For thinking that the migrant protests ...

Ihateboris · 23/08/2025 12:35

Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

Well you could flip that on this post and ask if you think everyone protesting about immigration is a racist?? Because on this thread that’s what people are being accused of…..

Yes. Or even better , you could ask "nobody mentioned Taliban or terrorism when referring to Afghans!? We were talking about the well known cultural practices surrounding women and girls. you bought up 'taliban!?' 😵‍💫 why ? Do you think all Afghans are terrorists?"

Honestly, it's like something David Brent would say....

Liberal left unconscious thoughts and ignorance are really coming through now 😏 and she'll be doing shouty shouty and flinging the R word round on here no doubt. These my friend, are the educated ones.....

Hollyohara · 24/08/2025 09:38

😂 Yeah. Doesn’t work with the hundreds of thousands of ‘asylum seekers’ does it? Funny that.

ThatWaryOchreQuoter · 24/08/2025 09:16

What is it you think that figure 2 shows? To me it shows how financially beneficial a tightly controlled skilled immigration system could have been for the U.K.
Mass immigration has been a net drain on the U.K. and we all know it, areas of high immigration are a fiscal drain. A high net worth Hong Kong banker might offset the state cost of 100 low skilled Deliveroo drivers, but why not just take the banker and not the 100 low skilled Deliveroo drivers?

Those Deliveroo drivers are unlikely to be immigrants. ONS says about 246,000 people were working as delivery drivers across the UK in 2024.

Asylum seekers are not allowed to work. There are only about 500,000 refugees in the UK of all ages and it is very unlikely that more than a small fraction of them are Deliveroo drivers. Otherwise, immigrants arrive on a points system correlating to skills. ‘Delivery driver’ is not a shortage profession

😂 Yeah. Doesn’t work with the hundreds of thousands of ‘asylum seekers’ does it? Funny that.

Because there is a difference between seeking asylum and immigration

Funny that you do not understand that simple fact.

Inchworms · 24/08/2025 09:41

What’s weird about the people going on about ‘cultures who don’t respect women’ is it seems like people are mostly talking about governments? Like, the taliban are a bit fucked up about women but how does that have any more impact on how the average afghani dude is than how Keir starmer affects the average UK person. By that logic every British person totally agrees with everything the current British government says and we know that’s not true.

or do people think ‘forriners’ are some misshapen lump they can just generalise about?

ThatWaryOchreQuoter · 24/08/2025 09:41

Pretty much, just needs tightening up around families and a temporary cap of annual immigration of 50k per annum for the next 10 years. Job done. See, we can agree.

We can agree

We won't agree on scapegoating asylum seekers and hotel protests.

Lifelifelife21 · 24/08/2025 09:43

Some of the people attending the protests are there for terrible violent reasons but the spread of asylum seekers across the UK is not equal and many communities (mainly in the North East) are disproportionately affected by housing asylum seekers.

I wonder where @Ihateboris is from? I worked out the calculations a few days ago from an article on the BBC news website and in some North East local authorities 1 in 200 people are now asylum seekers. It's not sustainable. Whereas across the South West it's less than 1 in 1000 people. And similarly low levels in London and other parts of the UK.

Do you think it’s the Taliban engaging in honour killings or women and abuse of young boys in Afghanistan. No, these are culture practices widely known and written about.

Ha ha oh. I do understand. It’s almost like the left use manipulation of language to try and change meaning. We all know what’s going on. If some people want to wilfully misunderstand / have such cognitive dissonance they can’t / don’t want to process facts and consequences , not much we can do about it. As we see time and time again.

it was helpful having young people from europe come to the UK to work for a while and then go home. Now, we’re having to recruit from a wider, older, further away sphere and I can see why you’d have to allow people to bring families. Anyone who voted for Brexit and ‘did their research’ should’ve seen this coming

I think the only misshapen lump , as you put it, thats being generalised about on here is white middle aged working class men. (That's allowed though isn't it ?)

Do read the 1951 Refugee Convention for more clarification

Because young men, from birth, have been raised to think that the way women are perceived and treated there is the norm. It obviously benefits them to follow this, so they pretty much run with it. And when they come here, how they have been raised to perceive women is going to still be with them. It’s the culture they’ve been taught, so it’s going to be nigh on impossible for us to change that without lots of therapy and education.

SquishedMallow · 24/08/2025 09:52

I'm just going to advertise this as I think it's important:

@Inchworms has openly admitted: it's never ok to generalise about foreign asylum seekers

It is ok to generalise about white working class middle aged males

There we have it.

Shocking isn't it .....
