To be sick of the royal propaganda the UK is fed?

I know most people don’t give a damn about the Windsors any more .

However , in a week when we learn about Philip’s affairs - notably with Sarah Ferguson’s mother ( all covered up of course like the rest of their debachery) we are now expected to swallow the line that William and Kate’s next mansion is ‘paid for by William and Kate themselves ‘

No . That’s not the complete truth .Every penny the Windsors have , they have taken from the people . We now know William and Charles make millions from public services like the NHS schools and charities . We only know about this as a result of dogged journalistic digging . And most of the mainstream media barely covered the scandal .

There are many threads here about how the UK is in steep decline and how people are suffering . Yet the royals are taking in half a billion a year and charging charities on top !

At least admit to us that all their money is stolen from us ?

Oh and if you haven’t heard the queen knew all about Andrew pocketing money via ‘pitch at the palace’

She was told repeatedly by officials . She did nothing
Can we have some facts please ?
The Windsors are a total facade - they are all like Andrew - he’s just the latest fall guy .

I hear you, and agree
For me, the truth became apparent when the Harry/ M saga evolved
i realised that one had been fed a PR masterclass in manipulating public opinion about a very flawed man: let’s market an unpleasant (being polite) man as a cheeky chappie who loves doing charity work to help others
What a lie we were fed; Andrew was exposed for something very different from a dashing naval hero and attentive father
Who is next?
Let’s give the public some soft story about the most popular royals to calm the storm

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 12:06

Back to propaganda

We were told Charles would slim down the monarchy . We assumed fewer parasites ( ops ‘royals’ ) , less cost to the taxpayer . The PR let that lie. Of course the full truth is , fewer royals , yet the cost more each year

Next we are told William will modernise . We assume he’ll obey the law , stop acting as a slumlord etc . The PR let that lie .
( We already know William has refused to continue the small degree of financial transparency that Charles allowed - he’s more of a throwback despot )
The truth is William is so lazy and uninterested in people that ‘modernise ‘ to him means a zoom call to open parliament - while he’s on another holiday

I am by no means a royalist, but the royal family don't actually "cost" us anything. They are granted a percentage of the crown estates profits which last year was 1bn direct into the Treasury. Now, you can argue they shouldn't own those estates at all, but in reality they aren't ever sold, as they belong to "the royal state". In reality, I am ambivalent about who "owns" but actually in balance, think that it is probably for the best that the government don't own or run these, they would only fuck it up.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 12:27

@HostaCentral

The royals do not own the crown estate .
We do

That the Windsors ‘donate ‘ their money to us is another propaganda lie that unfortunately you have fallen for ( easily done )

If you want to learn for yourself read ‘and what do you do ‘ as listed above .

We need to start with a return to the civil list . I’m afraid the queen and Charles campaigned long and hard for the scrapping of the civil list and their wish was granted by the tories ( Cameron ans Osborne )
At least when we had the civil list we had some information about who was getting what ( the Windsors hated that )

The crown estate is a confusing term and feeds the propaganda machine - leading people to believe as you do , mistakenly .

OP posts:
Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 12:28

Btw governments have been managing the crown estates since George 111 handed them over ( He was bankrupt )
If you’ve been happy so far - no need to fear

If the anti-Royalists bothered to do any research on the British Royal Family, they would learn that they bring in approximately £52million pounds per annum in tourism and related services and cost each British tax payer approximately 77p per person per year.

France no longer have a Royal family. Doesn’t put me off visiting Versailles. Or the Marie Antoinette exhibition at the Louvres…. We don’t need them for Tourism

mbosnz · 16/08/2025 12:32

Charles only ever wanted to slim down the monarchy so that he had yet more money for himself. He feels himself very hard done by, poor soul.

Let's face it, with the Queen gone (and she certainly put aside her sweetness and light persona when protecting the monarchy's interest and her own familial prejudices), barring Princess Anne, you're left with a festering barrel of rotting self interest and entitlement. (I'm sorry, I cannot include Princess Anne in that. She's the exception that proves the rule as far as I'm concerned).

