Just curious - watched documentary and i am convinced of her guilt and intrigued by her apparent wolf in sheeps clothing demeanour - Just wondering if anyone HAS met her /encountered her and what she is like ?!

I have worked in many prisons and often I can tell that someone is in for rape, murder or peadophilia, something primal in me senses danger.

I try not to look up what people are in but when I get a certain feeling I’ll often have a look and find out I was right.

But then you get the others and they are the dangerous ones.
They are often good looking, intelligent, charming, helpful, clean, healthy etc and they often commit the worst crimes because they’re so unsuspecting.

Theres also criminals that are nuts, dangerous and difficult to manage but they would never harm a woman or child.

So what I’m trying to say is even if you met Lucy and she came across as sweet and innocent etc. It does not mean that she’s not capable of what she’s being accused of.

You see for some reason in my mind I visualise some of these parents being really unassuming and timid, and not having the slightest clue why their child became a serial killer. It just seems to obvious to think the parents are nearly always really messed up themselves? I mean if you look at some of the worst in history they often came from relatively normal families.

Let's just say that these kids didn't know what positive parenting was.

How did you know it was her if this nonsense happened before she was "famous"

Duh. You’re making yourself look very silly

I did. I met her in Primark once before she was famous. I was with my friend Chantelle and she said ‘listen right, don’t look over there but it’s that Lucy fucking Letby’. I didn’t want to look but everyone was talking about her on the estate so I just sort of glanced over. She was buying leggings. They had a special deal on at the time, two for the price of one. I remember thinking she didn’t seem a leggings type of person. She clocked me looking at her and pretended she was looking at a floral top but I know she was buying the leggings cuz we saw her in Burger King afterwards and she had a Primark bag and she was wearing a brand new pair of leggings with the label sticking out the back and you could see her underwear through them. It was gross. 🤮

I read this with a Vicky Pollard accent!

Seriously though, this thread has been an interesting read so far.

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 14:09

I agree with lots of posts about how people who commit serious crimes are often charming /quiet /vanilla - however i do think you can often get a bad feeling , a sense about someone ( if you are a intuitive person ) I myself am highly intuitive and my personal judgement has never been wrong - even with seemingly nice people - hence the thread !

I used to live opposite Stoke Mandeville hospital and used to see him in the local shop. He seemed normal. My mum had a friend who was a nurse and all the nurses hated him, he used to hang around my sisters secondary school and the girls there were a bit star stuck. This was the early to mid 1980,s.

Utter nonsense. Really there isn’t a special intuition or a gifted individual who knows.
You (and people) are being wise after the event. Confirmation bias
You don’t have any special intuition, just an interest in crime and knowledge gleaned form podcast and internet

LoztWorld · 17/08/2025 14:14

I think it’s really obvious there are no major red flags in LL’s background or they’d be all over the press. The tabloids make a huge deal of very mundane things like failing a placement, because that’s all there is.

Full disclosure - I am now absolutely convinced she never murdered anyone (having in the past just thought the convictions were unsafe). But what she was allegedly “like” isn’t a factor in that at all.

Her bland bedroom, childish diary etc did seem a little odd to me. But all that proves is her tastes are a little odd - to me! Plenty of people wouldn’t find those things odd, just like I don’t find taking handover sheets home odd.

None of those things is anything to do with her likelihood of murdering.

Totally agree and this is actually witch hunt mentality (like so much of what people say about LL, in fact). You can just “tell” someone’s bad, you don’t need evidence etc. God help us all - these people sit on juries.

I worked with Dennis Neilson in the early 1980's. He came across as polite, shy & quiet.

Did you work in Reading after that? I used to work with someone who worked with him, and she said the same thing.

14 years.

And I'd say there are far more people who are gullible enough to read a clearly intended joke as a serious post, but simply can't admit it.

I must admit, it wasn't 100 percent clear to me that it was a joke. There's such a thing as playing it too straight. It sounded like they could have known about her and her arrest in the local area, before the case went viral.

God I always hated Rolph Harris with his weird stupid noises while he painted his shit paintings. I never watched Animal Hospital. Could never stand Gary Glitter either. My mother always said about Jimmy Savile as he used to pick her friend up age 14 in his gold rolls Royce. The BBC have a lot to answer for.

They do.

I came to Leeds in 1985 at 18 and, fairly quickly, became acquainted with the Savile (well done for spelling his name correctly) folklore: "He fucks dead bodies at the LGI." Hearing this was about as common as hearing "Most pubs in Leeds serve Tetleys." I lived near him for a few years but only saw him once, in a Chinese restaurant in Oakwood, surrounded by friends. To at least some of them, the folklore was probably known to be true. I wonder how they sleep at night.

PerfectlyPlotted · 17/08/2025 14:18

I know someone who had previously worked with her. They liked her and were troubled by the whole thing. They struggled to believe it.

I’m starting to wish I never went shopping with Chantelle now.

😆

SomewhatDissatisfied · 17/08/2025 14:19

Yeah but Chantelle’s sister Shaznay-Brie was going out with Gavin the security guard and he used to let us out the back door and that’s how we met loads of celebrities at Primark and George Michael gave us tickets to see Wham! At Torquay palladium but we didn’t go cos Chantelle got done for nicking a lipstick out of Superdrug’s, and anyway that’s the last time I spoke to her. And after that I started going out shopping with Rhiannon instead and anyway Rhiannon’s cousin Destiny worked at Topshop so we went there instead.

Lulubo1 · 17/08/2025 14:23

Edit: sorry the quote disappeared. This was a reply to @PhilippaGeorgiou going to a party that Jimmy Saville was at

Was this by chance in Yorkshire? He used to come to a hotel I worked at in N Yorks for parties a lot. (The NHS trusts up in Yorkshire used to have parties all the time as well and he was always invited). He was so creepy to me as a teen waitress, with his disgusting innuendos. My sister met him too and he was very disappointed when he asked her age and she said 16, he said he was hoping she was younger 🤮

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 14:24

@CoffeeLipstickKeys intuition is utter nonesense ? noone said anything about it solving cases all i am saying is you CAN have intuition about people and it can serve you well !

Have you considered that the parents/relatives of the babies that died might be reading this? Take your weirdo ghoulish fascination out of the public domain.

Those parents are NOT a reason to let an innocent nurse rot in prison for the rest of her life!

brightonchicka · 17/08/2025 14:26

@LoztWorld of course you need evidence - the lady was convicted … with lots of it !

I think the majority got it straight away though, so the poster did it just right.

You cant account for everyone.

Shaznay-Brie pulled my hair in peacocks she thought I was giving her fish eye. It was cause me and her have beef. She looked funny at ma pal Bridie McBride from East Kilbride and laughed at Bridie ankle tag. So I gave her the look and she pulled my hair. I laughed a tinkly mumsnet laugh and said Haw! Did ye mean to be so rude?? She lamped me
