To wonder what’s going on with all the big lips

Everywhere I go I see women with massive lips. It looks like so many women are wearing lip fillers.

i totally get that if you’re someone with really thin lips then you may want to plump them up, but I see this look on lots of women from their 20s to 60s.

Yes but I bet you took the covid jabs though didn't you?

And therein lies the rub. The PF sub-set can't do critical thinking and don't even know how to structure an argument effectively. No doubt the 'Covid jab' probably has a mike drop effect in their sub-set, but to many of us it has holes big enough to drive a bus through.

You are lucky - you have great lips!

I think you can tell, though, unless it’s extremely subtle (and probably very, very expensive!).

Your lips are not distorted, distended or uncomfortable-looking and they have the natural vertical creases which pumped-up ones don’t have. They look like balloons.

i would guess only the very best practitioners would get a result like this and they would A) advise clients well and B) have the sort of client who wanted a subtle, mor natural look.

Generally the give away is the top lip. If the top lip is equal to or bigger than the bottom it’s filler.

in this photo we can see normal proportions. I’d expect the top lip to be the same as the lower if she’s had filler.

but like I said, the giveaway is speech.

Although I agree some people take ‘tweakments’ to the extreme, having skimmed the thread, I’m seeing a lot of ‘coping’ going on.

By this I mean I suspect that the core issue a lot of PP have with these trends is that they synthetically emulate a wider more diverse group of natural ethnic attributes which are harder for many women to achieve in order to be seen as ‘sexy/desirable’ by a lot of men.

Up until relatively recently in the UK, the standard for desirability was blond, thin celebrities. Although the vast majority of women hadn’t a hope in hell of looking like famous blond thin women, they could get away with buying a bottle of bleach and a pack of fags to stay thin, safe in the knowledge that many blokes wouldn’t be that fussed about features and body.

However, there’s now more exposure to diverse women and thus there’s been a push towards the more racially/ethnically ambiguous look e.g Kim Kardashian who has the curves of a black or Latina woman, tanned skin tone of a Middle Easterner, long straight hair of an Asian, plump lips etc etc.

Just eating celery and sitting under foils at the hairdresser is no longer enough to attract many men. They are looking at the entire package and that package occurs very rarely and is expensive to buy and get right.

Again I do believe some women have gone to extremes, or paid for shoddy work. However, I don’t think all PPs are genuine in their concern for these women. I think many are more angry that even if they did their best, their look is no longer the standard desired look - standard white British face and body with bonus blond hair and thin, which was achievable for many. This new ‘cherrypicking’ of all ethnicities of women is far harder.

I totally agree with this. I see white women all the time trying to look like black women, they want tiny waists but a big bottom (im not sure if big buts are still in fashion??) And big lips are definitely an African trait. Cherrypicking ethic features is bang on! And then there's the dyed black hair and mahogany tan.

Erm the side effects and risks of the vaccination were pretty well established prior to the roll out of the Covid vaccine, and it was also carefully monitored on a large, public health scale.

did you read this? https://academic.oup.com/asj/article/42/3/NP162/6226516

nothing on that scale has happened with vaccinations.

I have a family member who now looks like Janice Muppet. She has to tilt her head back to see through the ridiculous eyelashes and from a side view I swear she could balance a shot glass on her top lip. Always want to lick her lips and stick her to a window with her legs dangling like those toys you see stuck inside car windows. I love her dearly and would never say anything but she looks ridiculous.

🤣 That image is hilarious!

Yes, let’s hope she comes to her senses soon.

No I just took it, it’s lip oil I put on an hour ago
with lip oil wiped off

They don’t look like filler as have lines, normal lines. You just have generous lips

The filler lips there are no lines, overfilled balloons. I can achieve the look using a certain lipstick I’m allergic to😆 but it results in dry, cracked lips the next day.

That’s a hell of a lot of racial stereotypes you’ve both managed to cram in there.

i know curvy black women but also super-petite ones, tall, thin ones and short, plump ones. Same for white women…and 2 white friends were called ‘Rubber Lips’ at school because of their naturally plumptious lips.

I'm standing at a bus stop next to a man with lip fillers and stylised eyebrows. Feminised face but presenting as a man. So there's guys doing it too.

I'm not sure what side you're coming down on here.

So you're saying that the reason I don't like the plastic look is that I secretly want to look like your idea of a stereotype Afro-Caribean woman? You're making things up!

The whole point we're making is that women should look like themselves not homogeneous clones.

I don't have dyed black hair (I think it looks harsh on white women) and I don't like to tan.

I'm happy with my pale, clear, "peaches and cream" skin and curly auburn hair.

Lol im not a "pf subset" I dont have any work done but just found it funny the poster was saying people who get filler dont know the longterm effects of it but I know many on here were happy to have the covid jabs injected into them which they dont know the long term effects of.
Quite ironic

Im not making anything up im just going by the women i see walking about in public. They appear to be imitating other ethnicities.
Im all up for the natural look and being exactly who you are.

Oh dear. Trying to equate Covid vaccine with cosmetic injectables? Really? I don't even know where to start with this. I'd have to somehow build a time machine and start your education again from scratch.

You see no difference between a global health emergency where millions were dying horrible deaths, and people making the casual choice to go down to the salon to have their lips inflated?

You are beyond help!

Does anyone here think they look good?

The young woman who served my breakfast yesterday had pumped lips and startlingly blonde hair. She probably looks identi-chick when she's all done up for a night out, but her daytime look was brilliant. She wore very 'glowy' natural-look skin, no eye makeup, and a clear pearly lip gloss. I mean, she was all shimmer and lips but it really worked.

Youdontseehow · 22/08/2025 18:58

Laurendelaney1987 · 19/08/2025 08:38

It seems to be a particular type of look. Very groomed women if that makes sense (hair done, full make up, glam clothes). Footballers wives type of look maybe?

is it a status symbol?

do men prefer that look?

I think it used to be a WAG type thing but now it’s everywhere.

I work with a woman - she’s lovely and I like her and I’m really not trying to be disparaging of her - but she’s mid 60s, I’d say about 3 stone overweight (she has told me) and gets her hair shorn done at the barbers. So she seemed happy in her own skin so to speak. Then she turned up one day with these massive pumped up lips - it just seems/looks so bizarre!

Now I’d love a facelift if I had the money/was not scared but in reality, the best thing I could do to make myself look and feel better is lose weight. So that’s what I’m doing!

Lampzade · 22/08/2025 19:02

Naturally full lips are very appealing and often give someone a more youthful appearance .
There isnt anything wrong with using a little bit of filler as very thin lips are not attractive imho
However , the trend for the over the top pout is horrible . The lips resemble a baboon’s arse
