I could explain but I think all you wise ladies of mumsnet know what I mean !!

I will say when I worked in a pub I had to break up so many fights involving or between yummy mummy Prosecco ladies. They’re either the best customers or the worst. Football men are the worst, followed by “just turned 18”, then Prosecco Jens. I was almost glassed by one.

VoltaireMittyDream · 31/08/2025 01:06

Please let Prosecco Jens be a Nordic man who feels Italian in his soul

I like the sound of this guy. Does he wear glasses and have poetry in his soul?

Oh I read the op as prosecco jeans, was curious as to what style of jeans that might be. Silly me

that's so weird-I did too!!!

I was picturing patchwork 😂

Comedycook · 31/08/2025 08:26

Such an overrated drink imo anyway.

I agree, Cava is better. Both bad for middle aged digestion though. That's OK. I'll just have a coffee while Jens is drinking his prosecco.

sundayfundayclub · 31/08/2025 08:30

Do you mean alcoholics?

FarFarAwayTrain · 31/08/2025 08:31

Stardust286 · 31/08/2025 07:52

Do you mean Prosecco Gen's? As in the generation who like prosecco?

Yes could be .. if you want to put that interpretation on it

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 31/08/2025 08:38

Do you call men who drink Larger, Larger Lens?
Or shall we start slagging off Gary Guinness. Or Barry Bitter.
Oh no, just women.

Swiftie1878 · 31/08/2025 08:39

FarFarAwayTrain · 31/08/2025 01:06

I dunno .. tbh I thought you’d use your own discretion to interpret

like I said upthread - someone who posts wine o clock etc on a Friday afternoon on Facebook ?

And you are asking if people like them?

I’m very confused.

Why do we have to give everything names now ‘karen’ ‘Jen’ etc. it’s boring. And weird. And no I don’t know what a Prosecco jen is and I drink Prosecco fairly often.

FarFarAwayTrain · 31/08/2025 08:46

I prefer cocktails myself. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!

It certainly is hun! 🍾🍺🍻🥂🍷🥃🧋

Very snobby post and yes you missed the mark if this was meant to be lighthearted. It is a shorthand way of saying ‘that was a long week’ or ‘glad it is the weekend, as it has been a shitshow the last few days’.

Are you usually wound up this tight?

The majority of threads of here slag off men, its not a competition. There are typical male behaviours and presentations that are laughable, stupid and ripe for comedy and micky taking.

There are typical female behaviours and presentations that are laughable, stupid and ripe for comedy and micky taking.

People often have some characteristic that people feel free to criticise or laugh at, sometimes that is sex based, other times not. Feel free to see the vast majority of threads about reform voters or older people (boomers), house owners, landlords, teachers, people with ND, people without ND, the list is endless

Its a human trait to observe and comment on other people's behaviours, characteristics and presentations.

CancelTheTableAlan · 31/08/2025 08:49

They're not 'so called'. Jen is a name you just coined for them. You should say, like Miranda's mother 'what I called Prosecco Jens'. You are the anti-Miranda! because the joke in Miranda is that when someone says 'what I call', they mean what everyone calls it.

Timeforabitofpeace · 31/08/2025 08:49

Oh I dunno. Seems a bit of a bitchy comment to me. And I don’t even like Prosecco.

Jaggy1 · 31/08/2025 08:50

I don’t know, never heard of it.
We would say people are ‘tea jennys’ in Scotland if they love & drink a lot of tea, wonder if you’re trying to make something like that happen here 🤣

Ebsalami · 31/08/2025 08:52

Comedycook · 31/08/2025 08:03

Its not sexism...it's social commentary and taking the mick out of crap that we see on social media

Does it happen to men?

But there are not, as far as I’m aware, name-specific derogatory terms for men.

Anyone called Karen has had their name spoiled for them. Let’s not do it to another female name.

soupyspoon · 31/08/2025 08:55

Ebsalami · 31/08/2025 08:52

Is that a joke, have you been living in a box or something?

ItsNotYou852 · 31/08/2025 08:55

You can't use "so called" when you've just made the term up!

Homegrownberries · 31/08/2025 08:55

FarFarAwayTrain · 31/08/2025 00:36

I suppose these women who post about

Wine o’clock on FB etc

Is that even still at thing? It's so 5 years ago.

Comedycook · 31/08/2025 08:56

Ebsalami · 31/08/2025 08:52

Does it happen to men?

Yes I think so. But regardless...if I think one specific type of online commentary/behaviour is particularly cringe worthy, that isn't necessarily sexist. Or can we never criticise or pass comment on anything a woman ever does in case it's seen as sexist?
