My son has gone on the march

Hi, have been on here years but only lurk, don’t post. But today is the day.
I am in bits. My 22yr old DS is in London on this march. I am shaking and utterly appalled. We differ on politics massively and have done for some time. I work in education, have travelled and am bit of a lefty hippy but to be honest it’s becoming more about values and morals. He is fully immersed in the manosphere algorithm and I’ve always thought he is exploring himself and things and have chats about why he has the opinions he does and try and understand his point of view. I try not to belittle him but try and get him to critically think about things.
But this I can’t deal with. I am so upset that my son has gone to this, and that it is something that is so far away from me and my values, something that I thought I had instilled in him as well.
I am totally aware that it’s triggered embarrassment but that is my issue and I’m not putting that on him. He is still my son and I love him and his passion and interest in the world, just in something I believe is so wrong and makes me sad.
Please talk some sense into me.

Have been watching the march being streamed on various YT channels. Looks great! Can't wait to hear Bishop Cai Dewar and other speakers. Very strong Christian presence.

Oh, the “I’m a Christian but …” contingent, they must have god on their side then 🙄

What like they did Brexit? Please tell me how anyone benefitted from Nigel Farrages deals? He even fucked up the return agreement which makes it harder to send immigrants back, meanwhile higher food costs, higher bills the list goes on......

It was Brexit that caused the UK to withdraw from the Dublin agreement, meaning that asylum seekers arriving on small boats can no longer be returned to the last country they came from and have to be processed here in the UK.

Cynically, I would say that Farage is laughing all the way to the bank. He supported this and has benefited from it more than anyone else (Tory donors who happen to own shares in hotel chains not excepted).

You need to find better news outlets

Just because you don't like the source doesn't mean it's untrue.

God British guilt is sooooo boring, especially when it relates to events that aren’t even in living memory.

unless you did these crimes, or anyone you know, it’s not really relevant about discussion on what happens today

It’s completely relevant now. It’s the only reason why my parents were able to come here to live. Sorry if the consequences of the actions of the British empire bores you, though.

Plenty of coded antisemitic, Nazi-style and conspiratorial messages on the signs at almost every pro-Palestine march. Do you feel the same outrage about them?

Yes, I have posted extensively about antisemitism in pro-Palestine marches.

So we can agree that Nazi-style and conspiratorial messages are bad wherever they come from?

You sound so balanced and sensible. It's so sad that young people can get dragged into this hate. Some do come out the other side, so just keep being calm and loving and be ready for him.

Really! 'In bits' and shaking? Doesn't sound sensible to me

This thread alone shows the division this march has created. Its very depressing to see the UK population being pitted against eachother.

The Elites are laughing

Laughing while they buy up all the UKs assets and strip it bare and hoard their wealth abroad. Funny how corporate migration is never challenged.

If you're a billionaire who has benefited from trickle up late stage capitalism and you have two political ideologies to choose from, to back with your money, either

Liberal socialist, pay more tax and distribute wealth more equitably

Or

Far right, more big capitalism, more tax breaks

You will put your wealth into supporting Far Right, because it supports the status quo. Whilst the little people are fighting amongst themselves they are easy pickings. They are weak.

To me, the so-called Christian nationalists are the anti-thesis of what I believe in. They're to Christianity what the Taliban are to Islam.
F them.

Mass immigration is. Before 1997 migration was relatively low, in the tens of thousands and before the 1950s almost negligible, the UK was almost 100% ethnically and culturally homogenous (from Anglo Saxon and Celtic peoples). After Blair it was in the hundreds of thousands and recently in the millions.

And before the second world war, most immigration was from culturally similar places, including Ireland and Europe.

As suggested to a previous poster, watch Human. Enlightening. Anglo Saxons and Celts were descended from immigrants.

Are you smoking crack?

Has Farage/Robinson published a new Mein Kampf? Are we going to see France as Lebensraum? Will the they be setting fire the Reichstag/Parliament?

That's really rude and insulting, why the need to ask if someone is smoking a highly addictive drug?

Except the British Empire has been over for quite some time so it may be relevant to YOU as a person (sort of) but it’s not relevant to the issue of immigration into the U.K. now, is it. Or should the U.K. shoulder guilt and burden as reparations from the BE? How long for? To whom?

Only on mumsnet will people respond to “my 16 year old daughter wants sleepovers with her bf” with she’s an adult and can do what she likes, but are more outraged for a 22 year old man to have a different political opinion than his mum.

The hypocrisy is comical 😂

I agree it's the far right that go poking them especially the likes of Charlie Vietch who was taking 15 year olds to festivals when he was 30 and Dje Media who had numerous charges against him for crimes against woman.

I said I was making a general point about making a stand on right or wrong but many commentators have drawn comparisons with then and now.

The Dublin Agreement was a waste of paper and wasn't effective, either for countries or asylum seekers -

Whenever anyone calls in to Any Answers, for example, and begins with “I’m a Christian, but” it’s a pretty good indication that they are about to express the most extreme, hateful views.

user1492757084 · 13/09/2025 14:08

I don't see the marches calling for harm to any citizen or that Britain becomes white. There is no call for some British citizens to be treated differently or to be under valued.

I see a call for protection for all citizens and all forests, critters and habitats from the destruction, disruption and havoc caused by unplanned over population.

And also from the danger of unknown people landing on shores uninvited. We don't know their disease status, names, their violence levels or their reasons for leaving.

Political immigrants should be entering via proper chanels. Those paying money to people smugglers are increasing the illegal people smuggling trade.

Yes, I don't understand this, import from the U.S. maybe? I was christened in an Anglican church and attended their Sunday school, it was lots of stories about Jesus helping the poor. My Dad didn't agree to the Christening (agnostic) but being reasonable people they worked it out with words.

This is what I do t get, I cannot for the life of me understand why people still trust this man it's going to totally kill our country.
