Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

Can you not imagine that some peoples lives are so shit they feel they have nothing to lose? They are the people voting reform in their droves, just like they voted for Brexit. But these people’s lives just get swept under the carpet by Labour. They’re just treated as bigots.

Yep. They’ve been saying this though for thirty years. No one listens. It never had to reach this crisis point, that’s the thing.

I think Scotland could be a safe haven still as they are much more progressive up there. Although I think Reform also want to concentrate more power back in Westminster, not sure what that would mean for devolution.

I actually live in Wales right now. For the Senedd elections in 2026 I'm voting Plaid Cymru. I'm not a Welsh nationalist but they're only party that cares about Wales

Have you lived in Scotland? Progressive? A lot hate anyone who was not born and bread there. In which way are they progressive?

Viviennemary · 15/09/2025 22:06

SeaAndStars · 15/09/2025 21:20

How many Angela Rayners do you think there are?

Who knows. It took a lot of journalistic snooping to expose her domestic arrangements and house swapping. And the fact she avoided paying £40k tax.

Loubylie · 15/09/2025 22:06

Norway has the Progress party. Much more professional than Reform so even more likely to win the next election.

DemBonesDemBones · 15/09/2025 22:06

I live in Scotland and that’s ^ a load of crap.

OneFairMintFawn · 15/09/2025 22:07

Can't wait, reform all the way then.

I'm a tad older than you, and I feel just the same. I was demonstrating against the National Front in the 70s/early 80s, I thought this racist and xenophobic shite was done and dusted back then. It seems that, like the poor, the fascists are always with us, they just sometimes keep a lower profile.

I have never been as despondent about the future of this country than I am now. And I feel desperately sad for young people. Two of my friends have just been told by their early 20's kids that they are looking to move overseas. One's even considering China.

You’ve spent your entire adult life with your head in the sand.

sunandfizz · 15/09/2025 22:08

I'm not so sure Reform will get in once it becomes clear they have no actual costed policies, and when the impact of leaving the ECHR dawns on the people who need this the most., Also, I don't think Farage wants to be PM. He will run away if it comes to it because he knows he's full of shite. He knows he can't stop boats, he knows he has no economic plan. He just likes agitating from the sidelines, but no way does he want to be actually held to account. Just like the day after the Brexit referendum - he resigned from politics and public life. Do people forget this?

Even if they do get in, the economy would implode and I doubt they'd last a full term.

When all the Reform voters realise they are poorer under Reform (and it has nothing to do with immigrants, it has to do with their education and aspiration and the fact that white working class boys do worse in school than any other demographic - including immigrants) then they'll just vote Labour back in. But then nothing will change for them again. So they'll vote in a more extreme version of Reform. Or maybe they'll vote for Green Party by then, just anything really to register frustration with their lot.

I will be voting for none of them. If we go abroad it would be Lisbon, most probably. If Farage gets in, I'll deny being British until he's gone.

Coolasfeck · 15/09/2025 22:08

Haven’t read the whole thread but DH and I have been having serious conversations around this. I wrote about it on another thread. DH and the kids are dual nationals so we’d move to his home country.

Farage is the reason we have the boat issue (Brexit) and the country is broke, yet the media particularly the BBC are obsessed with him so he’s doing is same old Pied Piper routine. Rather than being able to focus on improving the country, the government is fully focused on boats as a result.

I was watching interviews with some of the attendees at Saturday’s march, one guy had on a USA hat and Israeli flag. The interviewer asked him what the USA and Israel have to do with being patriotic to Britain and he couldn’t form a coherent sentence let alone explain. These are the people we’re supposed to listen to and the voters the main parties are chasing. It’s absurd.

If Reform get in the country is finished.

I don't get what the issue is.

Reform are basically a single issue party. Their entire election campaign is built on stopping small boat crossings. But everyone from all ends of the political spectrum agrees that human trafficking and the modern slave trade across the channel needs to stop, so what's the issue?

Apart from that, they would just be deporting people who don't have a legal right to be here. Again, something that everyone agrees on.

Some of their other policies are bonkers- but every 5 years, there's an opportunity to vote them out.

Keir needs to jump the shark here. Leave the ECHR, create a bill of rights that mirrors it but leaves us free to deport whoever we like. And start deporting people.

Take the wind out of Reform’s sales, reduce the number of economic migrants rapidly and help focus resources on true asylum seekers and the UK public.

These types of threads show how we can all access the same information but come to radically different conclusions.

● PP said the top 20 % of earners will leave if Reform wins. This is a crazy idea as currently the top earners and businesses are leaving due to massive tax hikes and hidden tax hikes. Reform want lower taxes and lower business rates.

● Reform are racist. Their second in command is a brown Muslim....does this show they are not racist?

● Reform voters want benefits. I cannot figure this one out. The current Labour government has seen an increase in overall benefits including a huge increase in disability.

● Reform will send illegal immigrants back. Yes, this is true but I think you'll find every country in the West will begin this. Truthfully we annotation fit every person into Brigain who wants to come. Africa and India would sink the UK physically. Not figuratively. I mean this sincerely.

●Reform are fascists. Well, I doubt many of you know what this means as if you did you'd realise they are far removed from fascists, and perhaps the current government is more closely aligned with this description.

I had the same information as you all, and this is how I perceive Reform. Interesting that people can get such different ideas from the same input.

💯 👏👏👏👏

How have these people’s lives just get swept under the carpet by Labour?

DH and I have discussed New Zealand as a possibility. He has transferable and valued skills. I have none but, thankfully, we can self fund

Krenonges · 15/09/2025 20:53

Well I have an Italian passport but I think Italy is quite far right now so that's a no

Maybe Spain? But very hoy. Or Switzerland?

Winning the lottery would help

You chose to live here, so I am assuming that at the time the grass was not greener. Switzerland won’t let you in, not part of the EU. Yes Italy is far right and Spain is very anti immigration and tourists. So where else? The French are going far right, as are Germany, Belgium etc.

Holluschickie · 15/09/2025 22:09

I have always wanted to live in Thailand.
Nothing to do with Reform ....Just a cheaper country with great food and culture. They have retirement visas! Need to learn Thai though.

It’s already finished, most likely. Labour and Conservative have managed it between them.

Again what do you expect to pay for insurance based healthcare?

What I'm already paying probably! Have had health insurance for about a decade now and I wouldn't be without it.
The idea of having to be treated in an NHS hospital actually makes my blood run cold.

I am EU citizen, husband is british and we are making plans to move too. UK is a dump full of hate, what started off as anti illegal immigration protests ,now all the immigrants get whacked with the same stick. My family with young children has been stalked, harassed and my children have had to witness hate crimes over me having an accent when I speak-thats it,thats the only reason these looneys need to hate someone. I have had even a doctor making xenophobic comments aka why dont you go back where you came from.

Fucking hell, that's appalling.

I'm so sorry you and your kids have had to endure that.
