where people are just tired of being told that they’re bigoted, which has led to the real monsters feeling emboldened to come out of the wardrobe and do horrific things like rape a woman because of the colour of her skin.

I speak three languages and have an Italian passport, I'm sure I'll be fine thanks I think you’ve got a nasty shock coming your way. If you’re not Italian, (born & bred, not just descended from) do you think Italians who are pissed off with immigration will give a shit about what colour your passport is? Do you think other countries will welcome you with open arms because you speak the language? Do you think it’s just the UK that is having this issue?

100% agree. It’s so smug and sanctimonious to wring your hands at nasty Reform voters, while trying to report them for ‘hate crimes’ when they try to voice their opinion.

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 20:41

It's a real real possibility they will get in. I don't want it at all but just look at what's going on and the dark money funding them. It important to be realistic and plan ahead.

I was completely caught off guard by Brexit, never thought it would happen. Turned TV off at 10pm that night. Won't do the same this time.

Farage wants power and he has the backers to get him there

Well that’s a nonsense because the result wasn’t declared at 10 pm that night – it didn’t come through until the early hours of the morning. So now I suspect you’re a scaremongering bot

Retiredfromearlyyears · 15/09/2025 22:19

We are not moving anywhere! We are 68 and 69 .We live in Scotland and we love it here. We are a very mixed bunch anyway. I'm not sure that Mr Farage would make much headway in Scotland. He cam for a visit and the streets were not exactly lined with supporters.

Child in secondary, once they're done we're abandoning them to the Far Right and buggering off!

citygirl77 · 15/09/2025 22:09

You chose to live here, so I am assuming that at the time the grass was not greener. Switzerland won’t let you in, not part of the EU. Yes Italy is far right and Spain is very anti immigration and tourists. So where else? The French are going far right, as are Germany, Belgium etc.

What do you mean I chose to live here? I'm British by birth, just have Italian passport

@Humdingerydoo As an Iraqi Jew with dual EU citizenship, I don't know where I'd go as nowhere seems particularly safe for my family.

Doesn't Israel allow all Jews to immigrate and eventually become citizens?

Beachtastic · 15/09/2025 22:20

I've lived abroad in three different countries and have the option to live in any EU country or Australia. Despite its problems, I bloody love the UK and having returned here, cannot even be arsed getting on a plane again if I can possibly help it.

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 20:30

Yes I was thinking Ireland too

Well 'out of the frying pan, into the fire' springs to mind there. Ireland is going through exactly the same issues with ordinary people resenting the number of migrants arriving. If you think it's going to be some sort of left wing, progressive, uber tolerant utopia you are very much mistaken.

TheSpiritofDarkandLonelyWater · 15/09/2025 22:21

Nowhere. No passport and dont work.

Araminta1003 · 15/09/2025 20:54

I have decided to stay and fight the Manosphere idiots, including Musk and Farage, but I will send my DC abroad to contribute there.
There is no way I am going to believe that Farage and his merry-men of disenfranchised angry bigots represent England.
Hopefully common sense will prevail and there will be some sort of merger of the centrist reasonable status quo. They will just have to put their partisan shite to one side, when push comes to shove.

common sense isn't

They are at war right now, so not the greatest option to move to.

TiredofLDN · 15/09/2025 22:22

NZ. If they’ll have me.

I’m sure many American thought similar before Trump got elected a 2nd time and it really does matter who’s is power.

You misunderstand. The TV was turned off in confident expectation that Remain was going to win. There was no need to stay up and watch the count.

Yes, but I'd rather not live my life constantly waiting for the next terrorist attack to take place. I want to be safe, not in more danger but in a better climate ☀️

As I said, I have an EU passport. I have options of where to live. All those options are currently quite dire though.
