Woman shouted because Dd wee’d in the car park

1000 replies

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 21:56

Dd, 6 and I were at the supermarket today
We were in a rush, had walked all the way back to car, I was struggling with three large bags, putting them in the boot.
Dd was moaning and difficult most of the day, she said she was desperate for the toilet. I said to just wait a moment as I had to put the bags in etc and we’d go back. She started getting upset saying she was really desperate and about to wee and could she wee by our car quickly. I let her.
As I was fastening her car seat, an older woman walked past and shouted’There are loos inside you know!’ in not a very nice way. I shouted back ‘Excuse me?’ She said she was just saying there were loos inside that can be used (again, it wasn’t said in a nice way’ I said to her ‘She’s 6 years and was desperate and couldn’t hold it in, she’s 6!’ She pulled a face and got in her car.
Dd was upset and asked if she’d done something wrong and felt scared of the mean lady.

It really pissed me off, was I out of order??

@NotAhotWeatherPerson you think twice a year is regular?

Not really, but that information came later.

It came before you referred to my son as “not normal”.

Small children is a completely different thing surely?!

Your DC is 6, that’s not a tiny child anymore. Even with toddlers I wouldn’t expect them to wee in a car park on the hard tarmac. Did you just leave the puddle of wee? If your dd struggles with to hold it for a few minutes then you should probably get a portable potty for times like this.

basinbasin · 06/09/2025 05:59

Not really,

How so?

but that information came later.

No it didn't, you used the word regular after the poster replied to you.

Keep trying though, you are amusing 🤣

basinbasin · 06/09/2025 06:01

You are not a doctor*

Of course they bloody aren't! What doctor would not understand what the word regular means!

NuovaPilbeam · 06/09/2025 06:04

She was weeing, can’t hold her wee for long sometimes and would not have made it in time

Sadly, she won't learn if you let her just pee anywhere. You needed to take her in to the loos

She's six and you are still teaching her it's ok to piss in a car park instead of saying no it's not ok, we need to go to the toilet.

No it's not ok.

And what if she wet herself on the way to the loo and got pee on the shop floor?

Boglets · 06/09/2025 06:07

All the perfect prissy pants on here! It was fine OP, she’s little and was desperate. It’s not like it’s a regular thing.
If she’d pissed her pants, you would have had to drag her dripping in wee all the way to the toilet, I’m sure all those commenting that you’re disgusting would prefer to traipse through her trail of urine. Honestly 🙄

CatchTheWind1920 · 06/09/2025 06:14

If she was that desperate, she would've told you in the shop surely? I can't understand how in the space of a couple of minutes she needed so desperately that she couldn't wait another couple of minutes to go back to the toilet?

Backinajiffy · 06/09/2025 06:17

Whatever the age, children, medical, when you absolutely have to go, then you have to go, (as discretely as possible).

I’d have told the pearl-clutching old bat to mind her own fucking business.

I don’t think I’d have said it but I’ve been tempted to ask why she was staring at a minor in such a situation.

Kbroughton · 06/09/2025 06:18

I wouldn't have an issue if a child weed in the car park. I would assume it was a desperate situation, have sympathy and move on. I do take exception to grown men weeing on the side of motorways in full view of everyone which I see fairly frequently.

tuvamoodyson · 06/09/2025 06:20

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 22:00

I’m really shocked, she’s still quite little and cannot hold it when it gets to this stage
It would not bother me to see a child do that either, I completely get it

It doesn’t bother YOU because you allow it…there’s absolutely no need for it unless she has urinary problems, in which case, seek medical help.

Henbags · 06/09/2025 06:30

You should have taken your poor daughter, who was clearly struggling, to the toilet. We have all been in that situation, 6 years old or not, when we are desperate to get to the toilet, and pissing in the supermarket car park is not the answer! What did you have in those 3 sodding shopping bags? Bodies?!

tripleginandtonic · 06/09/2025 06:31

At 6 she should have waited to go in the shop. Yabu.

I’m “completely ridiculous” i.e. an imperfect human who sometimes makes mistakes & ends up in emergency situations where less than ideal things have to happen too.

So do you call out every dog owner who let's their manky mutt piss and shit on pavements/in parks (etc)? Why is this socially acceptable? And those of you who think nothing of letting little Tarquin have a 'wild wee' on a woodland walk, how is this any different? A kid having a quick wee in public isn't really doing any harm, just look away.

Because pissing on tarmac in a car park usually leaves a horrible stench as you’d know if you’d had the pleasure of walking down alleys or up stairways where people have pissed. It doesn’t stink if it’s on a woodland walk. With dogs, you get fined if you don’t clean up their poo. Also the OP’s daughter is not a dog and she’s 6, not a small child.

Namechange2567 · 06/09/2025 06:36

YABVVU
I have a birth injury that resulted in me now feeling quite urgent when I need to wee. Can I piss in the car park? No! I plan my toilet stops with this in mind and I’m paying a lot of money to try and fix the issue.

Get her to the doctor. Imagine if a child from school saw, she’d never live it down.

OP was having a bad day by the sound of things. No need to join in on the pile on.

She was mean, she had no idea of our circumstances and it was none of her business

No she wasn’t mean at all, just correct. However I don’t think you’ll take on board the majority of the comments here.

I dont think 6 is that small. Fair enough in middle of nowhere but not supermarket carpark. It is unfair on her too, imagine someone she knew noticed.

dahliadream · 06/09/2025 06:46

I am shocked at these comments. I have a 3.5 year old and have often had to stop the car so that she can do an emergency wild wee on a grass verge. I couldn't care less about a child doing an emergency wee in a car park, it will dry quickly and the rain will clean the tarmac. As has been pointed out, I have seen many a drunk man weeing against a wall on a Saturday night and I think that's much less excusable!

Why are people so hyper focused on whether DD is a “small child” or not. The poster called her a “kid”. She is a kid, and no doubt a pretty tired grumpy kid settling back to school.

If she was having a bad day and it was a one off “whoops” she wouldn’t have asked on AIBU as she’d know it was wrong.
