Just curious - watched documentary and i am convinced of her guilt and intrigued by her apparent wolf in sheeps clothing demeanour - Just wondering if anyone HAS met her /encountered her and what she is like ?!

that should say guilt not innocence !

Are you hoping someone will say ‘I met over the sandwich counter in the Hospt canteen her and she had the cold dead eyes of a killer’?

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 12:32

@theunbreakablecleopatrajones yes something like that …. or maybe more along the lines of - i went to school with her and she was this or that

No one will do that for free. If anyone had an anecdote about her that they wanted to share with the random public they’d probably tell a journalist and at least get paid for their ‘exclusive’.

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 12:35

@FanofLeaves yes you are probably right !

Have you considered that the parents/relatives of the babies that died might be reading this? Take your weirdo ghoulish fascination out of the public domain.

You mean she looks innocuous and innocent, but she clearly isn't? Because your language falls into the trap of self-fulfillment. You think she's a wolf in sheep's clothing because you agree she is guilty. Someone else who thinks she is innocent would see her differently - no wolf-like hidden depths. If it were possible for someone to go "ooo I knew her aged 5 and it was obvious she'd turn out to be a serial killer" then we wouldn't need a police force, and we wouldn't make scary films about future times when people are arrested before their crime.

I have met Jimmy Saville, Rosemary West and Myra Hindley. Jimmy Saville was creepy as fuck, but only because I observed him as selfish, self-centred, and kind of in everyones space - not because I suspected anything about him. The other two were nice women you'd say hello to on the street and possibly even like as a neighbour - if you didn't know who they were.

There's another saying often used - you can't judge a book by its cover. It goes both ways - that innocuous innocent exterior might just as well be because she is inncoent as because she's guilty and hiding her true self.

I did. I met her in Primark once before she was famous. I was with my friend Chantelle and she said ‘listen right, don’t look over there but it’s that Lucy fucking Letby’. I didn’t want to look but everyone was talking about her on the estate so I just sort of glanced over. She was buying leggings. They had a special deal on at the time, two for the price of one. I remember thinking she didn’t seem a leggings type of person. She clocked me looking at her and pretended she was looking at a floral top but I know she was buying the leggings cuz we saw her in Burger King afterwards and she had a Primark bag and she was wearing a brand new pair of leggings with the label sticking out the back and you could see her underwear through them. It was gross. 🤮

clotheslinefiasco · 17/08/2025 12:54

@PhilippaGeorgiou really?

How interesting.

Where did you meet these people?

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 13:00

@clotheslinefiasco potentially work related for the ladies . Jimmy saville i have met myself as a child at a summer fayre … worryingly it know makes sense why he would frequent them …and agree he WAS creepy

Well to be fair if they happen to be perusing Mumsnet at all they’re unlikely to open a thread with the words ‘Lucy Letby’ in the title.

I haven't met Lucy Letby and I have no idea if she's guilty or not, but I've met 3 killers before in my life and there's nothing about them that comes across as "bad" or "horrible" (but one creeped me out before I knew). One was the sort of person who would lend their last £5 to a stranger in need but had a severe personality disorder and was pure evil to their family. Everyone thought they were the most lovely, hard-done-by person even when the law closed in on them the neighbours wouldn't accept that they'd done what they had done. One seemed very ordinary but was absolutely desperate in a DV situation. The third was an elderly family friend... he had something about him that I'd placed as "not quite right" and he creeped me out with this weird intense gaze and kept trying to buy my attention, but I couldn't put my finger on what it was until he said he'd spent most of his life in prison for murder.
So you just can't ever tell with people.

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 13:04

@HoskinsChoice i dont think my thread is one they would frequent if triggered thankfully as title is a bit of a giveaway ..

Rolf Harris patted me on the bum and said ‘lovely’ when I brought him over his coffee and scone in a cafe once. I was only 16 and too shocked to say anything. I told the manager and he roared with laughter and said I should have asked him for an autograph.

It was sad as I used to love Animal Hospital.

If there was gossip in her background, you can guarantee that it would have been published.
I haven't watch the documentary yet.
I read a previous thread on here about the documentary and I've been swayed, there is not enough evidence against her. Imo.

itsgettingweird · 17/08/2025 13:10

I once worked with someone who was later (as in just a year) convicted of the most heinous kidnapping torture and murder.

I was a teen and never in a million years would I have imagined he’d be capable of such a thing. Haunts me to this day (and it’s 3 decades later)

So before she was (in)famous, your friend pointed her out..... ok

Luddite26 · 17/08/2025 13:12

God I always hated Rolph Harris with his weird stupid noises while he painted his shit paintings. I never watched Animal Hospital. Could never stand Gary Glitter either. My mother always said about Jimmy Savile as he used to pick her friend up age 14 in his gold rolls Royce. The BBC have a lot to answer for.

tinytemper66 · 17/08/2025 13:13

Why? What is it to you? She was tried and convicted. End of.

it’s not ‘end of’ though is it. It’s topical at the moment, because a lot of people think it’s an unsafe conviction and there’s a lot being written and covered in the media. (I’m still not convinced she’s not guilty)
