To think this is a healthy pizza!?

It's from MarksandSparks, to be split in two and shared with a sardine salad. Will add pic with a screenshot of ingredients.

SIL shook her head at it when shopping with me and said it was franken-food. I don't think it's so bad at all, if your'e not jumpy about seed oil. It's lovely with healthy toppings of your own added to it.
Not as good as homemade, but once a week isn't going to murder anyone surely?? Grin

How far do we take this UPF thing?

There are no additives or preservatives in this pizza. This pizza is pretty much as you would make one at home. Pizza s not inherently unhealthy if made with plain fresh ingredients, which this pretty much is. The list is long because they have to list out all the sub ingredients of the basic ingredients.

In that case it's fine?! They sometimes add stuff to the flour to extend shelf life. So I thought that might be what was happening here. But if not then cool.

Dough: flour, salt, yeast, water

Sauce: tomato

Cheese: milk

Except cheese contains more than milk. For mozzarella cheese you need rennet and a starter culture, in fact you need rennet for almost all cheeses. Only cheese I know of that doesn't need it, does need white vinegar.

And of course I know you CAN make the dough without anything added like a drizzle of oil, it can really improve the flavour. Same with the tomato sauce - do you really only use blended tomatoes and no herbs?

Sounds incredibly boring to me, literally just plain dough & tomatoes on top. Why not just have that & a glass of milk for the nutrition, if you've taken a lot of the flavour out?

Not only is your SIL batshit, but easily half the commenters on this thread are too!

I can’t see anything UPF in that list of ingredients at all, it’s fine.

Saying that nobody should be allowed to eat rapeseed oil because some people have a bad reaction to it is just mad. I’m allergic to alliums but I bet people here would get very annoyed if I suggested onion and garlic should be banned as a result!

TheBreezeTheBreeze · 25/08/2025 12:24

Maybe they should put some cocaine in that flour, might lighten us all up a bit :)

My food allergies are tomatoes (!) and artificial sweeteners, really can't see either of those being banned either lol.

I'm known to use a bit of lard when cooking...

MummytoE · 25/08/2025 12:33

Come to Scotland and try a pizza crunch. Super healthy!

Agapornis · 25/08/2025 12:34

Whenever anyone comments on my food choices I respond 'great! more for me 🤷'

Bet she never eats chocolate.

I hope that's fried in EVOO, if so it's healthy!

On the cooked chicken thread, people were cooking chicken with nothing. No salt, no pepper even let alone herbs
I couldn’t imagine

Do you have a link, please?

doodleschnoodle · 25/08/2025 12:45

Is it a MN chicken though? Feeds the 5,000?

No that was just jesus and his microplastic sardines.

Jesus. I just had a hungover fry up, ladies here would have a fainting fit (and probably tell me I’m an alcoholic for getting drunk at a wedding too).

I’m size 6 and at my last yearly health check up the doctor said my bloods are “perfect”. Like you I am generally good and am into my exercise but I’d definitely have the odd treat and will merrily stock up on pastries and other tapas style bits from M&S if I can’t be bothered to cook. Don’t even check the ingredients. Other times I’ll have good stints of making everything from scratch. I don’t think worrying about every single ingredient, or policing others eating, is a worthwhile pursuit.

TheBreezeTheBreeze · 25/08/2025 12:48

So what's going on with FERMENTED WHEAT FLOUR?
Any more info on that, that doesn't lead to a youtube doctor selling a book?

I'm always a bit 🤔 when people have salad with a pizza. What do you do shovel in a load of salad then a bite of your pizza, or eat your salad then your pizza, lettuce and pizza just don't go.

I'm always a bit 🤔 that people don't want to eat a load of veg with their hot bread and cheese 😂

I usually eat the salad alongside it yes, love pizza but it gets a bit boring after a few slices.

TheBreezeTheBreeze · 25/08/2025 12:53

well shit, life just keeps on giving at this point!

I love salad and half a pizza! If I didn't have salad then id eat more pizza.

Works for me!

breathing.

I am in London. Breathing is definitively NOT healthy with the level of pollution in here.

Doomed, I am doomed I tell you.

dodobedo · 25/08/2025 12:59

It sounds lovely as does a sardine salad which i've never heard of until now! What recipe do you use for that I might try it!
