Charlie Kirk- and the reality

So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

That's a whole lot of unfounded speculation and wishful thinking.

There is a big divide here between those familiar with the extremist violent culture of the American far right and those who aren't.

Lol. Nah. He was a gay man living with a man who identifies as trans and was as left wing as they come.

Had a trans boyfriend, called Charlie a “fascist”, confirmed leftist by friends and family, confirmed leftist by top officials on the record, including the governor.

His family are conseratives. He was not. Very common for kids to rebel against their parents, which is what he did.

"Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of fatally shooting conservative Charlie Kirk this week, had left-leaning political views, according to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox".

“It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” Cox told The Wall Street Journal in an article published Saturday morning."
https: // thehill.com / homenews / state-watch / 5502176-kirk-murder-suspect-leftist-cox-report?

But, let's be honest, the OP and everyone pretending not to know this already knew the terrorist murderer of Charlie Kirk was left leaning as they come.

You won't do this, but if you had an ounce of decency in you, you would ask to have this garbage thread deleted.

But then again, decent people don't try anything and everything to deflect, derail and blame when a man is slaughtered in front of kids. Decent people just keep their gobs shut except to say "sorry a terrorist slaughtered this man".

Utah Governor Spencer Cox is Republican and was also the source of the 'engraved bullets' yarn. How reliable is he?

Also why this? "the terrorist murderer of Charlie Kirk was left leaning as they come." How would anyone know that? It's the right wing folks who inflict more violence.

I will wait for more information to come forward.

@DinaGoth She did it to me on a seperate post because she didn’t like what I was saying and tried to shut me down by just repeatedly copying and pasting.

She also has a habit of projecting her behaviour on to others. I have tried to have calm discussion and I have been called a ‘cultist’ ‘hateful’ and told that I’m projecting, but she can’t see that she’s spewing hate and anger towards others with no basis, and she’s calling people ‘radicalised left cult members’ but just repeating the same posts about the murderer being leftist with no evidence whatsoever, just pure faith - just like a cult member 😂

I really wouldn’t bother.

GarlicPint · 14/09/2025 05:42

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 13/09/2025 20:48

According to his family he had been voicing left wing ideas at family gatherings even though the family were conservative.
His muttering concerned the family but I guess they didn’t think he would take it this far.

I got the impression he's been voicing 'antifa' opinions, which are not left wing although Americans suffused with polarised politics might think so.

Antifa's mostly bog standard teenage rebellion stuff. It's anti authority, with no affiliation to traditional left/right beliefs. If you wanted to align them with party politics, you'd have to choose anarchism - which is specifically against both left and right political parties.

Tyler's pathetic bullet engravings were all gaming related, not left wing and certainly not Democrat. One of them's a joke about trans/furries having a trouser bulge, which you'd not find any Democrat making (they all pretend the trouser bulges are invisible).

I’m so utterly weary of the constant lies and smearing of anyone who dares to question the “good” and “decent” ideology of liberals/the left. I actually feel despair at how willing so many are to believe what they first see on their carefully constructed social media algorithms with no care to research further. I read the OP and thought I am too drained to even respond to this, and what’s the point anyway, so thank you posting this. I note though that almost half of the AIBU votes show that the OP is considered as NOT being unreasonable even when talking such utter, directed, biased crap.

I am very firm with my young adult children that they MUST research both sides & check for accuracy before they start stomping around in outrage at anything they see on social media. They’re pretty good about doing so now. I would absolutely beg MNetters in particular - as a historically very left leaning site, to consider doing the same. Yes it prevents the thrill of excessive outrage and that addictive feeling that you’re a really GOOD person to be speaking on and displaying your grief on such matters, but if you don’t have ALL the info needed to understand complex situations, then you just end up sounding foolish and biased. Surely no one wants to present in that way publicly?

She claims she’s not MAGA. If that’s true, I’d scoop my own eyeballs out with a rusty spoon. It’s so obvious. So much anger!

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 14/09/2025 06:05

Fact is if you support the absolute right to carry and use a gun then this us a consequence.
I agree with the poster who said a lot of Americans, including CK, care more for the unborn than they do the living.
He wanted to live under these terms.
He promoted this behaviour, he showed no remorse whatsoever for innocent victims of shootings. Let’s he honest, he wouldn’t have any sympathy for himself if he was an outsider looking in.

Question what you are being told. The American right are reeling that it was a young man from Utah- they wanted to use this to incite a war against the left. You have quoted the same governer who, when announcing the arrest, said that he had been praying all night that it wasn’t “one of us”. It’s much easier to find reasons to make him “one of them”.

Don’t take everything at face value. The USA is a very polarised society. Even if this young man had been radicalised with extreme leftist views, he had been raised with extreme republican values. He was raised to shoot guns as a child.

Even if this young man is gay, how do you think his family would have reacted? How do you think his family twoild have dealt with him questioning their republican values? Do you think they would have discussed things openly with him? Respected his questions and given him time to air his thoughts? Made sure he knew that he was loved, whatever his sexuality and whatever his political leanings?

Regardless of whether he was Republican or Democrat or neither, this is an indictment on America and neither side of the political spectrum can deny their role in causing the polarising debate culture of “us and them” that leads to political violence.

Utah is a Republican stronghold and Charlie Kirk went there because he has a lot of support there. Of course it’s a shock that Kirk was killed on his (political) “home” turf in front of a 98% white audience. The alleged shooter was from a Republican family. Of course Utah will be upset it happened there.

After his death, many black colleges had to evacuate due to receiving death threats. The right assumed it would be someone more obviously democrat or brown. So they are now putting unfounded stories out that the roommate is trans and is the alleged shooter’s partner, claiming the shooter is democrat despite being unregistered and despite the bullet casings being inscribed with extreme right sentiment. Who knows that the truth is- but we do know that Trump has reason to make sure the killer is “”one of them”.

I wonder how many of these threads we need…

Loads of them are needed when it is to celebrate the man, his views and mourn the loss of a daddy to tiny children. And to,vilify the left. However, absolutely zero threads required when to point out that, erm, shock, horror - he was assassinated by the far right ( if indeed that's the case)

GimmieABreakOr3 · 14/09/2025 06:51

Can someone define what a groyper and a furry is for me please? 😳

Zonder · 14/09/2025 06:56

This article says TR was an evangelical Christian then says he's Mormon. The two are quite different.

I'm not sure the article is very trustworthy.

supercali77 · 14/09/2025 07:01

The transgender partner thing as started by the NY post is utterly lazy speculation. As mentioned before, the sources quoted that person as being his room mate. Not his partner. And the only evidence of being trans or furry is a photo of the room mate wearing a kinda animal hat and having long hair.

Nothing will be learned. If scores of five and six year olds having their heads blown off their shoulders didn’t work, nothing will.

These American gun law debates will still be going on when we're all dead and buried. It’ll never change.

This. Once you’ve accepted dead children as a price worth paying, the debate is over.
