Like this?

I went today without really realising how bad they were until I got there. I live by a beach, not on holidays and just rushed there after work
Now i’m looking at them like 😮
I feel like no one I know would do this

I've stopped shaving my legs and armpits. As I’ve gotten over 50 I couldn’t care less. I was inspired by my DD who at 25 doesn’t shave her legs or underarms. I realised it’s a case of those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.

Mine don’t look like women’s? 😔

Of course they do. Women’s legs look like women’s legs, shaved or not.

Nope , I wouldn’t, but you were rushing after work , so it wasn’t intentional, not a big deal 😊

UnimaginableWindBird · 17/08/2025 19:17

It wouldn't even occur to me not to go. I swim in a lake regularly and sometimes I shave and sometime I go months between shaves and I don't think anyone's ever thought twice about it either way, and if they have, then I would find that weird and a bit creepy.

Allseeingallknowing · 17/08/2025 19:18

My legs are hairless- something good about getting older!

JollyRoseBiscuit · 17/08/2025 19:18

Defo would ha

PistachioTiramisuLimoncello · 17/08/2025 19:18

I honestly don’t notice ANYONE else’s hair on ANY parts of their bodies when I’m on the beach. Therefore I surmise, no one is looking at my hairy or not so hairy parts and no longer give a fuck 🤣🙌

AngelinaFibres · 17/08/2025 19:19

Your legs barely register on the scale of horrors out on the harbour front and beach in St Ives this week. There are a lot of people out there with absolutely no self respect/ full length mirrors.

DashboardConfession · 17/08/2025 19:19

I wouldn't not go to the beach because of it but I shave to the top of my knees every other day anyway. It takes me about 10 seconds per leg in the shower.

Inyournewdress · 17/08/2025 19:20

I would and I think it’s great that we no longer feel the same pressure to pretend women don’t have body hair!

Hotagain · 17/08/2025 19:22

I do and now my DD does even though ( shamelessly) I’ve encouraged her to shave she does not care.

ThePinkPoster · 17/08/2025 19:23

I happened to be in the bath the other day for the first time in a while (I usually shower) and realised that my leg hair has got long enough that when it’s underwater it actually wafts.

I found it oddly fascinating.

To answer your question yes I would still have taken my wafty legs to the beach.

LittleMyLabyrinth · 17/08/2025 19:24

I would. My legs are nobody's business and nobody cares. I usually shave about once a month in the warmer months, just because it feels nice sometimes. In the colder months, not at all.

Apocketfilledwithposies · 17/08/2025 19:24

I've conducted experiment this summer and last by going out with legs like this and seeing if ANYONE even clocks the stubble. No one does.

drspouse · 17/08/2025 19:25

In the UK, beach down the road, after work stroll, DEFINITELY.

TruJay · 17/08/2025 19:27

Years ago, no…now, fuck it! I regularly take toddler ds to his weekly swim lessons without perfectly shaven legs.
I’m currently avoiding waxing as it’s making my legs so sore, lumpy and itchy all of a sudden so I’ve spent the last 6 weeks letting my leg hair grow for some reprieve, they’re feeling much better thankfully. So the past few sunny weeks I’ve been wearing shorts and dresses with hairy legs, hasn’t bothered me.
I shaved them the other day as I’m now on holiday. I’m already prickly and they are visibly hairy but not desperate to reshave and have been at the beach the past 3 days.

I’ve actually thought about this before, do I ever stare at other women’s legs or bikini lines? No so I don’t think anyone will really care about mine being shaven either.

seaelephant · 17/08/2025 19:29

I don't bother personally, my bush and pit hair bursting out are enough of a distraction so people usually don't notice my legs

tedibear · 17/08/2025 19:29

No one will bat an eyelid you wound notice unless h were close up. I wouldn’t do it intentionally but like today I forgot to shave them and I was wearing shorts, oops I’m sure no one cared or noticed. If they did oh well.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 17/08/2025 19:35

Yes, I rarely shave my legs.

My armpits are hairy 90% of the time. I wouldn't shave them at all, but they get to a point in the summer where I start to feel a bit self-conscious in certain clothes and I shave them.

GeneticallyModifiedGrump · 17/08/2025 19:35

I epilate everything about once a week so I wouldn't end up quite so hairy, even at the end of the week. I would go to the beach though even on the day before I epilate (wouldn't have done when young though).
I gave up shaving ages ago, got sick of shaving and having stubbly legs by 5pm!

DoubtfulCat · 17/08/2025 19:35

Yeah. I don’t shave any more. Very occasionally I might do the armpits but really just for the novelty these days. Nobody cares.

Sally2791 · 17/08/2025 19:40

Yes, wouldn’t think twice about it. I have never spent time looking for hairy legs on other people!

Ratisshortforratthew · 17/08/2025 19:41

Yes, but I haven’t shaved my legs for over 5 years. I’m very dark and thick-haired too. As far as I’m aware nobody has ever batted an eyelid and if they have, I haven’t noticed or cared

NewsdeskJC · 17/08/2025 19:41

Depends where you live.
St Tropez prob not
Hastings yep.

Trovindia · 17/08/2025 19:51

I wouldn't have mine or with hair that long, I would wear a maxi or trousers, but my DD has never shaved and goes swimming and no one notices.
