To ask what’s made you think “I’m getting old” recently?

I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

Melatonin, thyroid tabs, blood pressure tabs, two pairs of glasses, phone, radio, miracle face cream, pain killers, ear buds, water

i wanted to go to a garden centre for a panini and a bit of a nose around

Needing a strategy for getting back up when I've knelt down on the floor.

And a drunk man recently who looked across at me and said "You look just like my fiance. Beautiful, except she's, you know, not old". Worst thing is, I'll take that 😂

No, because I know the woman had no malicious intent, is autistic and goes out of her way to help me.
I just came home and madly Googled 'Botox near me' L E D face masks and every other anti aging treatment Icould think of and wondered if itvwas worth my life savings ( joking!!!)

I always thought my mum was crazy with her own pharmacy bedside table..! Now i 100% relate.

This happens when I see celebrities on the tv and think Jesus they’ve aged. Quick google search shows they are my age 😳

Losing several stone, feeling great in clothes and then looking in the mirror and seeing platysmal bands on my neck that weren’t there before, now all I can think about is a face and neck lift.

Visiting a vintage car show and realising that most of them were from 1959.....my date of birth! I tell my sons now.....I'm not old....I'm vintage.....sounds a bit more glam.

I can run 5km pretty well but had to lie down for two days after hurting my back putting my shoes on 😂 when the GP secretary asked me what I’d done, I told her I’d fallen over and stumbled because the answer was literally ‘nothing I was putting my shoe on’
..I am 38.
I also do a lot of crochet sat in bed in the evenings. My excuse for that is the living room is a building site and so there’s no TV etc!!!

I'm 44 and have started peering over my specs too, I was really quite terrified as I thought I was too young, so its a relief to hear others are similar!!

I dread things falling under my desk just out of reach.

I have to wear reading glasses to pluck my eyebrows, and the glasses get in the way.

The eyebrows now sprout in odd directions (not quite Denis Healey but...)

No one nowadays goes "No!!!! Seriously?! You CAN'T be!!!!!" when I tell them my age. I'm still waiting optimistically for it, but it just never happens now 😕🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve got a little basket with lid on my living room side table, for all of my essentials.

Oh I don't feel too bad now for having a little table that is just for me! I always sit on one end of the sofa so have the table between the end of the sofa and the wall. It's brill! I currently have on it, a book, 2 pairs of glasses (yes, both short sighted and long sighted), a blood pressure machine (thought it was a good idea to get one!), my comb, my wax melt burner and a packet of dog treats!

When I was 64 I could happily do up my bra. In the last two months something has happened and I can’t easily stretch my arm up behind my back to do up the strap 😱
