Just read this awful story in the Guardian. Awful and makes me feel so angry and so unsafe as a half Black woman.

Your logic isn’t working. Nobody is saying the repressive Muslim men aren’t really Muslim. Just that it’s not a ‘whole community’ view. The Quran doesn’t limit education for women, incidentally.

Thanks. That's a useful set of stats. The figures are gross, as I suspected, so the number of migrants here will have increased by a lot less than the total arriving.

They show that the vast majority of migrants are here on visas, and most of those visas are for work (183k) and study (414k) visas. Clearly, the workers were needed in some way or they wouldn't have got visas, and foreign students are a benefit because of the fees they bring into the education system.

Refugees/asylum seekers are a relatively small group, at just 111k, and the majority have come via safe & legal routes.

I found it interesting that Afghanis were the most numerous group arriving by small boat. I think anyone fleeing the fucking Taliban deserves a safe haven, tbh.

Of course not. You know what else has altthe demographic and cultural makeup of the UK? Low birth rates. Secularism. Feminism. Our time in the EU (now sadly over). To suggest it's just one thing is simplistic.

Perhaps those engaged with stirring up trouble and promoting racist hatred should obtain "legitimate permission" for their actions before they trash our culture and values any further. I certainly don't remember ever being asked if I was happy to consent to the appointment of a bunch of ignorant racists to act as the guardians of our culture.

All religions have misogynist manifestations. Both fundamental Christianity and Judaism promote 'modesty'. And there are plenty of liberal Muslims. Black and white simplistic thinking helps nothing.

For instance when there was the protest at the school with the teacher in hiding there is very little done about the protesters outside the school by the police

Plus there are regular influxes of racist trolls on MN, as evidenced by the recent thread on "two tier" justice, which ended up looking like a doily.

I would like the far right to seek permission from the British people before they claim to speak on our behalf. They are a noisy and troublesome minority, but I do not believe that they represent the values and the morals that most British people hold dear in the slightest.

What do you mean? What sort of minority? Do you mean because they are white? As the 2021 Census revealed that white people make up 81% of UK citizens, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Why on earth you would feel sorry for them even if it were true, I don't know. It's just scaremongering.

I don't see this in other cultures, it is one religious culture, that has members from many races.
