AIBU to ask about this whole ‘painting flags on roundabouts’ thing?

England flags have appeared all over my nice town, painted on to the mini roundabouts. What kind of a ‘thing’ is this? Is it a Reform thing, a football thing or a ‘proud to be English’ thing?
If it’s a reform thing, WIBU to go down and add “England welcomes you to our country” to all the red crosses?

It’s a shame most of them don’t know what the St George’s flag looks like though, I’ve seen various versions painted on roundabouts, the Swiss version, the Danish version, the fuck knows what version…. Perhaps it’s actually a warning that the Vikings are coming again? 🤔

Well I've just seen a Facebook video that shows a couple of "patriots" painting red crosses above a parade of shops that included an Indian takeaway. They were explaining to a small child that they were doing it for "their future" and they openly mocked / abused a woman in her national dress who passed by, and said something uncomplimentary which was possibly directed at a different child.

I've also seen reports of other racial abuse in my town and the atmosphere is febrile to say the least.

Things are getting a bit out of hand I think.

If you ask, or it is discussed on the local fb page, no one can seem to decide what it’s for or what it represents. Something about taking our country back - with Britain and England used interchangeably - and laughing about offending woke liberal lefties. It’s all a bit silly and strange until an actual immigrant replies saying they hope it’s not meant to make them feel unwelcome and get told to “f*ck off back where you came from”.

No flags in my town as of yet but someone has spray painted Islamic writing everywhere. It’s literally all over the bridges, walkways and buildings along with spray painted Palestine flags, and swasticas. Frightening times are to come

You're doing a hell of a lot of mileage if you're seeing so many painted roundabouts that you're seeing loads of them mistakenly painted with the Swiss and Danish flags. I don't think I believe you.
