To think Farage surely has to go

So Farage has some dodgy private company set up to avoid paying tax. Is he being pressured to resign as head of Reform? Of course not. Because he’s an entitled privileged man.

The double standards are incredible really. Here’s the story https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/sep/05/nigel-farage-uses-private-company-to-pay-less-tax-on-gb-news-earnings

While I think Rayner had to resign, why are the same standards not being applied?

Nigel Farage uses private company to pay less tax on GB News earnings

Exclusive: Reform leader’s use of personal services firm is a practice criticised across the political spectrum

It would be interesting to have a survey of the percentage of Reform voters who pursued higher education, versus the percentage of degrees attained by demographics voting for any other party.

Why?

It’s not really free, some of us pay for it through our taxes.

Yep, and our post code/catchment area.

Well yes, 😂 I think I qualify for tax paying but I mean the luxury education as you well know.

A first and masters degree holder here. Please don't embarrass yourself by pursuing a lazy hypothesis.

Hopefully not in statistics.

Yes, that went down well. Connolly is coming out of this nicely. Double whammy that her incarceration backfired on Starmer. When will they ever learn.

she’s coming out very nicely- has come out like a martyr! Not a nice person at all

she’s even been invited to the US to talk about free speech. I would be happy if she wanted to stay there. Honestly, I do think that people have legitimate concerns about immigration and about the lack of homes for normal
people - but there is no need to hang your hat on a bunch of racists to sort things out. They won’t.

Luxury education = any non state controlled and allocated education between the ages of 4 and 18. What an inspiring world view

BIossomtoes · 08/09/2025 16:31

I wonder how that works with the conditions of her licence? And how being a criminal out on licence works with the US visa requirements? So many questions.

"state controlled"?? Is that a paradoy and you are actually writing for Private Eye!

Unfortunately not.

First tax people put of the private schools, now tighten up the rules on home schooling and revamp the curriculum.

Make sure the state can get its hands on as many children as possible for indoctrination.

No doubt she would be happy to stay there. I'm sure she would be happy being governed, by a man, with guts. * *

If teachers were able to indoctrinate children they’d start by indoctrinating them to bring a pen and be polite. Leaving aside that they don’t even want to…

EmpressoftheMundane · 08/09/2025 18:34

Nice quip. There is definitely some truth to the fact that schools transfer values to the children who spend half their waking hours in them. And it isn’t always values parents agree with.

Who do children belong to? Their parents? Of the state?

They’ll be letting children vote next

Modifying access to human rights isn't such a bad thing. More often, than not, its use is manipulated by extremely dangerous individuals.

Thanks for demonstrating so clearly in your post that many things are too important to be left to the whims of passing political fancy. Especially human rights guarantees.

Children aren't belongings are they?

Precisely. They are part of families. They are not resources of the state.

Truth.

When I was still teaching I’d have just liked them to underline the date and title without 52572828281 reminders. Didn’t have time for indoctrination in amongst all the requests to go to the toilet.

No, not statistics. I'm not a boring bastard.

yellowspanner · 08/09/2025 20:05

I hope Nigel Farage does become PM and place navel vessels in the channel to turn the boats back. If it's an act of war against France what do you think they'll do? They might shout at us but it would stop the illegal
Immigrants

yellowspanner · 08/09/2025 20:07

I have a degree and a masters and I will vote reform

Anyone would think we were fighting the fascists, in justifying our vote and our intellectual capacity 😉
