Husband has extreme right wing views

Not sure if this is the right place to post as it's not an AIBU but more of I think my husband is being and I'm not sure what to do about it.

He's getting caught up in some quite extreme right wing views in regards to migrants. Complains about how they're coming in, being housed in hotels, paid allowances etc. with no checks and how crime rates such as rape are now ten fold etc. He thinks Trump is great 😪 He's very intelligent so I'm not sure how he's managed to get caught up in this extremist view point.

I suggest you read up on the Rotherham and other Pakistani grooming gangs scandals and get back to us on that.

Facts are facts and the localised grooming gang scandals don’t negate the nationwide data…

That may well be the case but the facts remain that the overwhelming majority of child sexual abuse in the UK is committed by White men, usually within families too.

My point is that most cases of sexual abuse happen in the home / someone know to the victim.

Because of the stigma associated with this with the Asian community, there are 10000 of cases where crimes go unreported and Asian men aren't arrested, and aren't reflected in these statistics.

hippysun · 25/08/2025 00:03

Re rape are there any stats out there that show country of origin per number of population

im pretty sure those numbers exist no?

Somerford · 24/08/2025 23:50

You know nothing of the people "rioting" (see also; peacefully protesting). The statistic you're referencing is people arrested. People behaving in such ways to get themselves arrested aren't representative of the overwhelming majority of protesters who were not arrested. You're either mistaken or you're lying, I suppose it doesn't really matter which is true.

I was referring to the people who were rioting. Rioting is a criminal offence and I would absolutely expect people to be arrested for it. It's rather concerning that you don't seem to know the difference between rioting and peaceful protest?

Are you suggesting that there were lots of people actually rioting who didn't get arrested?

This is the case sadly for many children, irrespective of race.

Moonlightdust · 25/08/2025 00:05

Regardless of being right wing or not, it is indeed a fact that migrants are being put up in hotels all over the UK, receiving allowances and in some areas, the crime rates have increased. Stating a fact is one thing.. Liking Trump is another matter 🤣

Somerford · 25/08/2025 00:05

MumWifeOther · 24/08/2025 23:59

As I said, believe that if you want to engage in race wars as opposed to looking at the bigger picture and the real issues women and children in this country face from ALL types of men.

Ok, you don't understand how data and statistics work and you're now exhausted having tried to use data to prove your point, hoping that you wouldn't be challenged on your bullshit. You can bow out now.

He's entitled to have an option and express it. As are you. Make sure you are sharing and discussing openly with respect and tolerance for your different opinions in front of your children. What is often missing is healthy debate and difference. He's not the only person thinking like this the world is moving to the right because we have shut down any debate that seems to go against liberal views. It's not enough to leave him over. Educate your children on how to disagree with knowledge and respect for others. That's a healthy family life.

You cannot respectfully debate Trump supporters. Go watch Mehdi Hassan debate them on YouTube. You cannot debate racists and fascists who refuse to accept facts.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 25/08/2025 00:05

BundleBoogie · 24/08/2025 23:45

That claim is not accurate. They only know stats about those arrested - not the others present.

So you're saying that there were lots of others present who should have been arrested but weren't? Given that rioting is a criminal offence?

SouthLondonMum22 · 25/08/2025 00:06

BundleBoogie · 24/08/2025 23:59

What flag would you suggest be painted in a roundabout to signify dissatisfaction at the woeful charge rate for rape?

The concern is not ‘all about immigrants’, but can you not see the issues with bringing in men from countries where they are not used to women being treated as human beings?

People who want our borders back under control are not only concerned concerned about immigrants raping us though - there’s all sorts of problems with uncontrolled migration, like terrorism or our lack of infrastructure to support infinite population increases.

How many people complain about the current strain on the NHS, or the education system? Or roads? More people = more demand for housing, medical care etc.

How can someone have that concern yet claim to be a Trump supporter at the same time? It makes no sense.

Again, plenty of British men don't treat women like human beings. Women are raped largely by men they know and women are killed largely by men they know. Maybe British men should focus on issues closer to home first? Because even if all immigration ceased to exist from tomorrow, women in this country would be far from safe.

Bingbongsingalong · 25/08/2025 00:07

I feel like the fact that her husband said he supports Trump is being overlooked here and anyone who says they would leave their partner is being portrayed as a hysterical far left supporter. I appreciate that Trump isn't UK politics, but for me raising a son and a daughter, that would be a huge red flag on its own, regardless of anything else. I want my daughter to feel self worth and value, which means I could not live with someone who supports a mysoginistic sex offender. I want my son to respect women, which, isn't something that Trump is capable of and I couldn't live with someone who turned a blind eye to that.

I don't see this as a matter of a difference of opinion, it is an overwhelming difference of core values.

Horseshit. You were taking data of those arrested and trying to use it to smear the rest of the people protesting.

I don’t understand the data? Right, got it.

Data isn’t flawless, but it’s the closest thing we have to facts. Dismissing it because it’s inconvenient doesn’t make it wrong - it just makes your argument meaningless.

BundleBoogie · 25/08/2025 00:11

MumWifeOther · 24/08/2025 23:52

Yes I’m sure the police are covering up 85% of Asian sex offender crimes and it’ll level out and they’ll catch up with the 90% of white males currently topping the list 🤨

Edited

By your stats it only needs to be a proportion of the 5% as it is a much smaller population.

Those stats you posted are extremely
questionable as it lumps all ‘Asian’ men in together. Asia, as you may know, is a big continent. It has 49 member states and many ethnic groups within.

There are estimated 500,000 mainly white girls harmed by the grooming gang scandal which has been widely reported to be mainly perpetrated by men of Pakistani origin. If your ‘Asian’ perpetrators figure was broken down by country you would see one group of men vastly over represented in the numbers and it’s not the ‘white’ men.

I also find the categorisation of men by colour of their skin in your stats (are they from an official source?) deeply concerning and easily manipulated as a figure.

Badger17 · 25/08/2025 00:12

I don’t think I could live with anyone who had ever voted Labour. It would be a definite deal breaker for me. I prefer people with a bit more get up and go and detest the victim culture that pervades many on the left.

Taking personal responsibility is an attractive trait in a partner.

its quite normal to move from the left in your twenties/thirties when you have all these ideals over towards the right as you become the ones paying for it all with your taxes. It’s fairly standard.

Is it?
