I am looking to redecorate, my kitchen is very tired. I want something neutral enough or possibly light green. Anyone want to show me their kitchens for ideas? im really bad at this and find googling images just gives me perfect instagram kitchens. Thank you

I agree. It's absolutely charming and warm-looking. 😊

Is that the one with the floral tablecloth? That's my favourite, too 😊

your kitchen is beautiful, those handles are exquisite

Oh and I would get a splash back from this place - I only found out about it 3 months after our kitchen was done....

In most of our home we've opted for coastal colours on the blue side of the palette, but green is a favourite of mine too. Unsurprisingly I like the blue and green kitchens the best - and green and pink go so well together!

No, it's got floral wallpaper and blind - it's no. 11 in the photo gallery.

Oh right, yes I like that one. Floral wallpaper in the kitchen is such a great idea.

Beautiful! How do your keep your flooring grout so clean, is it protected?

It’s Amtico so just gets a good clean weekly :)

We had an extension and new kitchen last year. Think it’s still missing something in that big space above sink - maybe a large clock?

it’s an L-shaped room so where I stood to take pic is a sofa and tv area. Then to left of kitchen on photo is a dining area with cocktail cabinet and bookshelves.

We had so much stress and unexpected cost renovating our house, including a lot of uncertainty over getting back in due to a lot of issues arising (part of house is 1800’s) - it was one of the most stressful times of our lives.

Love it and has changed how we live as a family but not sure I’d do it all again with the benefit of hindsight!!!

Lovely.
I'd put a painting there or an antique mirror with a frame matching your pendant lights.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/09/2025 13:10

Nobody’d want to see mine - installed late 80s and until now I just couldn’t be bothered with all the faff and hassle of re-doing it. But the microwave bit of the combi oven has packed up - TBH I’m amazed that it’s lasted so long!

Now need to gird up my whatsists and look into a new one.

I have once or twice started the process before, but kitchen designers have put me off - telling me what I want! Kitchen is not large and we have 3 doors off it, so options are limited. It was pretty state of the art in the late 80s and the layout/cabinets all work fine, I just want more or less the same again - but new!

Most annoying was the designer who insisted that having a dishwasher (as I have for decades) means I don’t need a draining board. Yes, I do! We still have some things that need hand washing.

We saved up for a decade as we wanted something unique, not a boring kitchen from IKEA, Wren etc. It is a real work of art. I have sensitive-imaged it as it may make you so jealous you'll need therapy.

😱 words fail me!

I love all the pictures of kitchens! You have beautiful homes.

I have a dilemma. We bought a house last year and loved the kitchen. Objectively, we think it’s better designed than our own interior design choices would have led us to.

Then we had a fire and have had to move out of the house for at least 6 months. Sad times 😕

It does mean, however, that we can redesign the kitchen from scratch. We’ve met the kitchen designer who installed it previously and looked at lots of different choices but we’re thinking of reinstating the kitchen as it was. We will change some things—slightly bigger island, oak effect tiled floors instead of grey, a few better fitted features like spice rack and chopping board rack, new appliances, but essentially it will be the same cabinetry and colour.

Looking at design advice, a lot of people advise neutral cabinetry and shaker styles as having the most longevity, but I feel I love the colours, they give me joy, and can always be repainted if I wanted cream later…

After lots of mulling about door styles, I think we will stick with the flat handle-less oak cabinetry, so it’s really about colours that I’m struggling. I’d welcome thoughts on whether others like it too, or whether it is very individual taste and I would be crazy to not change it to neutral palettes when I have the choice!

If you like the colour then use the same.

Looks harsh on here, but the oak effect floor will add warmth.

Some stunning kitchens on here ❤️

We're in the process of doing our kitchen (moving it to a different room of our downsize cottage), and will try taking a few pics that don't show it at its worst in a mo, but for now here's our old one in the house we sold last year.....

Current sage green kitchen. We're hoping to move soon and the new kitchen will be yellow.

That's a lovely kitchen, is the house already up for sale?

DumbleDawn · 13/09/2025 14:02

@LeticiaMorales yes, and these are the agents pictures. It's normally a lot messier!

LibertyLily · 13/09/2025 14:03

So, our new kitchen is going in the former living room, which is open to the dining space.

Currently we have no oven (it's been in the garage since last Dec, so lots of airfrying), no taps (have been using a temporary tap in the old kitchen since Feb!) and no proper worktops, plus I'm still waiting for OH to make some doors for integrated dishwasher/recess wall cupboard/pull-out bin cupboard.

The cabinets are a mix of preloved (eBay finds) and a couple from the existing 1960s kitchen.

We had the wood burner installed soon after moving in last year when it was still a living room, but we had one in our previous kitchen and think it adds character, so going to keep it!

It's so much smaller than kitchens we've had previously, but I'm determined not to sacrifice style despite lack of space.

Behind your cooker, is that wallpaper or tiles? I really like it, either way!

Thank you! They were from yoursplashbacks.co.uk - I just tried to visit the site to link for you but it’s down for maintenance. They were called copper plate. The biggest one behind the cooker was 1100 x 730mm and was £195, but there was 10% off when I placed the order. The one across the sink was 795 x 910 mm, and you probably can’t see in the photos, but we had two matching worktop savers as well. Just over £400, all in, so really well priced. Took me ages to find one I liked 😂

Thankyou so much. Our kitchen was fitted two years ago and I still can't decide on a splashback 😆. We've got copper handles so this just looks like it would go perfectly. Thankyou for sharing
