Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

iI voted no in 2014. If those fuckers win I don't want to be part of the UK. I would
vote SNP to try and force another referendum

TheAutumnalCrow · 15/09/2025 22:12

I don’t think people vote for ‘gender identity’ once they understand what it is and what it means for women, children’s safeguarding , women’s sports etc in practice. It has been insanely embraced by all the mainstream parties, including elements of the Tories.

Even Reform have flirted with the idea of putting biological, troubled men in women’s prisons.

You chose to live here, so I am assuming that at the time the grass was not greener. Switzerland won’t let you in, not part of the EU. Yes Italy is far right and Spain is very anti immigration and tourists. So where else? The French are going far right, as are Germany, Belgium etc.

Have they any idea how much English people are disliked in Spain? Try having hospital treatment there to see some really nasty racism.

Could you elaborate on your thought processes there a bit?

OneFunBrickNewt · 15/09/2025 22:12

South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Seychelles.
Possibly Canada; all these countries we can both work (teaching/medical)

CherryVanillaPie · 15/09/2025 22:13

Unpaidviewer · 15/09/2025 22:09

I'm from Scotland and I'm laughing at all the posters who think they would be welcomed with open arms!

Who has said that? I've not seen anyone say they would move abroad and expect to be welcomed with open arms. There are lots of nationalities that wouldn't be welcomed abroad with open arms because of xenophobia.

Canada is just as screwed, possibly even more so (am Canadian).

Well, you couldn't stop us coming up there.

The majority of Scots probably couldn't careless..we are not all English hating loons.

What's Truss got to do with it?

I just dislike the patronising 'fell for it' tone which the left just can't seem to shake.

ALL political parties are full of wronguns. We might as well let the ones that haven't had a turn yet have a spin of the wheel.

Can't get much worse tbh.

Yep it can and will if Reform get in

I’m from Scotland and I’m laughing at people who think coming here would be a better option. It’s as bad as England but the average Scottish government minister’s IQ is lower than the average Scottish government ministers shoe size, and despite getting billions of £ more than they raise they still manage to waste even more than rUK. And the 42% (40% rUK) starts at £43,600 rather than £50k, because the Scottish government needs yet more money to waste.

Can you not imagine that some peoples lives are so shit they feel they have nothing to lose? They are the people voting reform in their droves, just like they voted for Brexit. But these people’s lives just get swept under the carpet by Labour. They’re just treated as bigots.

Exactly @Buddingbudde - people are getting poorer and poorer inspite of voting Brexit. But instead of demanding more from the wealthy and the 1% of people who own 50% of the land in this country, they’re focusing on other poor people who are often in a worse state than they are. They’re not looking at the real reason why their lives are tougher (greater and greater disparity between rich and poor) - they’re just believing jingoistic slogans about people on boats taking all their money. I’m not doubting some people are affected massively. I lived in Haringey for 30 years and only saw benefits to multiculturalism but I’m sure others genuinely feel bad. But I can promise them than it’s the poor distribution of wealth that’s causing their problems and Farage is in no way going to look at ways to fix. So they will be in a worse state potentially.

WilfredsPies · 15/09/2025 22:15

Reform voters don't want to listen to warnings 🤦‍♀️ You aren’t getting it, are you? If you have ever called a Reform supporter and idiot or a racist then this is partly on you. The reason that horrible little man is doing so well is because every time someone has stuck their head over the parapet and raised a legitimate concern about anything, they have been shouted down and told that they are knuckle dragging bigots and that they are just too stupid to debate. Anyone remember Gordon Brown forgetting his mike was still on? So then along comes Nige, with his salmon coloured trousers, a pint in one hand and a fag in the other, telling them that of course they’re not bigots, and they just need to put their trust in him, and he’ll make it all better and fix the utter fuck ups caused by Labour and the Tories. And because he’s bloody good at distraction techniques, and because people are desperate to believe that someone can fix this shit show, nobody is paying attention to things like his plans for the NHS. And then when the inevitable happens, you and your privileged mates are horrified and can’t understand how it has got this bad, and are looking to fuck off to some lovely little ‘bigot’ free paradise. You think calling people names is warning them? You think that every single person attending protests up and down the country is a far right wing fascist racist? Of course they bloody aren’t. But the left has shouted people down for so long, that now we’ve got a situation where people are just tired of being told that they’re bigoted, which has led to the real monsters feeling emboldened to come out of the wardrobe and do horrific things like rape a woman because of the colour of her skin.

I speak three languages and have an Italian passport, I'm sure I'll be fine thanks I think you’ve got a nasty shock coming your way. If you’re not Italian, (born & bred, not just descended from) do you think Italians who are pissed off with immigration will give a shit about what colour your passport is? Do you think other countries will welcome you with open arms because you speak the language? Do you think it’s just the UK that is having this issue?

Humdingerydoo · 15/09/2025 22:15

As an Iraqi Jew with dual EU citizenship, I don't know where I'd go as nowhere seems particularly safe for my family. I can't think of a single country in the EU where I would feel safer being Jewish than I do in the UK. And I don't feel particularly safe here...

Basically, the whole world is fucked as everyone, left and right, are increasingly intolerant of 'others'.

People worry about Farage being PM but it might be more likely to be Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon). He gets a lot of right-wing backing, especially from the US. Most of the people I talk to in my clubs and pub think he is just what we need in politics - "a breath of fresh air".

It’s the one that hasn’t been tried, and proven to fail. People are willing to take the risk. Doesn’t that show you how desperate they are?

Can everyone please stop coming to Ireland we barely have enough houses for ourselves to be honest!

A bit rich considering the Irish have emigrated all over the world. I say this as the daughter of an Irish immigrant and therefore an Irish citizen.

Givemeachaitealatte · 15/09/2025 22:18

sharlink · 15/09/2025 20:39

So are you all saying you would prefer Labour to stay in ? I'll be voting for reform.

Yes, I would prefer labour to stay in. How are reform going to make anything better?

Inyournewdress · 15/09/2025 22:18

I can get dual citizenship also but I don’t feel it will be needed as I don’t think they will win. I also don’t think I would want to just up tails and let them get on with it if they did, and unless my whole family came I wouldn’t be leaving them.
