Like this?

I went today without really realising how bad they were until I got there. I live by a beach, not on holidays and just rushed there after work
Now i’m looking at them like 😮
I feel like no one I know would do this

Yes I would and I can’t say I’ve ever scrutinised anyone else’s leg hair tbh!

My 17 year old daughter doesn't shave her legs or armpits at all. I've had to bite my tongue because to me it looks a bit yuck but I realise this is just me being socialised to expect hairlessness on women. She didn't even shave her armpits when wearing her strapless prom dress. I noticed when we went to a uni open day that the female student we were talking to also had unshaven legs so maybe a certain section of young women are rejecting the idea. (Not the same ones who are getting gel nails, lip fillers and fake eyelashes I presume).

In answer to the OP other people look at you a lot less than you think and don't really care about what you look like lol. I used to worry a lot more about shaving my legs and now realise people don't care and i do it much more infrequently.

My 15 year old has zero interest in shaving. Im quite proud of her. 🤣
We were talking about why I remove hair and she said that it seems stupid and too much hassle.

I don’t think I’ve ever been naked while having any kind of anaesthetic!

How do you think they position you for surgery? With eyes shut! Anaesthetist is there all the way through.

I teach undergraduates and lots of the girls have long, noticeable leg hair and armpit hair. It’s quite jarring to those of us raised with 1990s “beauty standards” (as my DD would put it); but I rather admire their willingness not to give a toss about body hair. It’s refreshing! (Especially as fifteen years ago all the student-age girls were made up to the nines with hair perfectly coiffed and bodycon dresses on at 9am for lectures.)

No one will have noticed then except you. Seriously, no one cares. Enjoy the sun and have fun.

Imagine missing a day at the beach because you didn’t shave your legs? That would be the really sad thing.

lilkitten · 20/08/2025 14:57

I stopped shaving my legs and armpits in covid. TBF I am blond so it's not very noticeable, but I can't be bothered keeping up with it. No-one else seems to care.

Daboomboom · 20/08/2025 22:03

I saw 3 women (all university age I guess) with hairy legs today. Yay!

They clearly took care of themselves so it was obviously a conscious decision.

I dont think I would even have noticed if I hadnt read this thread.

I've seen younger women talk abut their hairy armpits as "dickhead repellent" and I'm so loving that.
