House viewings - neighbour refuses to take down flag - Update

KayleighhMum · 27/08/2025 16:36

Hi all, as a follow up to the previously full thread.

DH spoke to our neighbour again this morning and explained the feedback we received from the first viewings yesterday and that the couple who liked it were put off bidding by the flag.

Our neighbour seemed to understand and said he’d be taking the flag down anyway as the weather is turning.

However, I’ve got home from work to find the flag is still up and he’s also erected a ‘Vote Reform’ banner with Nigel Farage doing a thumbs up pose. So he is clearly taking the piss at this point.

Our estate agent even said to us about having a word so I’ve no idea where we go from here.

OP posts:

Oh dear...........I can't see this ending well at all.

I suggest you ask for both threads to be removed OP.

The OP has been attention seeking on mumsnet (honestly…. Starting a second “update” thread 🙄). It’s backfired!!

WalkDontWalk · 27/08/2025 19:02

Tracklement · 27/08/2025 18:35

But are they “looking in to it” ? No

and you rock up to the council and say “wanna buy my house off me?” Seriously.

and in his shoes, he’d simply google to see whether this “plan” the OP supposedly heard about from a friend was something that existed and see very quickly… the op was talking out of her ass

bluffing is not the way forward unless you are prepared to make a complete tit of yourself

Edited

Our council has exactly this plan. Just got a letter from them about it.

You can't even mock someones lack of teeth these days.

It's political correctness gone mad, I tell you

Personally my view is that only people with a full range of Miele appliances, access to a top private dentist and an IQ of over 132 should be able to vote.

Some people call this eugenics but that's just political correctness gone mad!

Yes !
Yes !!
Yes !!!

And the sooner Nigel is PM and sweeps away all this woke bollocks the better.

VOTE REFORM !!!!

Wow, you really are hilarious 🥴

InsectsMatter · 27/08/2025 19:14

Beerpink · 27/08/2025 17:30

Say it will be turned into a HMO For asylum seekers. Play him at his own game. Get him frothing with venom so much that he might give himself a stroke. Just as the rightwingers posters have said. You have agency over your own property!

No need to be so nasty

Serpentstooth · 27/08/2025 19:16

Oh yes, there is.

InsectsMatter · 27/08/2025 19:19

KayleighhMum · 27/08/2025 16:51

Brilliant - just sent this to DH!

I imagine your long-suffering neighbour will be relieved to be shot of you.

Interestingly 58% of posters think you are being unreasonable.

dizzydizzydizzy · 27/08/2025 19:21

Unless you have local elections, Report the Vote Reform sign to your local council. You are not normally allowed adverting on residential property. Obviously this is not the case if there is an election coming up.

Is age relevant?

We moved and haven’t sold the previous house yet.

The letter says, “We have loads of people to house. Wanna flog us your empty house?’

Sure it does
sure you received a letter from the council saying they wanted to buy properties
sure 😆

As an added incentive, if it’s empty too long, they up the council tax.

They do, although they tend to be Ex
council houses and normally in streets where they already have purchased a few back.

Our council have done a few but again it’s only if say empty and once belonged to them. Tends to hit with a low ball offer while also a threat of hiked up council tax for owning a second home. If you really piss them off by having it empty for years they start talking compulsory purchases.

Tracklement · 27/08/2025 20:02

Only if vacant for more than a year can they do this

IAmTheLogLady · 27/08/2025 17:24

Is his house attached to yours? I'd wind him up back tell him you've sold the house to developers who are turning it into an HMO.

Clearly you all think anyone is patriotic lives up to your stereotypes of being thick because he could see through that straight away by searching the councils planning applications.

SanityLeftTheChat · 27/08/2025 20:12

Elle771 · 27/08/2025 17:45

Maybe this is the answer... long term all the racists can/will only be able to buy/rent together and the non racists can/will only buy/rent together and then they can all live in their own little olde England bubble where everything is fine and Dandy (haha!) And leave the rest of us to it without having bloody farage shoved down our throats all the time

Does that mean we can send all the HMO's to your areas and let them harass you and your children? I'm all in favour if that's the case!

HelpHedgehogsByFeedingThemCatBiscuits · 27/08/2025 18:07

Let's all make fun of working class people without teeth who can't spell!

It's hilarious darling! These people don't even have Miele appliances!

When the bien pensant are in meltdown when a populist government is elected in 2029 historians should be pointed to this thread to understand why it might have happened. The REVELS (Rich Enough to even Vote Liebour) will be in meltdown and packing their bags for Dubai PDQ!

Even if that does happen, it won't last forever. They will fuck things up even more and the pendulum will swing back in the other direction, as always

Sure

but when you have an Op starting a second “update” thread… it smacks of “keep giving meeeeeer attention”

well, this Op got it and now it looks like it might just backfire given it’s made the papers!

Yep this. As I said further back in the thread, I can't believe the OP started a second thread about this subject. You're right, at this point it is 100% attention-seeking.

Also, the press and media have got hold of the story now!! OMG! 😱

Well.....the OP has got the attention she wanted now!

If the Fail haven’t got it by now, they probably will at some point. That’ll be a straight to the comments article.
