For thinking that the migrant protests ...

Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

You are ignoring the discounts and sometimes even free passes they they get for swimming, gardening, yoga and other things like similar cards for phone credit. Also so many of them work for places like food delivery even though they should not be working.

I believe these things are useful for combatting the idleness people are protesting about. If they're swimming etc, they're unlikely to be hanging around outside the hotels, scaring local folks.

As for the black economy- that's something the government (again the problem)allows, to prop up the ailing economy.
I wouldn't want to be one of those delivery drivers. I watch them literally risking their lives to do enough trips to make it worthwhile. Not a life I'd wish on anyone.

TheLizardQueen · 23/08/2025 17:21

It was also outside the same hotel where the illegals raped a wee 14 year old local girl!! Can you imagine why people are unhappy?

Sorry didn’t see this one — but actually it was one asylum seeker who has been convicted and hasn’t resided at that hotel for almost two years now, what does it have to do with the rest of them staying there?

Hibernatingtilspring · 23/08/2025 18:34

@VaseofViolets if they have their own families who will be educated here, they've still saved us money by not requiring it themselves. And they've added the the birth rate which we need.
The idea that people need to be fully integrated and won't learn English is a myth. Look at how many immigrants built their own businesses here in the 60s and 70s when people wouldn't employ them. They are responsible for getting their own housing, so housing isn't a problem (the housing crisis isn't a result of over population, it's a crisis caused by an economic system that encourages rich people to use property as an investment opportunity - a huge % of London property is owned by off shore investors)
I've worked with many people claiming asylum, they are almost always keen to work and work damm hard once they're allowed the opportunity to do so. There will always be exceptions I know, but going through circumstances that they have tends to leave pretty damn motivated.

They’ve got a lot more than the average homeless person.

This really annoys me as a comparison.

P0rnstarmartini · 23/08/2025 18:35

If you have a hotel where it’s residents are sexually assaulting young girls then it’s absolutely the right place for a protest and if you don’t agree then you’re clearly part of the problem

Bambamhoohoo · 23/08/2025 18:35

Do deliverloo/ uber eats really allow people
with no right to work to deliver under their name? How would you get paid without a bank account?

Bringmeahigherlove · 23/08/2025 18:34

Me too. So simplistic. Also see: vets on the street (copied and pasted from maga)

it’s not as annoying as “I assume you’ll let them live in your spare room then” as if that’s some kind of flex.

tbf it probably is a flex for thick people.

Charley50 · 23/08/2025 18:37

Bambamhoohoo · 23/08/2025 18:14

🤔 that rather depends on my own cultural background I’d imagine?

Well you said you were born in the UK, so you’re British, even if your heritage is from elsewhere. One of my parents is from a different ‘cultural background’ AKA country, but I’m still British. I largely like the culture of the native people of this country, and the actual people. But people are individuals and we can’t like everyone I suppose. Can’t you get dual nationality?

rubicustellitall · 23/08/2025 18:37

Coolasfeck · 23/08/2025 13:20

It does amaze me that a huge portion of those outside hotels claim the asylum seekers are criminal leeches when they themselves are often jobless (hence having time to spend shouting outside), have restraining orders against them, don’t see their kids and are on various ‘registers’.

What a twatty comment. Middle class Gerald and Philomena and their children Conrad and Daisy and all their friends from the golf club will be outraged..oooops my bad they are the Antifa side aren't they? Suppose they will be ok then...

TheLizardQueen · 23/08/2025 18:39

ShesTheAlbatross · 23/08/2025 18:26

Yes, just like they protested outside the police station when it came out last month that police officers in Rotherham raped children as young as 11, and one described how she was forced to comply because they told her that if she didn’t get into their police car (where she was raped), they’d hand her back to the gangs. One of them spoke to a youth worker about being abused by the gangs, and they contacted the police, but the officer who also abused her turned up to interview her, tore her statement up, and nothing happened.

Oh wait. They didn’t protest that at all.

I suppose if the race of the police officers accused comes out and they’re not white, we’ll see the protest. Thousands of children are abused every year. If only these protesters cared about them all.

Well they cared enough in my town to protest, I can’t speak for others

People protested the police station in your town for the police officer rapes in Rotherham? 🤨

Rewis · 23/08/2025 18:42

I feel like people lump on asylum seekers, illegal immigrants, legal immigrants, family members of british citizens, family members of immigrants, those who have been here for decades, those with settled statuses. I mean, i guess a lot of people don't care about the difference but then there are a lot of "i don't mean you".

A lot of what you are saying would make sense if the person immigrating earns over £50k or whatever the break even is for tax without children at school and is not, for example, a Deliveroo rider. Maybe a sensible, massively reduced immigration policy where only families who are net contributors can immigrate to the U.K.? And we keep it under say 100k for a couple of years? Wouldn’t a lot of the issues simply go away?

But he did reside there and was only convicted in June 2025. People are scared to go to the park next to the hotel with their children. Immigrants are there in gangs recording the children at the park and intimidating the mothers. I do not feel safe in my town any more, neither do lots of people. We’ve had enough. These people are housed and fed which is more than can be said for our homeless and veterans, yet all they do is cause bother amongst locals. And yet, if I say this out loud I’m the one labelled a racist!

There will be one person who has the correct documentation and bank account who gets the contract with the delivery company. This person then sub contracts to others and I presume pays them in cash and probably very little. When you order it displays the name/photo of the delivery rider but it then doesn't match the actual person who arrives.

These are just things local businesses offer. It’s up to them if they want to offer it.

No not businesses but councils. People have to pay additional council tax so these immigrants get their vouchers and freebies. This is what is causing anger among people. They struggle to pay increased council tax and often can't afford to pay for their own DC to swim then see council has issued immigrants DC free swimming, yoga, gardening or heavily discounted swimming, yoga, gardening etc. It causes friction and is unnecessary.

There are so many immigration schemes available in Canada as long as you’re under 35, could you cross train to be a quantity surveyor for example?
