Just read this awful story in the Guardian. Awful and makes me feel so angry and so unsafe as a half Black woman.

I was saying this to my husband the other day. It is getting worse and I am worried for my children's future. We are thinking of leaving the UK. We were born, raised here but don't feel welcome or safe anymore due to the constant rhetoric about non white people. Even an innocent social media post can become toxic and racist reqlly quickly.

You just don’t want to see it, that’s the trouble. It upsets your idealistic view of the world where everyone from totally different cultures with totally different values get along beautifully. You’d prefer to live in your fantasy world, pretend you don’t see the problems and shout down anyone who tries to draw your attention to them.

You’ll shut your eyes until you can’t any longer and then claim to be surprised and horrified when it’s all inevitably goes wrong, as it’s beginning to. Ah well, people tried to warn you. There’s none so blind as those who will not see.

I'm very happy with the families that picnic in our local park, thanks - the Indian Muslim families who include a TA and a teacher at the school DD has just left, the Bulgarian families, her friends who are Chinese and half Thai, and the Syrian families who were settled in our town as we had a lot of empty family homes (low birth rate and lots of flats built meant we had a lot of family homes spare that single professionals and students didn't want to live in), some of whom have been here since the start of the war in Syria and their kids now have A levels.

I also have no interest in living in a society where people call children who look like my DD the P word which is the inevitable result of what you want.

If you could be bothered to try to open your closed mind you'd find life a bit more interesting.

You need money to anything anywhere. I assumed since you'd reduced London to a "hell hole" of poor people in Tower Blocks, you weren't familiar with anything the city has to offer.

But things often cost more in London.

And I hadn't " reduced " London to that. Merely pointed out it's only a nice city if you are in a good area with money. Not so good if you are in a crime ridden area and piss poor

Nowhere in the country is pleasant to live in if you're piss poor in a crime ridden area. I live in Tower Hamlets and love it.

It sickens me seeing thugs stopping men, they hang their accommodation abusing them, camera in their face.

There has been at least 20 reported racist attacks in Ireland this year, that was unheard of prior to 2022.

Many from the Indian community, one man working for amazon as an IT engineer, he was stripped, battered, slashed, another a Doctor, face cut open. An 8 year old girl attacked by teenagers called a d*rty Indian.

There the incidents reported.

My Dsis works in a care home, her colleagues are verbally abused daily walking home from work by teenagers.
One young man was pushed off his bike.

My nieces BF was born here, he's heard idiots shout go back to Africa.

The way that the UK is going frightens me, people believing the lie that migration is the reason for their problems rather than austerity. I had this discussion with a taxi driver last night, who told me without irony, he was going to live in India because of 10k 'illegal' migrants to the UK.

Why does it surprise you that legal, law-abiding immigrants resent having to live alongside the illegal ones and think poorly of their behaviour?

If the legal immigrants - the type you actually want - are leaving because they see the problems with allowing huge numbers of undocumented young men into the county it doesn’t say much for Britain or British people’s respect for their own laws, does it? Why should the legal immigrants care about rules or regulations? Brits don’t, and won’t enforce them.

Cetim · 20/08/2025 23:00

VaseofViolets · 20/08/2025 21:58

I’ll tell you why. Because I did it legally. I didn’t break in. I don’t break into a nation and then expect them to house me, feed me and clothe me. I take a dim view of those who break the law when entering and then have the audacity to flout the law again once they’re lucky enough to be here and rape and abuse young children and women.

I’ve lived in Spain. I experienced racism there as a child - I got the old, stale bread to eat because I was a foreigner, they wouldn’t sell me fresh. No books in my language, no one bent the rules for me - I had to learn pretty damn quick. And you know what? Their country, their rules. If I didn’t like it or want to learn Spanish, I had the option to leave. I wasn’t entitled to be there.

So even you as a law abiding immigrant who tried to integrate was treated like sh*t in Spain but you are ok with that and condone that behaviour? You think it OK to treat other humans poorly simply because they are not like you? That is a disgraceful attitude to have imo. Further more, many of the non white people in the UK are not immigrants, they were born here, do speak the language, don't break the law and have 'integrated'. So why should they suffer? You're saying they should expect tensions and issues because a few hundred people who look like them decided to come illegally on a boat. It is just Racism and you have proven the OP point.

beachwalkx · 20/08/2025 23:00

I always think they should do their family tree and most of them might shut up then
i wouldn’t be here if my gg grandparent hadn’t been a slave who came to Scotland and married a white woman
so am I British, am I white, is that ok? It doesn’t make sense to me at all, half of these racist idiots probably have ancestors who are immigrants or aren’t white and they’re spitting send them back home to someone born in Manchester Confused

He's not racist, people are always using the wrong terms. It's nothing to do with skin colour. He doesn't like the islamification of the UK. You can call him Islamaphobic if you like.

He is racist. Hence his racist diatribe against a black man in a park with white children.🙄 He's Islamophobic too.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/08/2025 23:07

Hereforthecommentz · 20/08/2025 22:17

Theres no children coming on boats it's young men. Let's stop with this nonsense. They've gone through several safe countries to be here. If you are fleeing war you'd flee to the first safe country and claim asylum. They come because we are mugs who give, give give.

She means the white liberal middle class that like to take offence on behalf of everyone else. The ones that claim to hate racism then patronise and belittle them. Malcom x did warn of these people.

Where did I say I condone racist behaviour?

I can’t find the bit where I said it was ok to treat other humans poorly because they’re not like me. Perhaps you could show me where I said that.

If it were only a few hundred (!) people coming here on a boat, there wouldn’t be a problem and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. It’s a problem when it’s actually tens of thousands, as you very well know. You’re part of the problem when you intentionally give ridiculous small numbers as though people need not be concerned. They are concerned.

@Rainydayinlondon it's a lovely dream but unfortunately won't be able to be reality anytime soon. Some of the recent comments I've seen online include:

"I go to the country for peace from you lot. Now I can't go there anymore."
"Great, now the water is contaminated" (re wild swimming)
"Get out of the lake district you are messing it up and making it dirty"
"Be careful rats go missing in the countryside and never seen again"
"Someone will bump into you on a hill and I doubt you will be smiling then"
"It fumes me to see you and your baby roaming in my lands like you own it"
"Literally not one safe place left for ordinary patriotic Brits"

(This is from one persons instagram account! He has the audacity to enjoy hiking with his three year old daughter)

There are quite a lot of us who are ashamed of the way our country seems to be reverting to the attitudes of the 1950s.

I tan very quickly. I have dark hair. I am inevitably asked “where are you from originally?” Several times each summer. Surrey girl, white British. People assume my family must be Italian or Spanish. Wankers.

so sorry OP and other posters. I can’t bear to think of how it must hurt you.

The latest figures from the Home Office show there were 32,345 asylum seekers in hotels in the UK at the end of March 25 down 15% from the end of December.

so 3 x £10,000 not the sort of figures your post suggests?

Against a population of £69M, do you not think that we absolutely can support these people while their claim for Asylum is processed?

I think both of us immigrants are being attacked by the usual suspects MN-ers 😂 it's quite ironic tbh.

What I find ironic is your argument against immigration, is that immigrants will have different opinions and beliefs to British people. You and @VaseofViolets have different views to the usual suspect MN-ers.

So we're having a discussion about it. You're not being attacked.
