Would you take this job with a 3 year old?! I’m torn!

I have been a stay at home mum since dd. We are ok financially as a family but I have been offered a job of 70k, remote apart from 2 days a month in the office.

I can basically work when I want, assuming I meet client need.

Having not worked since DD was born I am a bit worried about how I will adapt. I feel like at the moment when I drop her at nursery at 9am, by the time I collect her at 4, I have only just had chance to clean and tidy and prep dinner!!

We could do with the extra money just to pay off the mortgage earlier and this would make a massive massive difference. I am so conflicted and worry I might regret it if I start!

I'll starting to wonder at this thread. 💩Incompetent woman who has dd in permanent childcare, doesn't need the money, hasn't worked fir years, can't clean and get an evening meal prepared, gets offered dream job. Hmmmm .....

100% this. ^

So @Amivei did you take on the wonderful opportunity or did you prefer to spend your day cleaning your home whilst 3 year old is in nursery anyway. Do you/the job even exist or were you a bit bored and wanted to start a thread? Since 11 pages and no courtesy to actually reply to the responses you wanted.

Doone22 · 28/08/2025 21:08

Take it or you'll die of boredom

Easterchicken · 29/08/2025 21:32

If you don't want it please send the details to me

You must be the bomb at whatever it is you do if someone has headhunted you after 3-4 years off work to offer you a £70k job to work from home. It sounds too good to be true! The fact you have 24hrs a week to cook and clean and you don’t have to work sounds ideal too. I wouldn’t want to give that up either lol

CathyFitzs · 30/08/2025 09:50

Well said! I thought it must be a joke too! Poor OP , thank goodness I won’t have to listen to her ‘poor me’ whining if she does go back to work .

PaddlingSwan · 30/08/2025 09:52

Do it and use some of the extra cash to pay for a cleaner/housekeeper.

Mememe9898 · 30/08/2025 10:54

What type of work do you do?
It depends what you are doing the work for and if you are going to do it well whilst managing everything else.
Ive always worked and have 2 young kids which was far more challenging than have 1 x 3 year old as they kept getting sick all the time and I was working solidly in a start up with insane hours. It did mean that some things slipped like surviving on convenience food, not seeing the kids as much as I’d like but I made it work.
Having a remote job is ideal as you’ll find that you’ll have lots of flexibility and the money sounds great too. I was less than that when I did my remote job initially with 2 young kids and it was the only way I could realistically work as I had the sleepless nights still to deal with and the long hours.
It seems like you don’t want to work if you questioning this so maybe it’s not a good idea taking the job and then someone who really wants it can take the job instead.

@LadyDanburysHat thank you for replying to my post. I am worried I won’t have the time to do proper meals or keep on top of running the house. Part of me is desperate to take it and the other part of me thinks it’s a mistake. I only have until Friday to decide.

Did you take the job @Amivei 😉😉

That’s great to hear. Remember that it will take a little while to settle in so don’t judge the job from the first few days. Also if you can “front-load” a few onsite days you’ll probably settle in more quickly.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
