Just read this awful story in the Guardian. Awful and makes me feel so angry and so unsafe as a half Black woman.

My reading comprehension is fine thanks. Why does it bother you that the pp immigrated here and married an English man? You then intimated that she felt superior for doing so. She didn't say that anywhere.

This is what I mean, it’s reasonable for people to ask ‘if we don’t limit immigration, what does this mean for our children?’. That’s not racism. But making a strong focus on ‘we don’t know the background of asylum seeking black or brown men’ for example, when we don’t know the background of various men with white skin who also may or may not present risks to women and children = bog standard racism.

There aren’t any white men that as a community all agree that women should hide their bodies and hair when they leave the house.
There aren’t any white men that as a community all agree that being homosexual should be banned and issue death threats to homosexuals if they try to be active or known as gay.
There aren’t any white men who as a community agree that women can’t be allowed to be home alone with a tradesman, and cant telephone a tradesman to make an appointment, and can’t freely answer the door of their own homes.
There aren’t any white men that are a community in agreement that women should be limited in their education possibilities.

It really isn’t “racism” to want to know exactly who is present. It’s sensible.

The problem is as in the article that started this thread: the assumption that someone must be an asylum seeker because they are not white. That is racist, as is the idea that British = white. And those kinds of expressions are now commonplace in a way they have not been for a long time. If you can't see this, you may be part of the problem.

I know plenty of Muslim men who don’t uphold those values, and I employ many Muslim women.

Is that gross or net migration? And does it include illegal immigration?

Migration Observatory is generally well regarded for accuracy, so it would be helpful to understand your figures and see if the source for them is using similar methodology.

Agreed. It’s just a load of racist/islamophobic assumptions. I also know Muslim men who don’t follow any of these practices. Of course there are some, but there are a great many white men who coercively control the women in their lives in other ways, and there are white men who don’t.

I think those engaged with the wholesale demographic and cultural change of the U.K. should have obtained legitimate permission.

Any movement alters that to some degree. It’s minimal though. And not negative in my view.
