I was just thinking this! They are all so beautiful 😆

My kitchen isn't "huge" by any means - approx. 15.5ft x 17ft.

AliciaLeeming · 13/09/2025 21:33

Mine is in mid makeover so looks a sight. It is a hand built1970s kitchen made from solid wood but a very dated orange stain with red and white tiled worktops and walls

The worktops are now a dark grey but all the doors and drawers have been taken away to be painted in Forever Green's Portland Stone colour. We'll be adding brushed bronze handles. I've yet to decide on the colour of the tiles and the walls as I'm waiting for the painting to be finished but will probably be a tasteful neutral with some colour on the walls

This is mine. Rose pink units and a pale cream island. The photo was taken when it was first fitted - hence no mess or clutter!

Gorgeous! I love chimneys in kitchens to hide the extractor hood away and provide a focal point (like a fireplace in a sitting room). 😍

Mine is green and simple, we have limited space but also a baby so added a table in the middle of the room, so we can all eat together. The bannister/posts are now also sage green but haven't got a photo of this.

My little black cat sits right up high on top of my kitchen cupboards just like this!!

We lived with a vile MFI kitchen for 25 years. It was a horrid kitchen, badly planned and installed in a very small room. 25 years of not being able to have anyone in the kitchen with me, as no matter where they stood, they were in the way.

Years of saving, and we extended and put a new kitchen in last year.

It is from DIY-Kitchens, and the colour is Cornflower. Depending on the light, it can look blue-ish, green-ish or grey-ish. I still, 15 months on, can't decide what colour to have on the walls - all suggestions welcomed. I've used blue accessories, so want a colour that will emphasise the blue-ness.

Last Christmas, I could have cried with happiness, as me, my husband, three (adult) children and a grandchild all congregated around the island, prepping and cooking Christmas dinner.

These photos were taken shortly after installation. It looks much more lived-in now, although I have plenty of cupboard space to put stuff away - especially in the cavernous corner larder 😅

You haven't uploaded the photo's ... and I'm really looking forward to seeing it! 😊

Absolutely LOVE this.

Are they all tables, no fitted work surface? What are the baskets in, is it one of those ikea slotted cupboards? What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a kitchen like this? I rent, but if I had my choice I’d have something like this.

These are are two tables off Amazon ,called Vasagle, plus one Vasagle trolley. They are dark wood with metal racks. Extremely sturdy. Easy clean.. I put various stuff in the baskets underneath. Storage baskets all off Amazon No fitted worktops, and an old sideboard, and I've a tall white bookcase for dishes, a wooden tall cupboard with glass door for tinned foods .
I prefer this as I can reach everything, the cupboards aren't too deep or too high. I can pull everything out to vacuum. The only fitted thing is the double sink and dishwasher which is in dark brown.
I used old floorboards for the shelving with clip on spotlights . And I have several table lamps for a cosy feel.

Whole thing cost just a couple hundred pounds.

Thank you for this, I’ll go for it if I ever move away from rented. It’s exactly the vibe I want.

Hell of a lot huger than my 10.5ft x 9ft!

Middleagedspreadisreal · 13/09/2025 22:10

Pintrest is good

@TeenLifeMum this is the kitchen I want 😍 where is it from please?

Love this one. Where did you get the custom doors?

Naked Kitchens, they make doors to fit IKEA units. The wall cabinet was from them as well. The room is 3 x 4m, so not huge. I made the wall shelves from B&Q planks, and the extractor was a sheet of brass foil I aged with vinegar and wrapped round an ikea unit.

toonananana · 13/09/2025 22:27

Open plan period house. This used to be a ‘gully’ kitchen which has been opened up. The kitchen’s from Ikea and about 20 years old. I have zero funds to do it up atm but will paint the cabinets a lovely pink colour at some point!

Just finished and the experience has been a pain in the butt. Never again 🙄

This is mine, walls are Dulux jade white, just a hint of pale green.

It's not a fitted kitchen. I bought free standing tables from Amazon and I used an existing cupboard for storing food

Looks great!

I've got the same baskets in my linen closet (they fit a lot in!) and a smaller version of your counters as a table beside the couch - it has usb and power points, so very handy 🙂

Childrenare4life · 13/09/2025 22:41

I'm actually in the middle of decorating mine from green to pink, hence the mess. I don't expect others to like my kitchen as it's not the norm but I'm not either.

Oh my goodness - I feel this is the kitchen I put into my old house!!! This would be too weird but do you live in a town that starts with T and ends in G????

Algoquick · 13/09/2025 22:47

This was mine just after it was installed. I love the colour.

These are all beautiful kitchens … have you all spent hours cleaning before posting 😆
I am away from home but my kitchen bench holds the detritus of the day.

Easy to be spotless when it's just been installed 😉 my house is lived in

What gets me (I look at houses so much they're automatically in my feeds...) is the people who buy houses with obviously new, perfectly good kitchens, who go "the kitchen is not to my taste so I'm going to redo it" and rip out a perfectly good kitchen before even using it for a bit to understand the flow and rhythm of the house. Yes, I'm super jealous they can afford to do such major work right away, but I also think you need to live with spaces first to understand how you naturally use them and what will work best.

When we moved in to your house we said ‘the kitchen needs to come out straight away’. It was 12 years old at the time, and must have been a fairly ‘old fashioned’ style when it was installed. 8 years later it’s still here 😂.
