Woman shouted because Dd wee’d in the car park

1000 replies

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 21:56

Dd, 6 and I were at the supermarket today
We were in a rush, had walked all the way back to car, I was struggling with three large bags, putting them in the boot.
Dd was moaning and difficult most of the day, she said she was desperate for the toilet. I said to just wait a moment as I had to put the bags in etc and we’d go back. She started getting upset saying she was really desperate and about to wee and could she wee by our car quickly. I let her.
As I was fastening her car seat, an older woman walked past and shouted’There are loos inside you know!’ in not a very nice way. I shouted back ‘Excuse me?’ She said she was just saying there were loos inside that can be used (again, it wasn’t said in a nice way’ I said to her ‘She’s 6 years and was desperate and couldn’t hold it in, she’s 6!’ She pulled a face and got in her car.
Dd was upset and asked if she’d done something wrong and felt scared of the mean lady.

It really pissed me off, was I out of order??

The issues you refer to - 4 year olds turning up in school in nappies are entirely different to a woman & a child having a bad day or a child having an accident.

Some 6 years olds have the odd accident and they always did. So resit the urge to pile on the OP.

How so?

It's still parenting to make a decision to piss in the car park rather than try and get to the toilet.

The rest of us manage by going through the routine of making sure there are regular toilet breaks so our children don't get caught short. Again parenting.

Everyone else does not have camels for children. They manage the situation to prevent the need to piss in the car park.

There are a few children with medical issues but the rise in children not being toilet trained is down to parents making a conscious decision not to plan getting their children to the toilet at the appropriate age/time.

basinbasin · 06/09/2025 05:33

@Empress13 why can't people carry water to wash away their digs wee? or train them to wee in a drain? You can get dog nappies if your dog is incontinent, maybe see the Vet!

Oh bore off!! We are talking about dog wee not poo which is a totally different matter and should always be removed. Dogs are trained to pee outside you carry on walking yours with a flamin hosepipe attached to your doggy treat bag and poo bags ! A human peeing in a public car park is a totally different matter when outside a supermarket

CoreyTaylorsbiggestfan · 06/09/2025 07:46

my Daughter is the same age and I would have expected her to wait until we got back in the shop.
not once has she passed urine outside, even when she was potty training.
Urinating outside in a public car park disgusting

How so? Because those parents have failed to make any effort to toliet train their children (SEN aside obviously) and are happy to hand them over to a school and leave the school deal with it.

It’s not even in the same ballpark as a mother failing to take a child to a toliet one time!!

Goingncforthisone · 06/09/2025 07:49

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 22:03

There was no one really around, we were parked in a quiet spot away from other cars quite far from the doors

You've missed the point here. Someone might still park there 5 mins after unaware of the piss puddle. They or their child might step in it, or put their shopping bag down.
It is so grim and I can't understand why you thought that was ok.

basinbasin · 06/09/2025 07:49

Oh bore off!!

Another brilliant contribution!

We are talking about dog wee So why is dog wee ok but child wee isn't?

Parenting of the year award.

My 7 year old went to a church BBQ this year downed a load of squash & wet himself on the way to the toliet.

We do not all have the same children.

And before anyone comes for me about my “lazy parenting” the whole thing happened in a matter of minutes.

PetuniaPetuniaPetunia · 05/09/2025 22:02

Yes that’s pretty disgusting. You can’t let her just wee in places that aren’t toilets. What if everyone did it? The lady was correct to pull you up on it.

I was going to say the same thing. What if everyone let their kids ? Life would be pretty unpleasant ? If it was a one off fine but try and get into habit of making them go before trips out. I was in Brighton once son and friend had just been on the trampoline a little boy holding his mum hands came down the steps pulled his trousers down on the steps and did a wee . Yuk disgusting !

You said it! Urine doesn’t pass through the body in minutes

The “mean lady” being you OP

basinbasin · 06/09/2025 07:56

The only message I would encourage the OP to take from this thread is that such threads turn into a pile on, and that unfortunately there is something in people where they can’t resist joining in a pile on.

She was mean, she had no idea of our circumstances and it was none of her business

If something is happening in a public place, then it is other people's business. If you wanted privacy, that is what the toilets are for.

Absolutely pick apart what I say and judge me! Thats why people seem to be here!

Vintagenow · 06/09/2025 07:58

Gross. A woman let her son do this right outside my local supermarket recently, toilets literally a few seconds away, in front of loads of people on a very windy day. As I walked pass the wind blew his piss upwards and I felt a splash on my face Envy Meanwhile mum is whooping and cheering at her small child pissing next to the bike racks. I was actually speechless for the first time in my life.

Fluffypotatoe123987 · 06/09/2025 07:58

Nah id have done the same as you. Pee on the tyre just check no one is around

Many children (and adults, ha) have accidents - that's very different to having an expectation that it's ok to go in a public space, and with toilets nearby.

A child is weeing in a public carpark, yet we're nasty? Hmm, OK... 🤔

Yes, you are. And if a young child getting caught out and weeing in a carpark is so 'awful', 'disgusting', 'nasty' etc to people I'd suggest they've lived quite a sheltered life.

Or…. If you ask an anonymous forum whether you’re unreasonable or not about something, brace yourself for posters siding with the person in real life who thought you were unreasonable

MyCoralHedgehog · 06/09/2025 07:58

It’s absolutely fine. People are just being mean. It took seconds and would have soaked into the ground immediately.

for those that suggest using porta potty etc…. Where do you empty it in similar circumstances?

Good job you had your mouth closed

MissedItByThisMuch · 06/09/2025 08:00

Good Lord! This is another of those MN-is-a-different-universe occasions. In my world everyone understands that little kids (yes, in my world 6 is still little) get caught short sometimes. And people are kinder and less judgemental. But they also let tradesmen use their loo, are relaxed about shoes in the house, answer the door, and don’t consider it disgusting to only shower once a day in the morning. Sometimes I’m glad I don’t live on planet MN.

darksideofthestudio · 06/09/2025 08:01

@Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist you know your daughter can’t hold her wee, yet choose not to be proactive about this? In your situation, I would be checking in with my DC regularly to ask if they need the bathroom to avoid this exact situation! You need to step up here and be a more responsible parent.

I would have also returned to the store, bought a 2L bottle of water and doused the area where she had taken a wee to dilute as much of it as possible to reduce it being walked in and spread to cars etc. Very grim if you didn’t do this!!

coravantexel · 06/09/2025 08:03

I have a 6yo so I’m very aware that the urge can come on quite suddenly, and usually at the most inconvenient moments. I do think in this case you should have taken her back into the shop.

I wouldn’t let my DD wee in a car park although I would if we were in a field or woods in the middle of nowhere, on a walk, say. It’s about her privacy as much as anything - I think kids need to learn that peeing is something you do in private and not where others can see. She also needs to learn that she has control of her bladder and have the confidence to hold it even when she’s desperate.
