Like this?

I went today without really realising how bad they were until I got there. I live by a beach, not on holidays and just rushed there after work
Now i’m looking at them like 😮
I feel like no one I know would do this

I wouldn't, but I was always bullied for mine. Have lasered it all off now.

I'd be impressed if someone else did though.

likeafishneedsabike · 18/08/2025 17:11

I am very pale with black hair. But even I don’t give a shit these days. I work with (gorgeous) teenage girls who just don’t really bother with body hair removal and I feel they have re-educated me. Being hairy is no crime against humanity - you don’t see my DH having to do all sort of prep for the beach or pool. He just packs his towel and fucks off. So I have broken the bonds of hair removal tyranny.

bugalugs45 · 18/08/2025 17:16

I had laser hair removal treatment 12 years ago , it wasn’t cheap but was worth every penny , I haven’t shaved my legs since & they’re smooth as a baby’s bum !
My armpits I used to do daily as were so dark I now do approx once a fortnight and that’s only in the lazy year ( menopause symptom ) .
For anyone reading this considering laser , do it !

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 18/08/2025 17:34

Actually younger women are shunning hair removal.

Ebsalami · 18/08/2025 17:36

Yes.
The whole thing of women supposedly needing to pretend they don’t grow hairs on their legs is ridiculous.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 18/08/2025 17:41

DH thought I was ridiculous last week for wearing long trousers in the heat wave because my legs were too hairy. I was working from home and saw no-one but DH and DS all day 🙈

In my defence, I have ASD and having visible hairy legs (or other physical "imperfections") really stresses me out. It's not so much the having them, it's more the having to look at them that upsets me.

I also won't wear sleeveless tops as I hate my upper arms. I'm a weirdo.

Account734 · 18/08/2025 17:51

I wouldn't but I wouldn't judge anyone negatively that did. When I see someone rocking hairy legs I respect them for being comfortable in their body.

Caerulea · 18/08/2025 17:53

At some point I started asking myself 'would DH shave his legs to go swimming?' and the answer is always no, so why should I?

He & I were laughing at my leg hair last night because, and I'm guessing this is a hormone thing, I've only got noticeable hair left on my shins & ankles. I'm fair & fine haired so had I never started shaving them they'd probably be near invisible too

saffy2 · 18/08/2025 18:10

Yes I would. I rarely shave my legs due to time and energy. My showers are a rush as it is. I’ve worn shorts all summer and been to the beach and pools with leg hair much longer and darker than that. It’s perfectly normal after all.

Whatthechicken · 18/08/2025 18:24

Women are meant to have hair on their legs and even on their armpits! We are conditioned to think it's disgusting on a woman. But just like men we have hair in some places and it's totally natural. Saying that, I sometimes do shave if I know my legs and armpits are going to be on display (which is rare now), because I feel the shame which is not really ours at all. Who decided that women shouldn't have hair in these places?

I have a just under 10 year old girl, she is absolutely perfect as she is. I know she will feel pressure to de-hair, and I understand that pressure to conform as we women have been conditioned to. But I will be incredibly sad when she does, every hair on her is perfect.

PeonyPatch · 18/08/2025 18:24

It’s a no from me.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 18/08/2025 18:27

Of course I would. You need to check out the We Do Not Care Club on Facebook or insta

restingbitchface30 · 18/08/2025 18:27

I wouldn’t but I also wouldn’t notice or care if someone else did

Ddakji · 18/08/2025 18:27

No, I wouldn’t. I don’t care if anyone else does (DD was sporting very hairy legs on holiday) but I wouldn’t. I have very pale skin and very dark, thick hair, so I shave my legs every couple of days in the summer and have done for years (I’m 54).

GroovyChick87 · 18/08/2025 18:27

No, I don't let mine get like that.

childofthe607080s · 18/08/2025 18:29

Why not?

You say that like there is something wrong with it...

BooBooDoodle · 18/08/2025 18:43

I have to shave everyday. Got to the point on holiday that my legs were just sore. I skip a day and I look like this. I didn’t give a shit and went for it. I don’t think anyone noticed! Nobody knew me from Adam and won’t see me ever again so stuff it. I’ll make sure I get a leg wax next year. Can’t be arsed shaving. Roll on winter!!

canyouseemyhousefromhere · 18/08/2025 18:48

I go by…

If I don’t look - they can’t see! 😂

LakotaWolf · 18/08/2025 18:55

I’m American, but I live in a touristy beach-town in Southern California. I’m pale as milk and even though my hair is light, I’m SO pale that my leg-hair stands out and is quite visible XD

And I don’t give a shit any more XD I’m 43 now and I don’t think I’ve cared what other people think about my leg-hair since my late 20s and I finally realized that I don’t have to dress how other people want/tell me how to dress! XD

I usually wear men’s cargo shorts (bought from Costco!) every single day (I live in an “it’s always summer” area, so I rarely wear pants unless it’s actually chilly or rainy) so my legs are always on display below the knee. XD (Men’s cargo shorts because POCKETS!)

No one has ever commented on my leg-hair except for my mother, who is a world-class narcissist and is of the generation that thinks that women need to wear a full face of makeup every single day, even if they’re not going anywhere and staying in the house all day. (She’s 80. We differ quite a bit on makeup/hair/clothing opinions. I drive her insane on a daily basis because I rarely wear makeup and I rarely style my hair unless we’re going out to the theatre or something.)

So yes, I’d go to the beach with legs that hairy - have done it many a time and sometimes with even-hairier legs XD

Attached image of my current level of hairiness XD (I’m very clumsy, hence the many scars/healing scrapes, lol)

I wouldn't a few years ago but I've got to the point I don't care anymore about hairy bits , we all have them

Exactly this. Never would have gone out with non shaved legs etc. Now dont care..I guess we get to a time when other stuff takes priority

Denim4ever · 18/08/2025 19:03

They don't look that hairy on the photo.

But, I speak as one who has so little leg hair that I've never shaved mine

Again not hairy

Well it's my personal preference. Funny how so much support for those who want to go hairy, but if we want to shave, we're not allowed. How about just not judging women for their choices?

Eh. Odd take on my comment there.

Nothing wrong with shaving. I do it occasionally myself when I can be arsed.

There is nothing wrong with having hairy legs and your comment came across like you thought there was something wrong with it.
