It's from MarksandSparks, to be split in two and shared with a sardine salad. Will add pic with a screenshot of ingredients.

SIL shook her head at it when shopping with me and said it was franken-food. I don't think it's so bad at all, if your'e not jumpy about seed oil. It's lovely with healthy toppings of your own added to it.
Not as good as homemade, but once a week isn't going to murder anyone surely?? Grin

How far do we take this UPF thing?

Id eat a side salad with a curry if there wasnt enough vegetables served with the curry

Im one of those saddoes that eats half a plate of veg at every meal and salad/raw veg is my go too

Did a BBQ yesterday, along with the chicken, turkey and sardines, I served a crunchy salad, grilled mushrooms, peppers, asparagus, corn and aubergine - I ate very little meat - enough to fill me not enough to feel stuffed

Certainly none of the salads I make have lettuce as an ingredient.

All my salads go perfectly with half a pizza

Some were listing off the types of lettuce leaves they have, ok so your salad doesn't consist of lettuce, it's then just a bowl of vegetables 😂 delicious, tbh I rather the veggies on the pizza ....

I don’t tend to shovel any of my food. You’ve used that descriptor twice now. Maybe your issue is to do with how you eat, nit how anyone else does. Are you ‘shovelling’ it in without enjoying the tastes and textures?

I darnt show you my fry - contained air fried peppers and asparagus along with the beans , tomatoes and mushrooms on the same plate as the fried eggs, sausages and bacon and wedges

There are no rules about what veg you eat with what food , you eat the veg you enjoy and you eat loads of it

Oh they are perfect plate mates. I like to pile salad & coleslaw on top of my pizza.

I love a salad with pizza or pasta! It goes very well together, no shovelling required.

A pizza without salad wouldn't seem complete to me. My plate is usually one third or less pizza, and the rest salad. I love salads!

Avocado oil is very much not a seed oil.

But yes, sesame is. I use cold pressed and only use it when I want the flavour of sesame. For everything else it’s olive, avocado, or on the very odd occasion butter.

If that pizza is the one I think it is, it's tiny for two adults! My toddler eats half of one at a time and would probably finish it off if I let him!

The person you are quoting didn't mention any lettuce!!!

The only person who thinks "salad" = "cold lettuce leaves" is you!

I'll have nice tomato, red onion, and cucumber "salad" with a pizza or curry any time.

There are other possible salad ingredients too, some of which can even be served warm!

As I explained up thread seed oils become an ultra-processed food when they are in the category of refined, bleached and deodorised. This is the same for any oils, for example refined olive oils and olive oil blends. Some seeds yield oil through cold press extraction, these are not RBD oils and therefore not ultra-processed.

Bear in mind that a lot of natural products, including ones your own body produces, have an E number. I found this gem today on line...

Some E-numbers are even produced by the human body itself. More specifically our body produces 20 E-numbers itself for its daily function. A lot of other ones, 96 to be exact, derive from natural sources.
These are some commonly used, also naturally sourced E-numbers:

  • E300: ascorbic acid, generally speaking vitamin C, used to preserve products for longer. It naturally occurs in a lot of vegetables and fruits, for example oranges, bell peppers, tomatoes, cabbages, onions and many more.
  • E306: Tocopherol-rich extract, mostly known as vitamin E, used to prevent oxidation of a various fats & oils. It naturally occurs in vegetables and cereals like soybean, corn, wheat, cottonseed, sunflower, rapeseed.
  • E101: Riboflavin or vitamin B2, used as a food colour. It naturally occurs in your liver, in yeast, milk, broccoli, asparagus and spinach.
  • E322: Lecithin, emulsifier used as a vital ingredient in spreads and chocolates. This additive naturally occurs in egg yolk.
  • E410: Locust bean gum. It’s used as a stabilizer in ice creams and salad products. It occurs naturally in the carob tree.
  • E948: simply stands for oxygen.
They look a lot scarier in their E-form, don’t you think?

Just because something is derived from a natural source does not mean it is healthy. There are toxins in nature such as mushrooms - we wouldn't use these toxins in food. Yes some of them are found in edible sources such as lecithin and gums but it is the ultra processing of these substances that MAY make them unhealthy.

Oh I agree. I was just countering the idea that if it's an E number it must be a manufactured additive and bad for you.
