Woman shouted because Dd wee’d in the car park

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 21:56

Dd, 6 and I were at the supermarket today
We were in a rush, had walked all the way back to car, I was struggling with three large bags, putting them in the boot.
Dd was moaning and difficult most of the day, she said she was desperate for the toilet. I said to just wait a moment as I had to put the bags in etc and we’d go back. She started getting upset saying she was really desperate and about to wee and could she wee by our car quickly. I let her.
As I was fastening her car seat, an older woman walked past and shouted’There are loos inside you know!’ in not a very nice way. I shouted back ‘Excuse me?’ She said she was just saying there were loos inside that can be used (again, it wasn’t said in a nice way’ I said to her ‘She’s 6 years and was desperate and couldn’t hold it in, she’s 6!’ She pulled a face and got in her car.
Dd was upset and asked if she’d done something wrong and felt scared of the mean lady.

It really pissed me off, was I out of order??

You are teaching your child to do sth that most people consider disgusting and not normal. At some point you will have to teach her it’s not acceptable or she’ll still be doing it at 16. So confusing for her.

TheLemonLemur · 05/09/2025 23:51

Honestly? Your 6 yo was having a tantrum you couldn't be bothered walking back into supermarket so you said just wee there. Then you shouted at a passer by who rightly commented especially when there is toilets close by - even if you were the furtherst away parking space with 3 heavy bags it could only be a couple of mins walk. So no the lady was not mean you tried to spin the story to suit you no one was around etc well clearly this woman was and could see everything

6 isn't a small child.
Portapotties exist.
There were toilets in the supermarket.

She said she couldn't wait?

GleisZwei · 05/09/2025 23:41

You not finding it disgusting doesn't negate that actual truth that urinating in a public car park is not only disgusting, but also normalising something that really isn't normal at all. The poor child.

I’ve worked in primary schools in the past and it would highly unprofessional if we called children who had accidents on the class room floor disgusting! It happens quite regularly!

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 05/09/2025 23:52

I’d have made the same comment as the woman passing by

Ugh, that is just plain nasty. Did you at least water down the pavement afterwards or just leave it?

I take it that you don't actually tell them to crouch down and pee though, unlike OP seems to regularly do.

There is no alternative if the child can't wait, besides wetting herself.

But if a mum taught her child that rather than walk down the corridor to the loo it’s ok to go and squat in the corner of the room and take a pee, would that be ok? This child didn’t wet herself which I think is what you are referring to.

I can't see that anywhere? Have you just made that up?

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 05/09/2025 23:59

6 is really old for an al fresco wee in a town. I would expect that of a 3-4 year old at the absolute most.

If she does have some kind of medical reason for going from 0 to 100 in no time then she can hardly help it, but if you know this happens to her (and it sounds like you do from your comments), you should be encouraging her to proactively manage it by going when she gets the chance.

Dogs pee literally everywhere. And their owners are usually standing by smiling as if waiting for me to compliment the flipping dog. I think it's fine OP, sounds like she was stuck and it was just a once off

Dogs also sniff your arse, poo outside and lick their own balls. Should we allow kids to do that too?

If a child is incontinent at 6 years old, there are plenty of alternatives.

…who you calling a tube, yah pipe head 😂
you came on this thread to tell people to fuck off because we didn’t agree with a kid pissing in a carpark…all because your kid went “though it”

The moral of the story here is…nobody ever needs to piss in the street. It’s grim.
and don’t ever assume that you or your family are the only ones that have had issues with bladder control or weakness.

i can confirm that I won’t be boiling my head tonight. 🙌🏻

Several posters have pointed out that the child probably wouldn't ask to do this if it hadn't happened before - somewhere along the line it's been normalised. HTH

This bit didn't happen did it. I too think 6 is too old but i wouldn't have said anything to you.

I think you should have said yes you did do something wrong you pissed in the car park and not the toilet but l that was my fault for not making you go back. I'm sorry you were scared of the lady but she wasn't being mean she was just pointing out that there were toilets that we should have used. A child of school age should be able to either hold it in or alert you in advance that she needs to go before she's desperate.

The child asked if she could do that. A 6 year old doesn’t ask that unless they’ve been told to do it before.

Sadly this happened to a girl at my school! She weed herself in her seat. Sometimes you just can't hold it in!

I was 7. I told my teacher I needed the toilet, she made me wait as it was nearly going home time Chairs up on desks. She was talking to the class & I could feel it running down legs & into my shoes. Sometimes children cannot wait any longer. It's not a moral failing!!

@Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist

don't give it another thought, she's only 6 not 16, it's a bit of wee.

MyLittleNest · 06/09/2025 00:03

You said "Excuse me?" after the woman pointed out there were loos inside...You clearly heard, so were you just playing innocent/dumb?

You sound insufferable, sorry. Your child is 6, not 2, and as a mother myself, this is 100% unacceptable. I'd have reacted the same way as this "mean" woman!

It goes without saying, yet you might need to hear it all the same, that your daughter is old enough to remember this and she will.

I once returned to my car to find a woman letting her son (probably around 4) pissing next to the passenger side of my car, splattering his phish all over my fucking car. I was disgusted. The toilets were 2 minutes away. (ETA it was a covered basement carpark and the piss stain stayed there on the tarmac for about 2 sodding years after that, fucking disgusting).

YABU that was disgusting.
