To ask for help in planning a trip to wales

It’s my birthday next week. DH surprised me with a sudden appearance this morning! (He is temporarily working abroad). He took a week off. We’ve never been to Wales, so we are planning a trip to the 4 waterfalls area. We’ll be there for 3 days. What else can we do while we are there?

  • DH and I are both 42, 8yr old DD and 16yr old DS
  • We like adventure (zip wires, cable cars, whale watching, water sports etc)
  • The kids don’t enjoy treks or walks - we barely convinced them to do the 4mile waterfall walk
  • we don’t enjoy driving much, so preferably en route or a short drive (under an hour) from the area
  • we have an ev and will be driving from Tadworth, Surrey

thanks for reading :)

You’re going to a beautiful area - enjoy!

If you travel there via M4 then A465, you could break your journey up by stopping at Margam Park, which has a Go Ape plus paddle boarding on the lake. Or at Aberavon beach for surfing (search Surf School Wales). Both are not too far off the motorway. If you head a little further along the coast there’s also Swansea water sports centre.

Zip World Tower Colliery is near where you’re staying. There’ll probably also be other adventure activities like caving and mountain biking close by if hiking is off the table.
