So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

Check out 4chan and Goyper before deciding he was left wing. I suspect he was a very angry, very confused, very dangerous individual without any of the right support he'd have needed to not be angry, confused and dangerous.

From what I heard he was voicing opinions further to the right of his family’s views.

This is another of the silly talking points that gets cooked up on reddit or bluesky then sent out into the world en masse. On various threads here, in the Times & comments, and no doubt in various other platforms, multiple people popping up with the exact same message- that the question of the killer's motives has been resolved, "he grew up in a conservative household" as if that is somehow conclusive of being on the far right.

Am I also the only person sick and tired of US news dominating our news agenda, and the framing of everything as either left or right wing thanks to the American two party only political system? It’s very polarising.

The reality being that he was heavily involved with Antifa.

He described Kirk as a fascist and had woke/trans/antifa slogans on his bullets.

Vulnerable people can become radicalised by the left’s rhetoric. Constantly calling their opponents things like Nazi is going to cause mental derangement in some. That’s why all of us need to tone down the rhetoric.

Very little evidence of that, but plenty of people trying to push the idea regardless. If this is the only “current” theory you’re seeing, consider widening your sources.

Kirk was hated far more viscerally by the left, as you can see by how they celebrated his death.

I’m not saying it’s not true or that it is. I’m saying there’s nothing anywhere that’s remotely factual and unbiased.

That seems to have started circulating last night. I can't be sure but I think Groypers on 4chan were doing their own digital detecting and one of them seems to have posted a comment saying, "was he one of ours". I don't visit 4chan so I can't confirm the accuracy of this report but that's the best I can do to piece it together.

The killer is reported to have described Charlie Kirk as a fascist. Given Nick Fuentes is far further right than Charlie Kirk it seems unlikely a Nick Fuentes fan would call him a fascist.

He may be biased, I know nothing about him, but he made a statement which was directly quoted so it's not speculation. He would be ill advised to make such an unequivocal statement if he couldn't back it up.

I don’t know they make all sorts of statements in the US. Trump finished the war in Ukraine? It’s been 2weeks hasn’t it?
