Woman shouted because Dd wee’d in the car park

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 21:56

Dd, 6 and I were at the supermarket today
We were in a rush, had walked all the way back to car, I was struggling with three large bags, putting them in the boot.
Dd was moaning and difficult most of the day, she said she was desperate for the toilet. I said to just wait a moment as I had to put the bags in etc and we’d go back. She started getting upset saying she was really desperate and about to wee and could she wee by our car quickly. I let her.
As I was fastening her car seat, an older woman walked past and shouted’There are loos inside you know!’ in not a very nice way. I shouted back ‘Excuse me?’ She said she was just saying there were loos inside that can be used (again, it wasn’t said in a nice way’ I said to her ‘She’s 6 years and was desperate and couldn’t hold it in, she’s 6!’ She pulled a face and got in her car.
Dd was upset and asked if she’d done something wrong and felt scared of the mean lady.

It really pissed me off, was I out of order??

Revolting.
Also I hate that this has to be a consideration in today’s society but if that lady could see then so could any predators around who could’ve taken a photograph. Besides, urinating in public is an arrest-able offence and as her parent, that would’ve been you.

Absolutely talking complete and utter shite hen. Parents don't get arrested on behalf of their child who is under the age of criminal responsibility.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 05/09/2025 22:56

Presumably there was no toilet nearby though? Not the same as walking past a toilet and then peeing in the car park less than a minute later

Well no but i'm guessing op didn't think they could make it back to the toilets?

I'd be really concerned about my child being exposed in public and would try cover them up in any way I could though. That's why I'm torn, I don't really think urine on the floor of a car park is a major concern like other posters.

InMyShowgirlEra · 05/09/2025 23:36

So you were stood right outside the supermarket and let her wee on the floor? Sorry but that's not appropriate at all for a 6 yo. Maybe a very newly potty trained 2 yo. Surely at 6 she's capable of walking back to the supermarket on her own?

GleisZwei · 05/09/2025 23:38

Ponoka7 · 05/09/2025 23:34

You've pissed in a supermarket car park, on camera?

Someone did do that in a car park near us - one of those holidaying in a van (not a motorhome, just a white van with a mattress in the back) types. Small supermarket car park, clearly visible to passers by. Revolting. Public toilets less than 2 min away and 2 other options a bit further away.

Forgottenidentity · 05/09/2025 23:38

Oh for goodness sake - it’s really not disgusting. I would have not been offended by this. Please stop worrying about it.

latetothefisting · 05/09/2025 23:39

How long does it take you to stick 3 bags, large or not, in the boot? I don't understand how that's a time consuming "struggle" that can take enough time for dd to pester about if she could pee, you answer, her squat down and take her clothes down and the lady to see her and you have the conversation!

Also agree that if aged 6 your dd can't hold her wee for the time it takes to cross a car park back to the shop she needs to see a doctor. How does she manage in school? It must take longer than that to stop what shes doing, go up to the teacher, wait until he/she's available, ask her/him and get to the nearest loo.

You not finding it disgusting doesn't negate that actual truth that urinating in a public car park is not only disgusting, but also normalising something that really isn't normal at all. The poor child.

HuckleberryBlackcurrant · 05/09/2025 23:41

All these people saying she needs a Dr.....no, she was just being difficult for her mum and held it so long she literally couldn't wait

Now don't talk sense, that's not okay on here let people be aghast, disgusted and horrified. Give them their moment 😂

But it’s a regular occurrence according to OP? In which case it’s a problem which needs investigating by a GP.

Mistyglade · 05/09/2025 23:43

It’s not that bad, some pp’s have to be taking the mick. The nosy old bag had no right to bawl at you and traumatise the kid even more. Of course it’s a bit disgusting but it’s life.

Secondchoice2 · 05/09/2025 23:44

Ignore the prudes. Sometimes small children cannot hold their wee. It is not the end of the world.

Ruby1985 · 05/09/2025 23:44

That’s disgusting! She is in year 1 I presume. I’m sure she doesn’t pull her knickers down in class and do the same and does hold it in!

6 isn't a small child.
Portapotties exist.
There were toilets in the supermarket.

Hetoldherthatmagicdoesntexist · 05/09/2025 22:02

Small children is a completely different thing surely?!

A six year old isn't a small child. Unless there are medical reasons she couldn't have gone from not needing the toilet at checkout to being incontinent within the 2 minutes it takes to walk to the car.

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 05/09/2025 21:58

That's disgusting.

Yes the lady in the car park was disgusting, you’re right.

Petitchat · 05/09/2025 23:46

GleisZwei · 05/09/2025 23:34

Nobody has suggested that. HTH.

Many posters are saying she shouldn't have done it. The little girl said she couldn't wait so the only other alternative was to wet herself.

HTH

Confusdworriedmum · 05/09/2025 23:47

You do know that regardless of the OPs DD the car park is probably covered in piss from rats, foxes, cats etc. So it doesn't really matter that much.
I don't think I'd notice, and I certainly wouldn't care if I saw a child having a wee in public.

GleisZwei · 05/09/2025 23:47

The lady in the car park was disgusted at OPs disgusting behaviour. HTH.

Is 6 a big child, certainely not big compared to a 13 or 15 year old child is it?

No, there were other alternatives, some which involve slightly more proactive parenting.

6 is too old to be peeing in public when there are toilets nearby.