Mountbatten was a kiddy fiddler? Really? Who knew?

It’s alleged that he is. Look up ‘Kincora House’.

Can you provide a link to this figure, please?

I don’t care. I really don’t. I’m fed up of these privileged people doing unspeakable things (Andrew, anyone?!) while being subsidised and claiming that their “job” is to go to the football and tennis.

Prince Andrew's relationship with the late Ms. Guiffre was when she was 17yrs old. The age of consent was 16 yrs old.

Perhaps you should think about emigrating?

And how old was Andrew? An adult with a child is never excusable.

daddysgirlnot · 16/08/2025 12:49

I’m fed up with it & it’s hard to escape it. I don’t see any reason as to why we should subsidise them so much, or why we should have a monarchy at all.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 12:53

@Astrak

Age of consent does not apply to trafficked women
Maybe you should think about learning about the abuses committed by the royals before rushing to their defence ?

I'm absolutely not justifying Andrews action ,s he's a slimeball
However the age of consent in the UK is 16 rightly or wrongly
I think what is more pertinent is wether he knew she was trafficked ?
Andrew is arrogant enough to beleive anyone would be delighted to have sex with him.

Did I imagine the existence of a Royal board?

No, apparently those who frequent a certain board a lot think the rest of us are interested, so spread their wings on occasion. But that goes on all topics like war or weight loss jabs etc.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 13:01

@gamerchick

No I object to your take

  1. the issue with the royals affect every one of us and they should be on main boards .
  2. the royal boards is unfortunately not the place for debate

Indeed the royal family board is mainly made up of very boring repetitive threads aboutH&M .

Exactly, just like all the other topics people obsess over. Which is why they need to be kept there. People obsessed about harry and his wife. People obsessed about the royal family as a whole.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 13:11

@gamerchick

This thread is not about H and M

Its about the abuses of the Windsors covered up ( for now ) by puffery and PR.

I was sickened to see W and K described as ‘paying for their renovations ‘ to their next mansion , themselves . They did not . They wrote the cheque based on money taken from the taxpayer . That prompted me to start this thread. I was pleased to see other posters felt the same way .

This thread has thankfully remained on topic for the most part

Thank you to all who posted .

I'm not convinced by this at all and am sick of reading it. It's been churned out my whole life that they bring in £££££ from tourists visiting the UK exclusively because of the very existance of the royal family. If they didn't exist, people would still come to the UK. People would still visit the palaces. We could all see a damn site more of the spectacular, currently off limits and out of bounds parts of their various properties.

They could let out rooms, suites, apartments and whole houses on Booking.com!

ginasevern · 16/08/2025 13:16

I'm with you all the way OP. I can't really add to your list of reasons why this corrupt, self preservationist, licentious, pedophilic, thieving and lying family are rotten to the very core. Thank you for the thread. I'm actually quite heartened to see so many others at least in some agreement.

Ukisgaslit · 16/08/2025 13:20

@ginasevern

Yes I feel heartened too

I do not believe the polls . They are a propaganda tool .

I’d like all of us to be asked if we wish to continue funding the Windsors to the tune of half a billion a year .

No pretence left that they are somehow above us - I’d argue that the average person on the street is a more worthwhile individual than any of them . Your description of them is apt

Agree with you again. Not only are they all the things I cited above (and probably worse) but they are lauded with such sycophantic adoration - the like of which otherwise only applies to Kim Jong Un. They represent everything wrong with this country and whilst they are heads of state, we will not progress. People say "but the Queen was genuine". Do they actually know that she personally exempted the RF from at least 120 laws covering such things as race discrimation, employment rights and animal welfare.

But if you’re not interested, why are you reading, let alone commenting? Genuine question, as nobody could find interest in all the threads on AIBU!

This thread is about, as I understand it, thievery and corruption hiding in plain sight, related to a current PR story all over the press and is therefore of great interest to a lot of people.

It is interesting the quantity of people on this thread being very disrespectful and demeaning of a reasonable debate…if I was of a more suspicious mind… but I better stop there as I have posts deleted before when expressing this view 🤔.
